This episode was so sad, I don't care who sleeps with whom in their personal life; but if you're sleeping with both sexes simultaneously, be honest with people. Give them a choice! Michael Beachs (phenomenal actor) character infects his wife with HIV as a result of his deceit. In it's prime, 'Law & Order SVU' was such a hard hitting show, part of such a ground breaking franchise that has never shyed away from tackling hard hitting issues with such talented actors, writers etc, that has and continues to enthral and entertain so many as its done for decades. Not to mention the iconic opening monologue. Classic.

Im gonna assume you dont know what its like to be queer. Coming out to certain people can be a death sentence, especially back when this episode was out. Telling his wife that he had an affair and his affair partner had HIV would not have been a death sentence (he didn’t need to disclose who the affair partner was). such a sad episode In the end when she said she will never forgive him if he put their family and friends through a trial- so touching. Feel sorry for lgbtq people who have to hide their sexuality and be somewhere they are not. For BME communities it is exceptionally hard as there are expectations which ground people down.

ppl really forget bisexuality is a thing tbh, i do like how this ep brings out how homophobic and heteronormativity ran rampant in the black community because this is pretty accurate ....dl black men feel in anger when others could potentially find out and can assault others to keep it safe... not everyone yes but this is very real.

That’s what I was thinking. No way the victim’s ex-girlfriend would be allowed to be the lead detective, or have any involvement other than provide background on him.
