Great review. I’ve got mine for a month now and I was concerned that I would miss the power of my other bikes. Turns out the ADV350 has plenty of power to cruise at 80mph at around 7000 rpm on motorway. Top speed for me was around 93mph. As you said it very easy to maneuver in town. This makes the perfect commuter scooter. I went to Thailand a few years ago and during our time there we hired a scooter. It was ok much fun and the weather was sublime. Enjoy sir!

No road rage, you can split, passing over without any honk or middle finger. As you said just relax and enjoy. Althought traffic looks on video so chaotic and grazy but truethly it flow so smoothly. I live in Saigon and no one drives these big scooters that are common in Thailand. They're not so practical as a city bike for Saigon or Bangkok. I drive a Vario which seems very similar to the new Click models I rent in Phuket and Palawan. For longer rides I thought the PCX felt more stable but I hardly ride for more than 40 mins anyway. I used an old Honda Blade for a few hundred km in Ha Giang! They're a good work horse for the hills and twisties I'm not afraid to get scratched up.

I rented a 110cc Honda Vision in Saigon a few months ago. My wife had a Honda Wave in Thailand, which I think is the Blade in Vietnam. I was happy riding the Vision in Saigon traffic. I forgot how crazy busy those streets are during rush hour traffic.

Great video. Im also an expat (UK) living in Thailand. I've had this model on order with my nearest Honda 'Big Wing' dealer near Hua Hin, since it was launched in Thailand 6 months ago but still no sign of an allocation! I believe they are more freely available vis Bangkok dealers but it's frustrating having to wait so long with no useful updates from the dealer!

Wow! I'm surprised the wait is so long. Mr. Deen Big Bike sent me a message asking my opinion about the ADV 350 and if people would rent it. "Absolutely, you should buy," was my response. Two days later, he had a new ADV 350 for me to rent. Also, when I went to dealerships, there was a red ADV 350 for sale in Pattaya. It was there for at least 2 weeks. I still haven't seen an ADV 160 on a showroom floor.

My PCX125 is too weak uphill, and my Hornet 750 is tempting me a little too much to break the law. So now I'm selling both and getting an ADV350 here in Turkey. I also thought about a Beverly 400 since we dont have a Forza 350 here and only a 250cc. But the Piaggio Beverly looks a little too classic even though it's more powerful and cheaper than the ADV350. That I will save for an older age perhaps. And the Xmax300 is not as superior as the Honda in many ways. So looking forward to my new ride. Thanks Jake.

I’ve been riding scooters for a dozen or more years now .. scooters have really turned me away from motorcycles in general .. mainly from the ease of use and trunk space .. my 1st large scooter was the Suzuki Burgman 400 .. the main thing that I’ve found is that I wish they would put an extra cylinder for easier riding at higher speeds .. But in the Philippines to be able to ride on the toll roads a 400cc or larger is required .. so to me the perfect scooter would be a Honda ADV 400cc 2cylinder single overhead cam .. I really like the look of the ADV reminds me of the BMW scooters but with better trunk space .. take care 👍🏽🤙🏽

The best looking scooter by far is the 2023 Yamaha BWS 125 in Black, was thinking about the Xmax 300 till I seen the BWS 125 I have a Honda CB 500X for the highway, so the BWS 125 will do for the back roads and around towns and villages, and dirt roads. Just one look at the black one and it won my heart. With the flat floor it will be great for things like getting my gas containers filled up for my garden tractors and tiller, easy put a 25 liter one between my feet. It is lacking some on storage, but again I have the CB500X with GIVI treker 33/64 liter side case and top box. The more I look at the Black BWS 125, the more I like it. Do not think any other scooter comes close for looks and 2.3 liters per 100 km is nice as well (101 mpg) Though I was doing good getting 3.2 liters per hundred on the CB500X.

@@EldironRPG The stock suspension on the Forza seemed ok until I rode an XMAX and the ADV 350. The stock rear suspension is especially harsh on the Forza. I like the performance of the Forza, but ride quality is more important for me on these rough roads. I'd love to ride a Forza with an upgraded after-market suspension.

I think you just hit it out of the park with this review. I ride the Forza in Thailand which I prefer to the Xmax because it sits me higher so I can get a better look over the traffic on the road ahead of me. It also seems heavier and more stable at speed on the expressways, especially when passing those big trucks. A buddy bought an ADV 350, and I have to admit that it is a nice machine. I have no intention of riding off road, and despite potential crotch rot, you will thank that bigger fairing and higher adjustable windscreen on the Forza when it rains or the bugs are flying. For now, the Forza gets my 5’11”, 220 lb geezer lard ass around Rayong quite nimbly, and effortlessly down Thailand’s extensive freeway system. Rumours are that Honda will be coming out with an ADV twin cylinder 500cc soon. That would probably be my next upgrade to make putting the wife on the back seat a better touring option. Cheers.

Hi, I've ridden X-ADV for 300km and ADV350 for 15 minutes. I still can't decide. My main worry is (besides the price) probably the weight of X-ADV, I struggled hard to go reverse with my feet, if it fell over on the ground, I am not sure I would be able to pick it back up, even on a flat ground. So the paradox is, I would feel scared going offroad with it, I used to go offroad with my Yamaha NMAX 125 (125cc scooters have excellent clearance), and that thing if there was uneven terrain or some issue, i could throw it around on my own. After I got off day of riding with X-ADV and switched to ADV350, it felt super light and nimble (despite only being an additional 50kg difference), its probably so much better for anything except highway in terms of handling. That being said, X-ADV on sport mode is a fun beast, and I quite like how it pulls and sounds. I know 600cc naked pulls much harder, but for me that's actually too much, I don't wanna worry about falling of the motorcycle or doing an unintentional wheelie :). It feels like a dilemma :). ADV350 feels so freakin easy to ride, honestly I try to avoid highways, so for city riding and outside of city capped at about 100 kmh as per my usual ride style, its probably just enough capable, to handle even going uphill well at 100kmh or accelerating around those speeds better than 125cc scooter. X-ADV is an engineering marvel though, and a motorcycle. It's exciting. What are your thoughts? Could the heaviness of X-ADV be too much of a problem in long-term for smaller guy (170cm)?
@JakeSnowLiveSimple
@JakeSnowLiveSimple Жыл бұрын
I rode the X ADV 750 for a few weeks. It's a lot of fun on the main highways, but feels like a cumbersome tank in heavy city traffic. I didn't like it off road, it's too heavy to be enjoyable. After a day of riding the X ADV I felt tired. After a day of riding a 150 - 350cc scooter I felt fine. If I had a lot of faster open road to ride and rarely encountered heavy city traffic I think the X ADV would be a good choice. For me though, I spend much of my time commuting in the city so the ADV 350 is much better. It's fun in tight traffic, on dirt road, and it's easy to park. The X-ADV in comparison is a beast.

I can understand your issue. I had a Kymco AK550 and was intimidated by it's weight to begin with - but it got much easier over time and I think you will find the same with the 750. I am 171cm. BUT...if you do not tour, the 330cc is awesome for your riding patterns IMO.

@@JakeSnowLiveSimple Hi Jake, it was brilliant to ride in all conditions.. touring, twistiest and city riding where surprisingly, it was easy to filter on. It offered great rain protection especially for the legs as well. But some parts were corroding and the switch gear was sub-standard. And it was a dog for a mechanic to work on. I live in the Pattaya/Jomtien area I ended up buying the ADV160 for approx 105,000 baht($2,850) and my neighbor went to the BKK Auto Show and ordered the ADV350 for 188,000 baht($5,100) I think he got a much better deal. Delivery in both cases took about 3 weeks. As far as which bike is the best I think the ADV350 is 3x better than th ADV160, especially if you're over 210lbs. If you're like me (around 185lbs) the ADV350 is a little hard to handle. The ADV160 is just so much lighter and easy to weave in and out of the constant traffic here. So yes, the ADV350 is the better bike but it's 2 negatives are it may be too big for a smaller rider and tougher to weave in and out of traffic. I have another neighbor who swears by the Xmax but to me it looks too much like a boat lol.

Hey Jake great review. When might you recommend the Forza 350 or XMax 300 over the ADV? I’m really trying to compare between the ADV and Forza but do like the XMax too. Just trying to make a buy decision on a 2023. Storage and ride are most important to me.
@JakeSnowLiveSimple
@JakeSnowLiveSimple Жыл бұрын
Thank you. 🙏🏼 Storage is very close to the same size on all three. Ride quality is the #1 thing I love about the ADV 350. That alone puts it well above the other two in Thailand on these rough roads. The XMAX ride is very good but is limited by less rear suspension travel than the ADV. The Forza suspension felt fine to me until I rode an XMAX. The XMAX's better ride quality and handling make it much more fun to ride over the Forza. I have yet to find a 2023 Forza to ride. I'm very curious if Honda made much-needed improvements to the ride. When I'm in the US, I'm very happy with my XMAX riding on much better roads, cooler temperatures, and traveling at faster highway/interstate speeds. The XMAX is sluggish on the bottom when compared to the torquey ADV and Forza but has a higher top speed. I also like the front storage compartments better on the XMAX. Another note; the Forza and XMAX ride is terrible on dirt roads. They feel and sound like they are going to fall apart. The ADV makes any type of road and road condition fun. It's as if Honda built the ADV150/160 and 350 scooters for South East Asia. I would choose an XMAX or Forza over the ADV if I was riding in cooler to cold climates since both of them provide more wind protection than the ADV. The Forza has the best mirror visibility; I like how they are mounted far forward on the body vs. being mounted to the handlebars. The XMAX has the best front storage compartments with one locking. Night riding on back roads is best on the ADV and Forza. XMAX bright beams are worthless. Maybe Yamaha fixed that with the 2023 model. It's tough for me to make a good argument for the XMAX and Forza after riding the ADV 350 here in Thailand. All 3 are very nice scooters. Whichever one you get, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

The XMAX is the best option, then, with its much better wind protection over the ADV350. I ride my XMAX comfortably in cold weather. Also, the ride quality is very good on city streets and highways. I never get butt fatigue on my XMAX. That's my experience riding in the US. You're trading ADV350 all-terrain suspension for XMAX cool/cold weather comfort. The Forza blocks a lot of wind also, but it creates too much negative air space between the rider and the windscreen, creating an extremely annoying vacuum effect sucking clothing and rider forward at highway speeds. The power windscreen, which seems awesome at first, vibrates at highway speeds, which is also annoying. The XMAX also has better ride quality than the Forza, which is especially noticeable on bumpy city streets. The Forza and ADV350 have better acceleration from a dead stop than the XMAX, and the Forza's fixed mirrors mounted on the front fairing provide the best visibility of any scooter I've been on.

In the market for a 2023 Xmax (recently rented one, lovely) but this video makes me reconsider. The ADV 350 looks more rugged with what looks like some more ground clearance and fewer marketing bells and whistles such as a Garmin navi, that requires a special app too or the hip Xmax multicolor fairings , X design led elements and wheels in Yamaha-blue . You don't need any of it and it could look a bit 'over' for a fellow older guy. Like wearing a pair of Nike Air Jordans that are too sick for your age.. The ADV design, capabilities and features seem to strike a sensible balance. It still manages a very modern almost tacticle design (especially in the matte black) with the larger bore and potentially more advanced engine. At the same price-range. And i got the 2017 Honda PCX to trade-in. Perhaps Honda will give me more for it (brand loyalty?). They were eying my modded 2019 B/W CBR650F pretty hard tho at Yamaha but i don't think i want to part with it. I think my path is clear, thanks for the enlightenment OP. Will update soon.

Man, do we need that in India or what. That is such a sweet vehicle. These maxi scooters are fun and practical. But we know Honda wont pull the trigger.

For the adv 450, would you feel comfy in the mountains by Pai to Mae Sai going downhill?

I would feel comfortable taking the ADV 350 on any steep and winding mountain road. Excellent brakes with a torquey engine at low RPM make for a very fun and safe ride.

Not many words was said about the Forza 350 compare to the ADV. Would love to see a direct comparison between the Forza 350 vs the ADV 350.

yeah he said it's better but didn't specify why, the windshield looks bigger and better on the Forza to me

I had a full review video about the Forza 350. I decided it was too negative so I never uploaded it.

The Forza is like riding around in a bath tub. It's the worst scooter I've spent time with in this hot Thailand weather. Too much wind protection (Swamp butt), harsh suspension, dated styling, and vibrating wind screen are the worst things about the Forza. I'd rather ride a Click 160 over the Forza. I didn't talk much about the Forza because my thoughts are mostly negative after 3 weeks riding it. The engine/drivetrain is the best thing about the Forza. Perhaps riding in a cooler climate with better quality roads my experience would have been different.

@@JakeSnowLiveSimple Thanks. I guess the ADV is a better choice in Thailand since I will be driving on various type of roads like dirt, concrete and asphalt.

The ADV 350 and 160 are built perfect for Thailand roads and climate. The 350 especially, is a joy to ride on bad roads.

I just bought a ktm 390 adventure but I live in the states. I absolutely love this presentation on the adv350, which is exactly what I would buy when I move to Thailand. Top notch 👍

I loved this video. I have a question about theft protection. What do you use? U locks, disc lock or chain? Thank you

Thank you. 🙏🏼 I use the built-in steering lock on scooters and motorcycles, nothing else. I've never had a motorbike stolen from me in the 25 years I've been riding. Now that I think about it, I don't personally know anyone that has had a motorbike stolen.
