Жыл бұрын

In this video, I let you see my recent thrifted haul for our homeschool. Homeschool materials are not cheap so I always check out our local thrift stores for items that I think can be used in multiple ways; not to mention that thrifting is also good for the environmental. I also show here how I set up a "playdough invitation' for my 3-year old daughter and I mention some of the benefits of this type of play including the importance of loose parts materials.
I hope that you find this video helpful and inspiring whether you are a homeschooler or a mom like me who wants to learn more about early childhood learning and homemaking. Let me know in the comment section if you have questions or if you want a specific topic that you want me to show here.
Again, thanks for being here and I hope you consider subscribing if you haven't done so.
Also, I post regularly on my Instagram page about setting up play invitations, homeschool fun, and other adventures. So if you’d like to see, I attached the link to my Instagram page below.

This reminds me a bit of my own childhood. My dad loved nature and we'd go outside a lot to " Enjoy God's work" and we collected anything from shells to craft with, flowers to press, and natural clay to make little pinch pots. In the summer we went bug hunting (tho his rule was we had to let the bugs go at the end of the day). My room had all sorts of little treasures and plants. I remember playing in the creeks, having picnics in the forest, just being so comfortable in nature. My mom was a strictly city girl, so it was on him to provide that natural connection to creation. I really appreciate how he didn't take me to Disneyland but to national parks, local and more well known ones. When I showed an interest in fossils, gems, and minerals, he'd take me to rock shows to pick out things to add to my collection or hed research where to find them in our state. I loved those little adventures. It didn't surprise him when I told him I'd be studying geology in college and bought a rock cutting machine. I miss him. He's in heaven now, but I know he's watching out for me as I have my own adventures out there.

This made me teary.🥹 Thanks for sharing this beautiful story of your childhood.💕 You were so blessed to have a father like him. I want that kind of childhood for my kids so I’m fighting hard for them to experience it somehow with our present time. I grew up in the countryside and spent all my waking hours outside adventuring when I was little and it was the best! Unlike yours, I just wish my papa didn’t have to work overseas so he can give us all the things we “needed” and more. But I know he did his best and he was a wonderful dad in his own way. His sacrifices to be away from us just to give us a good life inspired and guided me to make good decisions when I was younger. He passed away last September 2021 and miss him terribly everyday. But I’m just focusing on the fact that he’s now in heaven, far better than living on this fallen world.

Just found your channel! Beautiful channel and ideas I was wondering if you would be able to share birthday party idea setups? I'm torn with what to do that is minimal and entertaining for the kids for a special birthday for young ones.

Awww thank you! I’m so happy you found my channel. And how I love birthday party set ups! My girls are both summer babies so I find that celebrating it at a park with water spray or at a lake gives the kids a lot of things to do and entertain them. I also tend to have birthday themes based on my kids’ current interest. Like when my daughter was turning 8 and she’s so much into rocks and gems, so I threw her a “Rock and Mineral Party.” So the games and activities were related to that. I would be happy to document how I set up for my daughter’s up coming birthdays. But if you need ideas already maybe I can post on my community page here some photos and details of my daughters’ past birthdays? Let me know if that would be helpful.

@@adashofmerry so so helpful you are the sweetest for replying! I would love any inspiration you may have. I have 2 summer littles and one turning 1yo in April. He loves music so we are going with that as his theme, I'm stumped on how to not go too overboard with decorating and games and yet make it feel exciting! I would love any inspiration. You are so kind! I do not have an Instagram or any SM but KZbin Where could I find your community page?

If he loves music, I suggest to make a playlist of his favourite songs and play that in the background during his birthday party so there’s a sense of familiarity/security to him. The music can entertain him and help him not get overwhelmed by a lot of people. You can also have like a sort of a song number as an activity for everyone that they can dance and sing to while holding simple musical instruments like small tambourines and maracas that they can bring home as gifts at the end of the party (maybe that could be the last activity?). To keep the guests busy or entertained, you can set up a table where they can decorate cutout musical instruments out of cardboard with markers, paint, stickers, and other little things. A piñata is always fun to have-maybe make a guitar shaped one? Pinterest has tons of ideas and has helped me over the years!

Wish my kids were little , they are all grown up , wish I could have been more creative with them . Good thing my kids didn’t grow up with phones or tablets until they got older maybe 16 , wish I could have waited longer until they graduated from high school but live and learn .

Play dough never gets old in our home and we always make our own. If you have Instagram, I can tag you on my post there on the instructions on how to make them, otherwise I can share it here on my community page and tag you, or maybe I can make a play dough video recipe if that would be helpful. Let me know which one you prefer.💕
