My eldest is also 3rd grade, and I was considering switching him to Saxon next year. I showed him some samples of the work he'd be doing, and he was like, nope! Lol, plus he is really looking forward to the videos coming for level 4. The fact that we can download and print all of the math and LA for our family for free is such a blessing, and it makes me want to continue to support this company. Great review, Gina!❤

I love that you showed him the other curriculum too! I feel because our kids are a bit older they can let us know their opinion! And yes, such a blessing the curriculum is for free! Many blessings to you and your family ❤️

LOVE this video. I really like that you got your son to give his honest opinion on the curriculum too. Also I like learning the differences between what Canada vs the USA is like, like where you explain why you don't do the currency portion bc in Canada the currency is different. I am in the USA and I just like hearing about those differences.

I have one boy who just finished level 3, and another who just went from 2 into 3, and I definitely felt the jump too!! We do the review sections of the math before as well, they do that while I work with their younger sisters. When he started level 3 I really felt the jump but the cool thing is that my son didn’t notice it! And normally he would be the one to notice it and complain about length, but while he may have felt it it he never said anything, so while there’s a jump it’s definitely an adjustment but it’s doable. I have all my older 3 kids in simply math, and my youngest will be doing level k next school year. We are loving it too! My oldest told our facilitator that we did a math that was too much, a math that was too little but the simply math is just right (lol no joke, his words exactly 😂). We’re in Canada too!!! We do the money and gallons and farenheit because I find where we are in Canada we use farenheit for our stoves, Celsius for temperature, cups for baking, gallons for milk, kilometres for measuring large things, etc we use a mishmash of them so I thought it would be good for them to be familiar with both but I’m super glad they do include both. We changed out the money from the level 2 and 1 boxes with Canadian play money so we use the physical play money to help with the money parts. Because I have kids doing levels 1, 2 and 3, the boxes are right there so I can just grab them even though there’s no money in the level 3 box. My oldest is starting level 4 tomorrow when we’re back to school after our spring break, and he and I are excited for the videos too lol!!!

I didn’t buy Supplements for level 2 but I had to for level 3 due to issues with multiplication!!! We only play the games if they are fun or if they’re is a issue with the lessons!!! We only do metric so we missed the imperial measurements!!! We loved the cut outs!!! I didn’t think there was enough video lessons and we don’t have 1c and 2 c coins so I explained to my kids that they were in Singapore and do it as a Singapore dollar!! My twin son used the Singapore edition of Singapore math and it’s all metric!!! We use our own notebooks and I’m glad we do as my kids don’t have issues with space when doing math!!! My kids didn’t want me to print the pdf for them!!! We don’t go thru all the steps unless we need to!!!

Math is my daughter’s weakest subject and we started Learn Math Fast in January. We started from scratch and almost done with the first book. I have Humble Math workbooks for reminders ( clocks, money, fractions, and measurements). I noticed that my daughter isn’t behind when it comes to public school standards. I think if you just find a program that fits that you should stick to it. They will never know everything and apparently homeschool math is more advanced than public school. 😊
@lifewithginab Жыл бұрын
That's true! Math is definitely more advanced homeschooling ... at least here in my area! Thanks for sharing Sarah!

@@lifewithginab I don’t do the common core thing. I think that they are getting away from that but are years behind because of it. My daughter is 8 and she has a huge unit test this Friday. I told her if she doesn’t pass we will redo it and I won’t move on. I think that public schools are told to pass everyone at a certain pace and that is why they are behind. They told my brother to do that when he was a teacher(quit two years ago) and he wasn’t happy about that. She got all teary eyed and I told her to cut it out because she is going to slay it. But seriously, my husband was like we didn’t do all of this in 2nd/3rd grade. I think he is right.

@Sarah E I think the problem here in Canada is that kids are getting to the higher grades and can't even read or do simple addition or subtraction. My friend is a teacher, and she is horrified on how public schools are here right now. The great thing about homeschooling is that we can go at the child's pace, which really makes learning more enjoyable :) at least that's what I try to do since we don't have strict homeschool laws
@sarahe7515 Жыл бұрын
@@lifewithginab yeah. That is the one good thing about Illinois. Homeschool is easy so far. I had 0 problem pulling my daughter and rebuilding her math skills. Obviously, I didn’t hit a home run the first try and that is okay. I read about generation alpha (2012-2025) and the kids that already did standardized testing proved they couldn’t even read a book at 3rd grade. I make my kids read out of a book every day so I know that isn’t our problem. I think if you restart (even if it has to be reading) your child would be able to catch up and maybe even get ahead.

Thanks for a great review! I wish they started the video lessons at level 3 as the multiplication would flow easier! Do you feel there is enough multiplication practice in level 3 for someone starting the course without doing level 2?
@lifewithginab Жыл бұрын
I haven't done the video lessons yet but I think the videos are going to be hit here! So I might agree with you on that once we start level 4!

We were using this and my daughter was just not getting it. We switched to mwc. Now my youngest daughter is using this level also. (Since i had already bought it). She use to love math, and now she dreads it. 😔 So now I'm planning on switching her as well. What do you do. Thats the great thing about homeschool. Not working you can adjust. 😊
@lifewithginab27 күн бұрын
@@user-bn7dg2km2d totally agree! The best thing about homeschooling is that you can find out what works best! I always recommend when using the good and the beautiful to print out sample lessons for a couple of weeks before purchasing since it's available for free. Thanks for sharing your experience ❤️

I love playing games with my oldest, who can read and understand instructions all by himself, and he also has the emotional capacity to lose sometimes. The rest of these kids, though. Nope. No games! 😂 That said, the “games” with level 1 have been fine. My kid actually thinks they’re games rather than the disguised practice they really are and they are super uncomplicated.
