Hollywood (AKA Tinseltown) is a district of the City of Los Angeles, has been formally recognized since 1887 (before it became famous), and does not have its own municipal government. So, in short, it's part of LA. Most people think of it as its own thing because it has such a strong identity.

The Silver City is another term for Heaven like how Tartarus, The Underworld or Land of Hades are for terms for Hell.
@CatBxtchNami2 ай бұрын
Sometimes they use it to mean somewhere in heaven beyond the pearly gates. Perhaps the place where people stay.
@gampie132 ай бұрын
tartarus, the underworld or the land of hades are not another term for hell. They are their own theological locations from different mythos
@Sam-im5tcАй бұрын
Uhhhhhhh last I checked those last 3 are all locations in Greek Myth.
@gampie13Ай бұрын
@@Sam-im5tc yes and no, it depends what underworld we are speaking about. And that comes down to the history of the english language. yes all 3 are also locations in Greek myth, but "underworld" specifically, can literally be almost all mythos in existence that deal with the afterlife, due to how Christian priests and monks recorded pagan and pantheistic faith/myth. An example can be found in how Christian priests/monks recorded and transformed Chernabog from slavic folk lore. By transforming the original in to an approximation to the devil in Abrahamic mythos, when the original was a way more grey shaded character, and not the incarnation of evil that the devil is. The same vent with almost all pagan/European mythos they recorded, and the world underworld, was used for all afterlives that where not heaven from Christian faith. Hence why underworld, can be close to all indo-European mythos afterlife.

This brings up an old Religious Debate; one that many people, including Priests, have with each other. "Is the Devil truly Evil?" The debate usually takes the same path when I bring it up with people. For information, I am Catholic, my whole family is. I just aim the path the same direction because there is not many people who can argue beyond one particular point. Going to put this in simple terms. Lucifer rebelled because of his jealousy towards Humanity. However, God gave Humanity one thing he did not give Angels; Free Will. Thus Lucifer could not have rebelled. Furthermore, if at some point God did give Angels free will it would mean that God is not almighty if an Angel that he created could launch a war against him without him knowing. The debate always leans towards Lucifer playing the part that God assigned him. Which by the way, I love that the tv series Lucifer took it in that direction. When you think about it; assigning such a tragic role to one of your favorite sons could be seen as a sign of love as well. Giving such an important role, even one of a villain, to your own son. You cannot have Light without Darkness. You cannot have Good without Evil. Yin and Yang. God was never truly good or evil. You can question, rightfully, the choice to make himself the Light and Lucifer the Dark instead of the other way around but it is still an important role. I don't think it's wrong to question God; blindly following someone isn't the answer. When I die, if I get to Heaven even I plan on asking God "What the f- were you thinking!?". Not only about his own choices but some of the things that were allowed to happen as well. Speaks volumes to a person, a Human, who was given free will when they blame their mistakes and choices on the Devil rather than taking responsibility for their own actions as well. If someone blames the Devil rather than take responsibility for their choices God would see right through that. Pretty sure they would go to Hell; in a way punishing them for blaming their vile choices on his son.

God himself states in the bible that he is the one who creates both good AND evil. Everything. I do not understand why people believe Lucifer is responsible for evil.
@CruxusAshbourne2 ай бұрын
@@TheBlackLakeSiren That’s very true and it’s always bothered me that people take it to the extreme. It’s not black and white, there’s a massive gray area that would probably make more sense thinking of it as a grayscale. “The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.”. Good intentions often involve acts of good and kindness which can lead to bad things; to put it lightly. If good can lead a person to Hell then in turn some acts of evil could lead to Heaven. Crime and criminals for example. Being an executioner; are you doing it out of hate or just a job? Not very noble but what about those who bare the sacrifice of it so that good people don’t have to. Rambling a bit but I do like how Lucifer struggles with these throughout the series. It’s real growth.
@filipvadas76022 ай бұрын
I think an important aspect of it is also that Lucifer doesn't *create* or *bring about* Evil directly. He merely facilitates it by tempting and playing to mankind's vanity for his own amusement. We are responsible for our own decisions after all, we don't HAVE to listen to that little voice that tells us to "take what we want" *all the time.* Which tracks with not just THIS Lucifer, but with other ,and some of the BEST, iterations in fiction like Constantine & Sandman (both based on the same Lucifer as Tom Ellis's iteration tbf) , Devil's Advocate and The Prophecy. All of which depict The Devil as being immensely powerfull, but also childish and spiteful because he can only have as much power as you give him. Its also a matter of "responsobility" if that makes sense. The Angels are immensely powerfull and so they are given WAY less leeway by God. Compared to humans which seem to be given more of a pass as long as the desire for redemption and repentance is genuine. Or maybe The Devil is just so hateful that even if offered the opportunity to come back to Heaven, he wouldn't take it out of pettiness.
@jameslemons73042 ай бұрын
I disagree on the point that Angel's don't have Free Will. Where Angels and humans differ, I believe, is in the knowledge of Good and Evil. Angels are born with all knowledge of Good and Evil, so when they do make a Free Will choice, such as Lucifer and 1/3 of the Angelic Host rebelling against God, God is unable to forgive them because they did it knowing it was wrong. Humans on the other hand, don't have the knowledge of Good and Evil. If we can choose God over our selfishness, thru the sacrificial blood of Jesus he is able to accept our sins having been atoned for. I do agree, I like how this show looks at Lucifer not as evil incarnate, but as a son who doesn't understand his Father's choice and guidance for this life, so he rebels like a little child. The idea of Lucifer not tricking us into doing bad, just providing us the rope to hang ourselves, does make one think about ones own choices in life.
@CruxusAshbourne2 ай бұрын
@@jameslemons7304 God gave the Angels Personality, Intellect, Emotions, Will and the power of Self-Determination; which does in fact that mean that they do, they have the power of choice. However, It's only described as Free Will for Humanity; for Angels it is only described as self-determination. I still think it was part of God's plan for it to end up the way it did; Angels remaining in Heaven, in service of God are called Sinless. In scripture when something is Holy or in Heaven it is called sinless but it depicts them as living their lives in God's service. Doing what is expected of them, commanded of them or what they think will make God happy. The Angels who have sinned are those who exercised their Will and Self-Determination. In various ways I assume as it is said that Lucifer wanted to put himself on par with God but I believe that not every Angel that rebelled wanted the same thing. Point is they were cast out for exercising that which does not sound like Free Will. This is running long but looking back at Judaism; Angels do not have Free Will because they are not Human and do not have Human traits. However, Lucifer does not fall but he still challenges God by dawning a mask and calling himself Satan (Job 1:6-12) for example where God not only accepts these challenges but allows Lucifer to wreak havoc. Of course, the Jewish faith believes Angels are more robot-like but I use this as an example of Angels having 'the power of choice', acting on it in God's service they are sinless but when it is not in God's service they are fallen and cast out; that does not sound like Free Will. It's more like, Free Will behind a locked door and God giving you the strength to rip the door off the hinges but tells you not to. A lot like Adam and Eve with the Apple. Anyway, was just explaining the way I see it. We'll find out in the end anyway.
