Love the video and the REAL data. I just installed the Mishimoto intake on my 21 2.0T Accord. I have a 87 Buick Grand National. There are so many factors that add to hp/to factors. I put down 470hp/540tq. Factory air box was a big factor. Very restricted. But k& n 10" filter and other moss made a huge difference!

@u-know-this2 жыл бұрын
Does the Grand national have an ecu? If not then thats your answer for the gain
@87gn932 жыл бұрын
@@u-know-this Yes, the GN has a ecu. It's a plug in prom chip tuned by Eric Marshall @ Turbo Tweak. There are 4 areas of this chip that can be adjusted by the user: WOT Fuel, WOT 1st Gear Fuel, WOT Timing for 1st/2nd gear, and WOT Timing for 3rd/4th gear. You do not have to adjust these, but it offers you a way of fine-tuning the chip for your car or conditions. You will need a scan tool that can display BLM and LV8 to make adjustments. Scanmaster, Turbolink, Directscan, OTC, Powerlogger, etc. will all work fine. I use the Scanmaster. My GN is setup for alcohol injection and you can use methanol or denatured alcohol. I normally run DA and around 25 psi of boost. I can run up to 30 psi of boost with my build. I don't push the turbo (Precision 6152), but I can if needed. I have a Pat's 3400 rpm stall converter, so there is no turbo lag. Tranny is built 200R4 with a shift kit and transmission brake. I can build boost at the line or light and then I'm gone. 0-60 in 3.4 on Beltronics Performance GPS meter.

These results don't surprise me. I have a K & N drop in filter on my '21 Accord Touring 2.0T. The only difference I noticed was throttle response was a little better. I have seen videos where Mishimoto did better with the additional, rectangular opening closed off. That might be something you compare!

So why is the torque increase with PRL drop in filter not being talked about? Between the 3 dyno runs with the PRL drop in had 3 to 8 ft/lbs of torque jump. That’s what gives the better throttle response that some in the comments have experienced.
@aehmerchant2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, the 2.0T really opens up with a Ktuner or Hondata tune than anything else. The high flow filter is better utilized with tune. I have stage 1 PRL and Ktune. Roughly 20 HP increase with 30 ft/lbs. A $600 cost. Not bad at all

Hey Chad, great video but are we really surprise? The manufacturers don't disclose video records of their test. None of them! Thank you for investing time and effort for those demonstration. What manufacturer really test is in fact the air volume (CFM) their filters help to produce and it is done in a lab. Not even bolted on a vehicule :( …there is an exception with Eventuri but you/they need a Tune to maximize performance with the air volume vs fuel ratio to produce more horse power.

Your Accord already has Ktune installed. I'm not sure if that plays a roll. It might adjust to what the Ktune is telling the computer to do with or without the new air intake. It makes believe that because the graphics are looking better but without any hp gain. You might be getting better performance without any hp gain. It happens all the time.

@@TheLemonFactor I ditto Craig. How long were you at the dyno for doing these tests?
@TheLemonFactor2 жыл бұрын
@@kentcurrie7326 About 3 hrs, but that's because of the need to properly cool down in between each run, and to have enough pulls (there were more than the 3 ea. identified in the video) to make sure we had consistency. Oh, and we needed to install the PRL Stage 1 (which didn't take long).

Craig, as you said that you've read yourself, CAI do nothing if not decrease power on the ND Miata. The two main aftermarket parts sellers (who want to sell them), Flyin' Miata and Goodwin-Racing, both say they are a waste of money. The stock airbox (already a CAI) is very well designed and supports up to 240hp. I'd much rather see Chad test a different company's tune or something than waste time and money on a known fail.

Pretty sure on stock car any intake won’t make a huge difference but if you throw on a type r turbo and exhaust mods with a stock intake choking the setup I would bet money that even a K&n panel filter would see 10-15whp it’s all relative to what mods you have done.

As was mentioned in the video, each run was done with sufficient time in-between each pull in order to have the engine coolant temperature (ECT) and intake air temperatures reach a point that was consistent across all dyno pulls, thus taking any detrimental effects of heat soak out of the equation.
