I was stuck on what to make for dinner yesterday afternoon. Then I watched your video and decided to make the same chicken pot pie and a triple berry crisp. My family LOVED it and asked if I will make it again very soon. (I guess I don't usually think to make chicken pot pie in the summer.) Thank you so much, Becky, for the inspiration! I love making dinners that are a huge hit AND fill my family's bellies with good protein & lots of veggies. Also, thanks for the tip on making several extra pie crusts to freeze. That is what often deters me from making pie crust more often - things are busy & I need something that is quick. A frozen homemade pie crust for pot pie or quiche is quick and delicious!

So nice to see others eating straight from the garden! A tip on the rhubarb, when you harvest, pull the whole stalk out. Cutting can allow disease to enter the plant. After you pull the stalk then you can cut the top and bottom off. But leaving it whole actually makes it last for days after harvest instead of having it dry out. Hope that helps! Love what you guys do and always find inspiration from your videos.

I agree about too much sugar in the crisp. The reason I think is because homegrown organic strawberries are way sweeter than store bought. They don't need the added sugar. Plus you're use to eating real food. Such an inspirational video. Love your long garden rows and large clean kitchen with great work space for the whole family. Very well thought out. I don´t have a garden but we can go to the strawberry fields and get some strawberry´s, then i go to the grocerie and get a few stick of rhubarb and then i make marmelade of that. 750 gr. strawberry + 250 gr. rhubarb (both all cut up )+ 500 gr sugarpektin mix. This is called a 2 : 1 Mix. ( 2 parts of fruit and one part of sugar) leave this batch sit over night smash al up in the blender and then boil all together hard for 3 min (boil and always stir it till the 3 min. are over) (be carefull this is the hardest part bc. everything is so hot) and straight away into the jars. close them all up and let it sit over night on the lid. No waterbath canning needed. It should last minimum a year, and after a year they get a little bit darker but not bad. Greetings from Germany

Ok. I've been waiting for a new video to ask you how you water your garden. We live in Utah and there is an ongoing draught and l need to water every day. I have put mulch on my garden and it has allowed me to water less. But my garden and flower bed take over and hour a day. I wondered how long yours takes to water. I could not do what you do but surely do admire you. Or..does it rain enough to water your garden?? It rained two days ago and what a break we got for one day.

hi , Im new to channel really enjoy your content. I wanted ask from parents perpesctive how much do you share with your childrens in terms of why your prepping? Do you explain the reason behind to the children?
@TheSeasonalHomestead2 жыл бұрын
Good question . They are involved in all of it. Our preparations aren’t for an apocalypse, but more so for our health, and so we can be less reliant on outside sources if food shortages or inflation were to ever happen. We don’t do this out of fear, but out of benefit, and our kids see that and appreciate it.
