Honda / Acura - U3000 Internal Failure of SRS Airbag Control Module

Repair Solution of Internal Failure of Airbag SRS system. U3000 error or internal failure of SRS is very common in Honda, Acura, Mazda and Ford vehicles years 2012-2016. clearing crash data or reprogramming the airbag control module will not fix this this problem because this is a hardware malfunction replacing the airbag module and reprogramming the ODS / OPDS is the only solution.

Great video Was that a brand new unit or from another car and did it need coding to the car.

it was from parts car, it only needed copying of data from old unit to new one

How did you copy old data to new module didn’t see you do that in vid unless misssed it?

I used a MCU / EEPROM programmer. Had to desolder the chip from both SRS ECUs and manually copy the data. If you need such procedure done I can do it for you

So the solution prior to the occupant sensor calibration, was mostly due to you installing a brand new srs module?

Yes, because if SRS Control Module fails all of a sudden it will shows either "internal failure" or "no communication". usually it's the cpu microcontroller that fails on Hondas / Acuras often. otherwise if its just crash data from an accident it will just need crash cleared in the SRS Control Module

Oh I see. Because I have 2 sra modules from a 2015 Ford Focus that have had the crash data removed, one was cloned from a virgin module. But they both are showinge the u3000 code. But when I install an srs module from a clean vehicle that hasn't been in a crash, it does work and shows no u3000 code

Need to get the module reset or it could be bad module

@@albertgiles5128 the Internal failure code came up while car was driven. Reset is only needed when car has crash data from an accident.

What kind of scanner you are using

Any scanner that has dealership capabilities should be able to do it. They usually cost $1k and up. Plus you need external mcu and eeprom programmer to copy the data
