At least for our standards. It's too much for both the young man and the young troll. They will meet the same fate as their now destroyed worlds. For the only worlds they know now is pain. It's finished for all of them. Their groups. You joined them once. Mostly, you watch them. Of course, all stories come to an end. Which, sadly, applies for theirs too. and this is around the end. I'm just thinking about how scary it must have been to be in Davesprite's doomed timeline. Imagine 2/3rds of your friends dying, the strangers who said that they would help you cutting off all communication, doing everything you could to try and fix the mess you and your only other friend were in for 4 months, and having come to the realization that your in a doomed timeline. The only way to get out of it is to either not exist (Rose) or travel back in time, abandoning your only friend whom you'll never see again and becoming a lesser version of yourself (Dave).

Welp, the end of an era is coming to a close. When the final page has been reached, let us all play this. It is proof of a story about four kids trying to survive in a game where there's renegade agents, whole other worlds to explore, and shenanigans of all sorts. It shows that when we think we know everything about where we are, we need to venture out and discover new things for ourselves. It is proof of a story of twelve trolls who overcame hardships, endured a fight for their lives several times, and of the moments when Hope turned dark and Rage took over completely. It is proof that when a mistake is made, we need to do all we can to make everything restart. It won't be entirely perfect, but it can lead to a whole other story, with major and minor differences. All in all, this is proof that people all over the world, young and old, big fans or reading just out of boredom, have been drawn together by this comic. No other webcomic does that, from all I've seen. We will never all meet, but we are all tied by this one thing. This webcomic. We've seen when our favourite characters died. We've seen the moments when the ones we hated showed a side that makes us feel bad for them. We've laughed with them, cried for them, we've been with them every step of the way. And now...we're saying goodbye to these great characters. When we reach that final page, let this song be played. Let this song remind us of a great legacy. Never forget.

This feels very bittersweet. I'm almost offensively late to the fandom, but this definitely aged well. It's sad. This all started so long ago and it's already over, so many people have come and gone, yet we can all still come back and remember the past when this was still new. Even if we started late, the feeling of time seems so much longer. It's honestly quite calming. To everybody who has been here, whether it be today or all the way back when this was uploaded. I'll miss all of you but hey, we did it. Homestuck was planned to end by Hussie so many times on 4/13, even a year after it was made, but we convinced him, we inspired, we paid and we got to extend it's life farther than Tavros' horns. John was 13 at the beginning, he's 20 now, and you know what? Homestuck usually makes zero sense, like how Casey got so much lore, or the fact that most of their parents or originators end up being their brother, sister, or even child. But it was funny, it was charming, and in the words of Dave Strider, It was ironic. Now come on, lets go warn some people about stairs. : )

BEcause whenever I've had a crappy day I know I can always come home and watch Homestuck, and see them work through their problems and I feel better because they're normal like me and it gives me hope that maybe I can deal with all the shit going on in my life.

god, its comment sections like this that really make me so sad. seeing what homestuck has become compared to what it was five years ago, there really are times where i wish i was born earlier. i don't think I'll ever feel what i felt with homestuck, and now, having grown up, i don't think I'll ever feel something comparable. i got into homestuck in 8th grade. i'm a junior now, so not many years have passed, but god, have things felt like static. i can't seem to figure out what's wrong with me. but back then, i really did feel true bliss. when i sat down in my friend's basement and watched a mituna and cronus fandub for the first time, I've never felt so alive. as shitty as times were, i really, really felt what it was to feel. nowadays nothing feels really the same. things are dull now, i can't describe it other than a mind fog. and sometimes ill try to look back at old homestuck videos i watched about four years ago, only to find out that these videos have been taken down or deleted. even now I'm trying to dig and dig to find SOMETHING that will let me feel even a kneescrape of what i had before. yet all i'm finding are dead ends. i can only dig far enough to see the glow of what could've been. of what i could've felt. and i'm starting to give up. homestuck really was the best thing that's happened to me, as shitty as it is. but homestuck is dead now. i watched the fandom fight so hard in the years i was in it, fighting to stay alive, and i really, _truly_ believed it would keep going. but it's over now. just a ghost town of what it was. it was a long, amazing run. and i do want to cry saying it, as pathetic as it is. there's nothing left for us here. we really did hit a game over with this fandom, huh?

i felt this way for a while. i got into it as a middle schooler, and i'm a sophomore in college now. it hurts to leave your childhood behind, and seeing dead links and x years old on pieces of media hurts in a special sort of new age way. yet, homestuck has left a unmistakable mark on pop culture. toby fox is out there making amazing video games, and has come a long way from hussie's basement. people are still churning out new content too, albeit at a smaller magnitude, but theres still a community if you look for it. i know there is a continual fan project continuing off the end of the comic, since the official version is bad. things.. aren't meant to go forever. it sucks. thinking about how 2016 was 6 years ago makes me kinda sick, honestly.
