I agree with this. The fact that in my school, the ceremony starts at 7:15 and class starts at 7:30am to 5:00pm. Then we’re given homework, and sometimes it’s really difficult to even answer it. Even my parents couldn’t answer some. It’s torture already, and it also gives stress when we can’t even answer it. We don’t get punishments, but they’ll say “It’s your fault that you did not answer”. Luckily there are some days that there’ll be no homework. Still, it’s really bad and should be only a punishment. The quote: “If school isn’t a place to sleep, then home isn’t a place to work.” Truly the greatest quote.

@FreddiesVG4445 Жыл бұрын
Do you do extracurriculars like sports? Because if not then you only have yourself to blame, when you get back home at 3 it should last until 5pm max if you’re teachers really decided to unload a ton of work on you. If you’re really focused homework should only take like an hour to an hour and a half after school. At that point you have like 5 whole hours to yourself and since school starts at around 8 for most people. You also get more then enough time for sleep. It’s just an issue you have with time management, I do track and band and I enter school at 7:00 am and leave school at 5:30 pm and homework for me only lasts until 7 which gives me a good amount of time for myself and enough time for adequate sleep. People who complain about little sleep from school just have shitty time management or just procrastinate a ton on their work. Both of which, are your own fault.

Wish I could send this to every single one of my teachers … I dealt with ADD and a chaotic home (in two different homes) plus AP classes… my homework always kept me up till 3-5am… I’d go to school exhausted and falling asleep in half my classes and constantly turning in work late because I would get so behind on a daily basis. Not being able to focus in school increased the amount of work I’d take home and overall had a very negative impact on my health. I barely graduated high school and when I tried to study in college.. my health, at 19, was poorly declining, to the point where I was so far behind I ended up dropping out before I finished a full year. I didn’t retain the majority of what I learned in school or most of what I did learn proved to be useless information… the current education system is not designed to encourage individuality, but conformity and compliance, and if you don’t fit perfectly in the cookie cutter mold, you will fall through the cracks and labeled a failure. The education system needs drastic reformation.

@QueenLayla392 жыл бұрын
That, and/or it's just practice that has no grade to it besides a few completion points. I've had Math teachers make homework Participation points (Like only 1% to 5% of total grade in the end so it's not really much) so even if you got it wrong, as long as you tried you got a 100% on it, and would start the class going over the homework to see if we understand the work or not. And not doing it didn't hurt you, it was just a "Oh okay" and move on from it. Definitely some the best teachers I learned from

It’s terrible and I only get a few hours of free time because right as I get home I have to do homework, I wake up at 5:30 and come home at 3:30 at this point it makes me tired and brings down my grade rather than up. The worst thing about homework, is you often can’t get it controlled for errors or even get help, so much of it is stressful busywork. In my country, children of academics do significantly better in school than most of the other kids, because the academic parents are able to act as their reserve teachers. The other parents often aren’t able to help with homework when the children get into the higher grades, because they don’t have a relevant education.

Yeah, homework really stresses me out and I don’t even get it everyday, my best friend in another school she gets multiple bits of homework everyday, I dread to think what that would be like and she always has to cut our hang out time short so she can go do homework. It’s horrible and the school she goes to which I used to go to is absolutely horrendous. Homework shouldn’t exist, I understand that it can help some kids but I get so overwhelmed and stressed about it that I’ll scratch myself and I’ll just cry, this is mainly maths homework because the surface area of a cylinder had been the bane of my existence for a while, than I was given another question which we never learnt about and I just gave up. It’s especially bad when if you get questions wrong you have to do them over and over again until you get it right, at my school you have to be in a green section or you’ll get detention, in my friends school you can’t even get a question wrong, I’m pretty sure I’m allowed like 1 question to be wrong but hers just doesn’t let her continue till she gets it right, I know this because I used to have to do it, f you sparx.

Also waking up early for school is medically proven to be bad for students, especially teens. Because an average human's sleep cycle changes over the years, and teens naturally tend to sleep later in the night and wake up later in the day. The issue: working-class parents treat school as a daycare system for their kid, which is why most plans to decrease time spent in school or make schools start later are met with criticism or outrage, despite typically being better for the students. While students see homework as a chore/stress/punishment, parents see it as another way to get kids out of their hair, so unless that attitude changes, you’ll never have parental support behind the move.

Many school don’t consider that many kids have a terrible home life. Most of the kids who never keep up with homework aren’t “bad” “irresponsible” or “lazy.” They’re just too busy trying to survive at home to worry about homework. Not everyone has parents that will help with homework and make sure you keep up with it. You’re not gonna feel motivated to worry about homework when your constantly getting neglected, yelled at, and/or abused. This. My highschool in the last 2 years I was there transitioned to online homework... I didnt have internet! I lived in the country where internet was still very unreliable, and so did many other students. And they had also phased out computer labs! What sort of backwards thinking is that? Get rid of school computers, and make all the work online???? I was one of the top students of my class and holy fuck it was a struggle. I would sneak into the library after hours and use an admin password to use one of the remaining conputers. Cant imagine what it was like for kids worse off than me, I was always pissed and telling the staff about it. They agreed, but didnt seem to be able to do anything about it. Poor funding and labour strikes made the whole thing a mess (labour strikes were justified, still sucked as a student)

majority of the students at my school (from my perspective) seem to be in the "has a bad home life" or "has no free time at home"(sports and work kind of stuff) category. yet teachers seem to not care and will have a big assignment every other week slowly becoming bigger and bigger in scope until the end of the semester where no ones really knows what will happen. maybe we'll kind of just chill out for a couple weeks until things ramp up again or maybe we'll continue where we left off. but either way it eats up time some of us don't have. all of the most productive and efficient students that go to class with me still end up with homework.
