Miss Marie, my first crop of green beans was in 1968. Mom and dad said I would’nt get any beans, we’ll I fooled them! I planted 3 plants, in a small, south facing planter near our pool. I got three meals worth of beans! Keep encouraging your kids, and grandys to grow their groceries. Yes, yes! Blessings for mild weather!

So right, that bright color should make me happier at picking time. Waiting for early March to plant my red burgundy beans in little green house. The green ones are fun to grow and harvest but I want the burgundy to grow well and be able to see them easier for picking, the loss of color is no problem at all.

I planted Burgandy Bush beans this week, the day after I harvested my first ever crop of potatoes! I'm so excited to see them. I don't eat snaps (but who knows, growing my own, and the flavor of these), but husband does, my mama definitely does, and my best friend looooves those crispy green bean "chips". I wonder if lower dehydrator temps might let them stay burgandy? Probably not.
