Actually, the concept of cultural hibridity was not coined by Bhabha. It has a very long history in Latin American Studies. We find it in _Contrapunteo cubano del tabaco y del azúcar_ (1940) by Ortíz, _Los rios profundos_ (1958) by Arguedas, "Los procesos de transculturación en la narrativa latinoamericana" (1972) by Rama, _Culturas Hibridas_ (1989) by García Canclini, among many others.
