We’re secular homeschoolers who sometimes adapt religious curricula to our needs. My girls are in 1st and 4th this year and we’re using: Math-U-See Alpha and Delta(though we’ll switch to Beta and Epsilon before Christmas), Curiosity Chronicles Ancient Times for history, Blossom and Root year 1 for my 1st grader, and year 4 for my 4th, we also add in the Bravewriter Darts and Quill for the year. We use Soul Sparklettes for art, and we’re using the Simply Charlotte Mason Van Gogh picture study pack along with a DK book on Van Gogh before we see the immersive Van Gogh experience next month. We also mix in a bit of Exploring Nature with Children for nature study each week. We use handwriting without tears, and a few Evan Moor workbooks, and lots of games!

We are using Fix it Grammar for 8th grade. It covers vocabulary. I will use dictation with it to cover spelling. We use oral and written narration for all readings for my 2nd and 8th grader. Know and Tell by Karen Glass is a great resource for this. For my second grader we will use McGuffey readers for reading and copywork and All about spelling 1. I am switching my 2nd grader to mostly Spanish and French instruction. My 8th grader will be taking my High School Spanish course at our co-op. We use Ambleside Online, Abeka Math 2, and Saxon 8/7 for all other subjects.

@@TheHomeschoolConvert we supplement with worksheets I make myself or find online to reinforce concepts, but overall, it works great. Every book?) etc. We’ve been working on this for months and my oldest always just says she doesn’t know what happened or she gives one small meaningless detail.

We Love gentle grammar, and the McGuffey Readers. Just remember (I'm sure you already know, but for anyone that doesn't!) The McGuffey Readers aren't by grade!!! Primer is for Kinder and 1st grade, the first reader is for 2nd grade, the second reader is for 3rd and 4th grade, the third reader is for 5th and 6th grade, the fourth reader is for 7th and 8th grade, the 5th reader is for 9th and 10th grade, and the 6th reader is for 11th and 12th grade! So no need to rush on any of the readers. They're meant to be split in half for two grades, except the first reader (which is for 2nd grade!) Same for explode the code. 1-2 is for 1st grade, 3-4 is for 2nd grade, 5-6 is for 3rd grade, and 7-8 is for 4th grade. (What they're meant for, but obviously go at the child's pace!) If they need to slow down or speed up! Happy homeschooling!

Love your channel and absolutely love your resources💞 Had to check out Mom Delight’s page and so far I love what I see! I have a coming 2nd grader and Kindergartener. For my 2nd grader I am using First Language Lessons for grammar, Writing with Ease for copywork, Lightning Literature mainly for reading comprehension and their composition work and their grammar will be practice. My kids’ first language is spanish because we’re puertorricans and I feel the repetition of First Language Lessons will help establish the concepts lol. But I like to keep the lessons really short. No more than ten minutes. We will use All About Spelling and All About Reading. And finally Story of the World for history and God’s Design for Life for science. For my Kindergartner we’ll be using Simply K from Masterbooks and Math with Confidence. History and Science will be group subjects we will be doing as a family! I’m so looking forward to this new homeschool year. We also started homeschooling because of the pandemic and just fell in love❣️

Spelling Wisdom doesn’t need Using Language Well in order to be used, but Using Language well relies on Spelling Wisdom as its companion in order to be used. The website lays out how to use SW for transcription and then eventually studied dictation, which is how I intend to use it. Several of the language arts topics covered in book one of ULW Kennedy already has an understanding of, so I wanted to pull from other resources and really liked the layout of Language Lessons for Today so decided to go with that. Hope that makes sense!
