I am at the start my cargo trailer camper planning and this entire series is awesome. Thanks for much for posting these videos! I look forward to making cabinets similar to yours with "pocket holes". Simple, lightweight and functional.

Having a background in metalworking, I love watching metal workers do projects in wood. We don't abide by the saying, "trim will cover it". We try to make things fit perfectly lol. Great job by the way!

A quick cabinet build. That''s what trim is all about...covering up what didn't come out quite right. Looks good , lasts a long time! I have used similar built technics. I built a folding screen using M&T for the corners and that thin Luan plywood. It came out nice and square and straight. I used the hinges that fold either way...2-way or 3-way...can't bring proper name to mind. Keep the good videos coming.
@homesteadonomics6 жыл бұрын
MrFyxr yes those are some neat kind of hinges! And I’ll bet your screen is holding up very nice....mortise and tenon is a real nice touch and super strong too!😀👍

Predrilling holes make for less frustration. A paper template for the hole locations is a great aid.

Great build, love the approach of rounding over all the plywood at once, instead of using a chisel to make each of the inserts square !
@homesteadonomics6 жыл бұрын
thanks Sergio! yes, is sure made it a lot easier.... a little searching to find a template with the right radius but a little plastic bottle was eventually found that matched the inside curves :)

@homesteadonomics6 жыл бұрын
Ian Moss thanks Ian! I’m reaaaally looking forward to it....haha...it will be something that I believe we are going to start using before it’s completely finished....the bathroom/shower/or whatever area will likely be just an open space or shelves/cubbby storage for a while so we can get to using the trailer. But once the kitchen and front dinette are done I think we are gonna start putting some miles on it😀

Keep up the great work. I too am drooling over all your great tools and work area. I know your family will love and appreciate this camper when done. Your energy level is an inspiration. “Make it look like a real cabinet door”? You gotta be kidding dude, that is a cabinet better built than anything I’ve ever seen in an RV. Hell, the entire build is better quality than anything I’ve personally seen on the rv market.

I bought 12 metal bread bins from China. Screwed them to ply shelves. They are ultra light. Swing lids. No empty internal corner space. Allow ceiling to be seen above them giving illusion of space (full ceiling seen). Placed LED string lights top back of bins. All light. Best cupboards. Look like aircraft over lockers. Made 15’ trailer in shape of Airstream Basecamp with full panoramic front black “glass” curved above polished aluminium.

Sounds good, going to make storage under the bed or use it as a sofa that can be folded down to make a good sized bed? Coffee and reading comments are good thing, get some thoughts and ideas. Side question, how is the rain harvesting going with all the rain hear getting lately? fruit trees really taking off? Haven't shown us the garden area with the little swales and catchment basins.

Looking good sir, looking good. I really like those pocket hinges. I will have to remember that if we ever get around to fixing ours back to camping shape.
