One of the first videos I've been able to fully follow and comprehend on studio one so far. This not only gave me new inspiration and guidance to correction, but it broke down simple explanations of technical jargon so that step by step I could draw out a real road map and get started with little to no questions asked. Fantastic teaching, thank you very much!!!

The mic I've been using for the past year & a half is the Audio-Technica AT2020. It was $99 on Amazon. Right now it's regularly $119, on sale for $109. I would recommend this mic to EVERYONE! It's well worth the money, and sounds crystal clear!!!

Excellent content. I really love how you take us step by step and show the results after each step, helps train the ear. I like the simplicity of the approach too. The results are really good considering how few plugins you used. I'd love a video about parallel compressions. Do you prefer to use a mix knob or a send? When WOULDN'T you use parallel compression on a vocal? Thanks!

thanks for this, for some reason now i understand what is being done during eqing and with immediate practice i can see how it has changed my mixing DRASTICALLY, the way you boost those frequencies while trying to find the unwanted ones before cutting them out makes it so clear on what to cut out...im sooooo happy about this... thank you

Your videos are invaluable. I've never been happy with my own vocal in a mix, probably because for most of the time I can't sing. But on those rare occasions when I thought my vocals were no' bad, they just didn't sit in the mix. Too much footering and fiddling with this effect and that effect and in the end you totally lose what the vocal is all about. I've just finished a song using your advice and it's probably the first vocal I've really been happy with. Thank you.

I tend these days to grab a dynamic EQ to tame the "bad' build-ups frequencies that occurs on only a few spots of the track.Feels more natural as static substractive curves sometimes tend to act too much where I don't want to. Static Eqs moves on high-pass filter , and boosting air are OK of course. Nice video anyway !

Exactly. I would have used a DEQ for that super narrow cut he did on the 2.5khz frequency of the “don’t beliEve…” he called annoying.

I was mixing vocals this week. After a lot of trial and error, I decided to start all over again and use slight adjustments which open up the vocals, a touch of analog delay to get it sounding brighter the rest of the vocal sounded warm but had to take out some of the mud and tops so it doesn't sound tinny. The vocals are now sitting in the mix better. All using studio One stock plug-ins although I have Waves plug-ins, which I haven't used yet. Good video but you are right to try and get a good signal coming in first so you don't have to waste time fixing things.

and another very important tip, NEVER EVER when recording vocals, stop for the day to continue the next day!
@soarinskies11052 жыл бұрын
Why?
@ManiacalMidget132 жыл бұрын
@@soarinskies1105 Because (IMO) and in my situation, your voices changes daily even subtly and you also lose motivation the longer you go without finishing said track. Also what can happen is Unless you have your levels set on your mixer, mic or Audio Interface, you can get quieter or louder vocals. it can all become a train wreck and make you not even want to finish the song.
