Its a deep and wonderful speech, I am blessed to hear. 10 yrs a go when I was Govt Advocate ( Mizoram) i call you by phone and after asking me who I am by your respected wife, the phone was passover to your goodself and respond me with a gentle voice telling me about the progress of increment of pension of the past pensioner. I still remember of your gentle voice. May the God bless you & your family to have a long wonderful life. 🙏

Missing part is what was it that allowed Indians of those times to welcome people from such varied backgrounds. I wish this was discussed. At the root of it is that India has the open mind and heart. Courage to allow people in. This talk is great but should have had must more of the side that allowed people in and what some of those people did. While ethically religions have commonality but the disease of conversion exists amongst Xtians. Justice missed that out as practice is important and not just principles.

Sorry Justice Nariman, but you erred on at least two counts, first Gandhiji was a staunch supporter of Chaturvarna system, so to call him a crusader against untouchability is a folly. Another one is your claim that Buddhists were harboured by India, the fact is Buddhism was systematically demolished by early Hindu preachers, notably Shankaracharya. Buddhism and Jainism were two major religions inhabiting amicably , till invader Aryans and their consociates systematically decimated thousands of Buddhist and Jain monks. Their vihars and Deta sara were demolished making way for temples. Many famous temples still have signs og Buddhism on its walls and pillars. I respect your vast knowledge, but you need to go deeper into ancient Indian history.

If every faith teaches only love, why then a few ones have conversion as a tenet? Therefore, any amity achieved can only be ephemeral and can't be lasting. The word love pulls wool over the tenet of proselytising, which by definition conveys intolerance in accepting others as they are. That way Dr Ambedkar was the only honest one in writing unequivocally that Islam operates itself as a State. That applies to all Abrahamic faiths. Only Ambedkar alone had the courage to discuss all faiths on their merits and examine their fundamental tenets on their merits. Love again by definition should be, as gift is defined in law, unconditional. Seeking subscribers is not love.

@@saifali3760 Thank you friend. Sorry to add that the very fact that one needs courage to dissect cross section of a few faiths tells a lot on the way they are practised. All that one needs to do is to get an international award on liberty, peace, constitutional expert, freedom of all kinds is to address an audience full of Hindus and speak on tolerance.

Obama writes about racial insults during college days. So should be for each black and asian students in schools - at least subtle ones. Aren't they Christians too? @@sm9214 Nariman was expounding on religious text not on what religious followers are doing. We have a constitution which uphold fraternity,equality,liberty and justice.Even though it is in the constitution ,is every indian upholding it every time? Can we blame constitution for that.It is people who creating the problem. As Ambedkar said “…however good a Constitution may be, it is sure to turn out bad because those who are called to work it, happen to be a bad lot. However bad a Constitution may be, it may turn out to be good if those who are called to work it, happen to be a good lot."
