I started watching your videos when my son was born in 2020.. you had recently had Jackson so your videos were very comforting and educational for me because both our sons were struggling with sleep at the time. We have been homeschooling our 5 year old since March and it has been going good! When my 16 month old is of age then I will homeschool her too! I am so passionate about it! I love how you can get your schoolday workbook stuff done quickly!

Friendly suggestion from a former educator: Sight words are important, but it will really help her reading skills if Riley can work on her phonics: letter sounds and then can practice decoding CVC words. Loved the video!

Thank you!!!! Yes, I had heard that too when I first started introducing sight words - so I stopped for a little bit and now she already knows her letter sounds so I figured it would be a good time to reintroduce them! Thanks for watching 🤍

I remember when my mom got me the frog book thing that comes with the pen and if you touch a work it will sound it out and read the word for you I have a learning disability and that helped me a lot always listening to it on repeat instead of always having my mom do it for me too

From another homeschool mama; I highly recommend logic of English, all about reading, and hooked on phonics. For learning to read. They all teach reading by phonics & phonetic awareness. Sounding out words is so important especially as they get older and they need to figure out words they don’t know, on their own.

I am considering timberdoodle curriculum kits once she would technically be prek 4 because they have it all planned out for you and just like you said it’s nice to have something to follow and then I supplement like you do which is what I’m doing now while she is 3

I started using that exact brain quest book with my sin about 2 months before he turned two! He loves it! We do a letter a week and learn the sound it makes!

So excited to do learning things like this in the future with my little one. She’s a few months older than Jackson. But I wanted to say thank you for the post you made on IG of teaching Jackson the ABC’s with the magnets and board. I went out and got one for my daughter and it helped her so much to not only find the letters but say them. We had just been using the puzzle. But I think taking the extra time to write them and go through everything with her, helped her learn and say each letter. So again, thank you Kayla.

Thank you for sharing what you’re doing with Riley for preschool at home! This gives me some ideas for my kids this summer. I’m in Ohio and the kids who are “older” in their grade are kids july/august/sept bdays. My daughter is sept bday and will be one of the oldest in her class. Many parents around where I live have their kids born in May/June/July wait to go to kindergarten bc they are close to the august cut off date. My daughter is finishing a “young 5s” program this year before she starts kindergarten in the fall.

She includes Jackson in the activities like she’ll work with her daughter on what they are working on and then while she’s doing that she’ll turn to Jackson and teach him colors words coloring activities and so on and so on if that makes any sense at all

While I think that homeschool isn’t personally for me, I like that you presented in a way where it’s attainable and doable. That being said if I were to homeschool my kids, all I’m saying is that once letters are introduced in math it’s game over for me and I am sending them to public school 😂😂😂

They have teacher math books on Amazon my mom got them while I was in high school and she would never lock her office at home so I’d just go in there and take the books and copy the answer my teacher knew and he was like I’m just happy you actually opened a book😂

..just thought I'd mention that on an other vlog I watch, the parents have the kids- age 3, and 2 twins-age 2- help put away all the toys before they get ready for bed- they do it all together as a family..............great habit to get into................

Great video love this one alot Riley is very little girl . .I have been doing learning time with my five year old and he supposed to go to kindergarten in August but to tell you the truth I don't really like that school that I would have to put him in my question is this if I homeschool him through kindergarten at home and out him next year in first grade would that be bad and hurt him at all .
