These are great tips! We have 6 kids 12 to 22 months and it is a struggle at these ages. One thing we've done for 2 years is that my husband takes the older 3 and does about an hour of intentional time with them before he leaves for work or over lunch. He does the hardest subjects with each kid during that time. I take the younger 3 and do "kindergarten", which is really just keeping them out of the way of his tutoring time. He does this about 2-3 times a week, so not every day. Life happens. This could work with hiring a mothers helper a homeschool kid from age 11-15 who can't get a job yet, but would want some experience and extra money :) This gives me lots of flexibility with the "easier" subjects that I don't have to pour energy into, like science, health, history, art appreciation.

Thanks for sharing! That is wonderful that your husband is able to teach the older kiddos on their harder subjects. I love hearing how dads are involved in homeschooling because it’s not something we hear about too often. I agree with the older homeschool teen being a mother’s helper. I wish I could hire one of those in my area 😉

@@beyondthebookshomeschool Sometimes I think moms don't think it's an option to ask for help. We think we can do it all on our own. There may be seasons when we can't have help, but I think that always looking towards an out-of-the-box solution for the long run is great. My husband actually took his least favorite subject becuase he was having so much fun learning it from the beginning with the kids. Now he's crazy about math! (Thank you Life of Fred curriculum!)
