Hi Nat. The centre stand pivot bolt does come out, although usually with a great deal of difficulty. The design is shit, and the aftermarket replacements I have seen have a grease nipple on the end. In any case, one end has a flange, obviously it comes out that way, it's tapped (M8, IIRC) on that end and if you don't have a press to push on the other end, the solution is called a slide hammering. Not a Del style "side hammering". If you don't have a "pro" model from Sealey, you can bodge a slide hammer up really easily with a length of the requisite size threaded rod, a big old chunk-o-steel drilled to slide on that, a couple of nuts and whatever you need to make sure the weight doesn't go over the nuts. Be careful not to trap that little flap of skin (the one you have between index finger and thumb) between the nuts and the weight when you're slide hammering, or you will dance a little jig. Ask how I know. I'm fairly sure it should have a side stand switch, although yours may have been removed. Mine had been shunted, but so had most of the electrics, it was a proper shed. Oh, and the centre stand pivot won't go anywhere if you don't remove all the ancilliaries, IIRC there's a bolt that keeps the pivot in place hidden behind the brake pedal.

I admire your dedication Nat, my memories of these bikes are not favourable. The collector box is made of tin foil and Honda managed to make the bike look a lot more than the sum of its parts actually cost. I hope you succeed in making it better than it was new 👍

Hey Nat, just the start of rebuilding the Super dream or Super nightmare 😉 Either way, it’s yours & you do it your way. Probably best to tear the engine down. Give it a good looking over & check the gearbox out. This is a great adventure!

Take a peace of copper pipe beat one end flat and you can use it as a backup bar to plug holes

Brazing is the default setting for thin exhausts or so I've been told.

Aye it is as you only melt the filler metal and only heat the parent metal.

If the insides are falling out of the collector box. Why repair it? Surely it would be better to replace it

Potentially mate but there is plenty to do before then.
