Thanks for coming to Dickenson County aka #VAsBaby to feature our wonderful people and small towns! I left here after college but soon returned and built my life here-7th generation to do so. No place like it.

I was born in Dickenson County over 74 years ago. My Dad was a coal miner, and we moved often to where he could find work. I was born in West Dante in a little house on the hill behind Phillips Store. It was nice to watch this episode because it's about my home. Though I left there in 1969, I still love the area, and I live in Florida now and don't make it up that way often. Many of you may know my brother Ken, he is the mayor of St. Paul, VA. I love this series. The productions are top-notch. Thank you!

I wasn't sure if PBS was still doing this series on SWVA coal towns. To see a new video hit was a real surprise. One of the best series PBS has every done. Josh the narrator from Mountain Roots is amazing. Nobody does it better. The one negative thing i will say is that this Buchanan County Industrial development association masks itself as doing good for the commmunity but what they don't tell you is that by bringing all these services into that small rural community, you are going to change it in ways that are not all positive. The reason that county is so beautiful is because there aren't any industrial parks and regional airports. All that pitch on tourism only destroys the county they are trying to save. I'm against any mass development of that nature.

My great Uncle Charles was the only pharmacist in Grundy for a very long time. I’ve always had a kinship with it. Most of my family are from Russell county though which isn’t that far from there. I now reside in Abingdon Va. Thank you for covering our area looking forward to more
