your videos are the best I am currently doing a nail course at college and we need to learn the hand and arm massage ...and ive never done a massage in my life so struggling a bit with the massage ... I didn't understand what effleurage was/ment but after watching your I now understand the effleurage bit ...and hopefully after some more practice I learn the massage routine without having to look at the routine on paper

Amazing! Love the scottish accent! As a hand surgeon however I have to say: depending on the kind of injury massage may be really beneficial to the maturation of scars! However: use it careful and only if your doctor allows it!
@homespabeauty5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Your expert advice is noted and it's always drummed into us therapists when training to take GP's advice :)
@handsurgery5 жыл бұрын
@@homespabeauty you're welcome. But you should rather listen to the surgeon that the gp. I don't know how good the cooperation is (or the gps are) in the UK, but as a hand surgeon here in Germany I've had my share of poor experiences with things gps recomended......
@homespabeauty5 жыл бұрын
@@handsurgery I guess it'll be the same everywhere as we definitely have the same issues (that'll be for every industry though). We have to be guided by our insurers, so a letter from the GP to allow a treatment would be the consent needed for us to go ahead. We'd have to trust that this had taken in the expertise of a surgeon (if the client was under the care of one) but in today's climate it's harder to get those letters :)

Glad you find it so relaxing! Your nan would definitely feel the benefit as the heat generated can help with pain relief and mobility. Just make sure the pressure suits her and that you aren't doing any movements that make her feel uncomfortable. Even if it was just gentle effleurage it would still have benefits. Good luck :)

Is a very good massage,and the technique is different here in Brazil, it is very nice to have a video with this transparency teaching, congratulations! I loved!!
@homespabeauty12 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your recommendations. We enjoy hearing from fellow enthusiasts who use different techniques and we hope that the viewers who enjoy the tutorials read through the comments, take the advice that suits them and adapt all of the information to create their own unique routines. The joy of our industry is the variety of different massages from different therapists, each with their own way of working :)
@homespabeauty11 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The reason was that this tutorial is aimed at basic level & the fingers/digits are anatomically different to the thumb, with 3 phalanges each finger but only two in the thumb. This, coupled with the different positioning of the thumb means that it can be more susceptible to injury if you are too heavy handed or perform a movement incorrectly. We will be adding a hand and arm massage with more advanced techniques, including the thumb, but we thought this was a good one to get started :)

You didn't show it, but another very relaxing part of a hand massage is when the therapist interlaces their fingers with the client's, and then starts to rotate the client's wrist in a circular motion. When I had this done on me it felt oh so good!

You're right, that's a lovely movement to do too. We'll be uploading more massage tutorials soon and will make sure we include this. Thank you! We kept this as a simple introduction to a hand and arm massage and as the thumb is anatomically different to the fingers it is treated differently. We do massage the thenar eminence which is the muscle at the base of the thumb in the palm & also stretch & pull off at the thumb during the palm massage. We intend on doing a follow up video which will include additional moves (including specific techniques for the thumb) which you'll hopefully find helpful :)
