Great conversation. However I seem to disagree with those who comment while having preconceived biases towards genders. First I am not one who believes in generalizations. Qualifying behavior bad or good behavior as those belonging to one or sex or the other is biased in its self. Having said that, I see the gentle lady who described her as Honorable Nabira’s lawyer seems to talk from a point of pain from experiences she’s heard from friends or experiences her self. That’s very dangerous especially when trying to help those facing gender based violence. Secondly, this goes to women. When we speak about gender based violence, it doesn’t only happen to women only. So many men die prematurely because they can’t come out to speak about their experiences. Thirdly, in any marriage, there is no one who can claim to be perfect. One thing leads to the other. And as the anger brews, It finally leads to scenarios like these. Finally, I think that honorable Nabira, as a person not as a woman as many have restricted this conversation to genders has a duty claim part of their marital property. She also has a duty to protect her name. She worked heard to make it. However, like Honorable Nsereko said, this name shaming should stop immediately. They should also take it out of the people’s court.
