I'm a teacher, but came home to homeschool my daughter. Just starting preschool with her now. I've always loved schedules, thanks for sharing the way you do yours!

Mrs. Hasty's Classroom That is a big transition but it sounds like you are excited! Yes, schedules are so fun to watch - I learn so much for hearing what others do!

I really, really appreciate your attitude toward routine and schedule. With growing kids, yes, routines totally change. One works for a few months and then the naptime routine changes and everything else in the day has to change around it! But it's still worth finding those routines, because I think both kids and mama do better with a flexible routine.

Nice to find your channel! We are a family of 6. We have a 6yo, 4yo, and 2yo twins. I never thought that I would even meet someone with the same family dynamic as mines because everyone doesn't have twins and everything has to be planned around them right now. I totally agree that I definitely went through like over 10 different routines just trying to transition and reassess with the twins constant growth, nap transitions etc lol. I like your blocks. I just made our schedule before I watched your video and it is similar to yours. But we are just in the trial in error phase. I also rise at 5am when I can, I love that hour! We just started our 2nd yr of homeschool. What are you using to help keep your twins content while you homeschool your older littles? Thankful for your channel. Thanks for sharing your journey.

Juzanne VictoriouslySaved Johnson That is AWESOME! I haven’t meet anyone either with such a similar family structure ... you would definitely understand the twin aspect of life! Twins make things unique 🤣. So glad you found my channel - I’m going to tell my husband about it because I’m constantly saying that we can’t compare to other families because no one has these ages! As for distracting the twins for homeschool, I literally just filmed a video on that .. sharing my strategies and favorite toys - should be up next Tuesday!

@@sciencemama yes we definitely can't compare to other families lol. I'm constantly like has someone done this family structure before anyone??? Lol But it's great to be able to FINALLY gleam from someone else like you and to know that I'm not alone. Another great youtuber that I like that has almost the same family structure but she has 6 children is DownHomeLemonPie. You will like her channel too. I felt like I'm the first generation with my family structure and then your video pops up lol. I look forward to your video for more ways for me to settle the girls. I feel like homeschool routines are a living breathing thing. Routines are always changing and modifying to be able to fit what is needed for the day, which is the beauty of homeschooling! Even tho it changes I like you feel like you need a "base plan" so that there is always an idea of where to start. I know for me, there are some days during the year that it is like "what are we doing?' LOL...the routine chart is PERFECT for those days. It's funny how other days flow seamlessly without ever glancing at the routine plan.

Super helpful!! I commented before- but we have such a similar homeschool!! We’re using LOE, RightStart Math and Torchlight level 1 with my 1st grader! And I couldn’t believe it- my son’s name is Cedar too!! I’ve never heard anyone else use that name!!! 😍😍😍 How cool!!
@sciencemama4 жыл бұрын
Therese Perdue That is really cool!! We love the name and I also haven’t heard of many other kids with the name Cedar! That is pretty crazy that we also have similar curriculum tastes! What do you think of TL level 1 ... I’m always curious about it, but I love BYL!
@capturinglifeinprogress19994 жыл бұрын
This was really helpful. I like the way you organize to then write down a weekly schedule. I think a block schedule like that would be better for me than an hourly schedule. Right now I'm doing pre-k with my 4yo, with a 2.5yo tag-along, but I'm pregnant, so it's an odd time at our house. Starting in January we'll have a newborn, so I have no clue what our next year is going to be. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to adjust as we go, like you said.
@sciencemama4 жыл бұрын
I really do like block schedules and I feel like kids naturally pick up on the schedule that way ... and yes I'm sure it will change a bit come January, but you will find your rhythm! Congrats on your upcoming little one :)

Thanks for sharing. We just finished our first week of homeschool! Was wondering what you use for Bible study with the kids? We watch Storybook on youtube for our Bible study and then discuss. This week planning on incorporating a craft to extend discussion
@sciencemama4 жыл бұрын
Sylvia Jackman Congrats on your first week! We are in week 3 and it’s been a bit of a rocky start 🤣. We use a combination of a few different resources and just rotate between them! We do scripture memory using the Simply Charlotte Mason method - if you are interested in it, just search for it on YT, there are a number of good videos explaining it! We also use the Jesus Story Book Bible and a book called The Ology. This year we are also trying a missionary story book for kids! Hope that helps!

Hi Angie! I’m slowing going through a lot of your videos and am finding so many great ideas. You mention your kids doing an enrichment day. I’m curious what they do? I wish we had something like that in our city, but so far I’ve only found co ops where you go with them (which I’m not against, but it doesn’t give me a break ha!)
@sciencemama3 жыл бұрын
I love our enrichment day so much - 1) because the kids have fun doing messy art/science, cooking, martial arts, drama, etc but also 2) because I get a break!! I hope you can find something similar and I'm glad you are finding the videos helpful :)
@jenniferbrock47533 жыл бұрын
That’s so awesome! What a blessing! Yeah I would be sooo excited if we had that. But alas...will be thankful for other opportunities! Is your enrichment specifically geared towards those who homeschool?

Julie Quates Good, I’m glad it was helpful! Haha, I try to be asleep by 9-9:30 at the latest 😀. But all of my kids sleep through the night so it really helps that we are out of the baby/newborn phase!

Thanks for this! Excited to watch your other videos. We are starting 1st grade, pk4, preschool and I’ll have a baby this fall. So trying to see learn how to school since my oldest loves learning! How long are your terms? And when do you incorporate play? Outside time?
@sciencemama3 жыл бұрын
Hi, congrats on starting your homeschool journey! I feel like I'm constantly shifting my terms based on life - currently we are doing a 6 weeks on and 1 week off sort of schedule, which I am really liking! As for play, we don't really have a set recess but my kids play mostly in the afternoon and when it is warm they are always out back. Our backyard is right off the school room :)
@janerhee373 жыл бұрын
Looks like a wonderful plan. I just watched another video of yours that said you are working on a habit to go to bed early, I assume pretty early since you are waking up at 5am. With your kids waking up around 7am, when during the day before your own bedtime (is it 9pm?) do you do your planning and research (for school) and all that? Aside from all your regular mom tasks of cooking, cleaning, organizing and taking care of the kids outside of school? Thanks!
@sciencemama3 жыл бұрын
Haha, I’m actually thinking of putting a video together on this very topic! After having the twins I became are really systematic person - I have certain days for laundry, meal planning, cleaning etc ... and unless something crazy is going on I don’t deviate. As for homeschool prepping that is usually Sunday afternoons but I do find myself thinking about curriculum often 😀. I also find myself watching videos on other peoples tips and tricks for housework etc to try and streamline everything!!

Do you have incentives or ways to encourage them to do their chores? And what does their chore list look like? Also is your morning basket time done while they're eating breakfast? Do you do a PE time?
@sciencemama4 жыл бұрын
Hi! I am terrible at charts and incentives ... I have a tough time remembering to do them! Right now, the chore list is very simple ... my big kids have to make their beds, brush teeth, pick up dirty laundry, and get dressed. I've found it is easier to ask them to do extra stuff (load dishwasher, wipe table, etc) as I need help instead of making it a daily thing. Yes, most of the time I try and time morning basket with breakfast ... although sometimes it doesn't happen, so I just get out their Morning Time Activity bins to keep them at the table. No formal PE time ... our morning break or snack time is usually outside, I like to give the a bit of time to run around :) Hope that helps!
