Have you tried another system/chart before? Give me your pros & cons! Are you thinking you want to give the "Star System" a go? 😃🤩

I’ve tried a very similar system before, but I think it’s time to try it again. I think I’ll do it from now til Christmas which is 8 more weeks of school for us. 👍🏻It’s keeping track that is the hardest for me, but I like your method so I’m going to replicate that! ❤️

Smart to give yourself a goal amount of time to try it! I'm with you on the keeping track thing - the 2 charts on the wall have been a huge game changer for me!

@@MomaLady Aww! It can be harder for super hyper kids to sit still to read. Sometimes it's just about finally finding a book that grabs their attention! So maybe try different genres to see what hooks his interest! My son (who hated to read) got hooked on the "I Survived" series and that got him into reading finally!!

@@MomaLady Good for you!! It's definitely a learning process and I'm not sure if the learning ever stops! Lol! But I think that's actually a really cool part of the whole process!

How much iPad time do you allow each day? I struggle with this all the time!

On school days, we do 1 hour in the afternoons (but sometimes I'm lax and let them play a little longer). On weekends, we let them play in the morning for 1-2hrs plus an hour in the afternoon (or more if we don't have much going on).

How much time do you carve out for work( youtube) everyday?
@TheJohnsonCrew2 жыл бұрын
Great question! I haven't sat down and added up how much time exactly I spend on KZbin each week, but it's not something I have to work on every day. The amount of time a video takes to create & edit depends on the content (whether I had to script it or if I'm vlogging or taking lots of b-roll, etc). I probably spend on average 6hrs/wk working on my channel (some weeks more, some weeks less).

I love your idea!! I tried a reward system once. 😂 like you, I kept forgetting. That frustrated my oldest who is all about expectations and me following through. My middle child couldn’t care less about some of this. My youngest would love this though. Right now my middle child is perpetually grounded so I feel like she feels like “why bother….I’m just going to be grounded.” 😂 My only reward now is if you get your stuff done and don’t get in trouble, you can play Xbox at the end of the day. If you don’t, you can’t. And if you have a larger infraction, like rolling eyes or talking back, you get another day of grounding (a week if you have a meltdown) This is great that you are creating these great habits in your kids so young. Im thinking now….could this work to motivate my 13 year old??? So you mentioned what other prizes could you do as your kids get older. Money. 😀 last year, I handed our raffle tickets (though I was inconsistent - I still have them when I remembered including tickets for copying Latin charts for my son) and I made them keep track of their tickets and at the end of the year they could turn them in for .25 each. So I think I ended up giving my son like $20 (maybe more…I don’t remember). But he likes money. 😀 And then candy is always welcome. Maybe a trip out for ice cream or froyo! Extra time for video games. Sleeping in? Sigh….I like your system. It’s got me thinking. 😉

Thanks for sharing that!! I think it could totally motivate your 13yo - let them help you determine the rewards they can earn ;) ...like money!! Yes, you're so right!! lol!! The tickets sound fun! I love all of these additional ideas! Thank you!! Let me know what you end up deciding to do!
