Hello from İstanbul, I am a proud owner of an ADV 350. Upgraded from a 2014 Tenere 1200 😊. I’m 47 years old, been riding motorcycles over 20 years now. This bike is brilliant. It gives me joy and fun. I’ve never imagined that I could get from a scooter. after I purchased it brand new about a year ago I upgraded the windshield and rear suspension, Oxford heated grips, mirror extensions’ added some auxiliary lights and finally a USB socket under the seat. It is both my daily rider and also good enough touring machine. last summer we had a trip to Athens with my wife, more than 3000 km. Its performance was very good both on the highway and in the city traffic. It has all the storage I need. Just like you did at some point I was planning to get adv 750 but now I know the price difference is not worth it. I rather spend the money for more travels. And finally, thank you for this beautiful content.❤

Hey Mustafa, great to hear from you! Greetings from the UK - I've been to Istanbul and Türkiye many times and just love your country (and food!). I'm very glad to hear you are enjoying the ADV 350 and that it's working out well for you. Your trip to Athens sounds fabulous! Yes, you're right with the X-ADV - at double the price I don't think it gives you much more than the 350 aside from the fact it's a very impressive looking machine with a lot of presence. I don't go much faster than 160kph these days so personally I wouldn't use the extra speed. Spend money on 'experiences' is definitely the way to look at it. Many thanks again for your comments on the videos and a very happy Christmas to you and your family. All the best, cheers, Phil.

I tried the ADV but my legs are ever so slightly too short to flat foot and give me confidence for stopping at junctions with camber/gravel. I did buy the Forza 300 and loved that. I changed to a BMW C400GT 30 months ago and very much love it. It's slightly bigger than the Forza but never feels heavy or bulky. Perfectly light and flickable when compared to my other ride, a 2011 Honda NT700 Deauville. I looked at upgrading from the Forza 300 to the 350 but I changed to the C400GT because at the time BMW were promoting the scooter and offered up to 4 years PCP at 0% interest so was a deal I couldn't turn down. Just came across your channel and very much interested in watching you reports of travels abroad. I had intended to take the Deauville to France and to my sister's house in Germany but I'm seriously contemplating just going on the C400GT. You've opened my eyes to the fact scooters should be considered for longer distance rides.
@80eightReviewsАй бұрын
Morning Paul, good to hear from you and sorry to hear you didn't quite fit the ADV - still, it seems you've ended up in a really good place with the C400GT. What a fabulous looking machine that is! And that's some deal you got!!! Free money! Scooters are absolutely capable of longer distance rides and in terms of actually covering the ground, they are ultimately just as capable as much bigger bikes - unless of course the ride is about sitting on an autobahn at 130mph for hours on end. On mixed roads, where regardless of what I'm riding, I always figure on covering around 60 miles in an hours, the scoot is eminently capable, comfortable and cheap. If you give it a go on the C400, let me know how it goes. Thanks for stopping Paul, have a good weekend, cheers, Phil.

I'm a 'scooter' convert too. Had lots of bike over the years, for the last 2 years I've had an X-ADV 750 and a 1250GS but I never ride the GS as the ADV is so much fun. In fact the GS is going next month so I'll only have the ADV. Brilliant bikes and 'scooters' are the right choice for most people, even if they don't realise that yet 😎
@80eightReviewsАй бұрын
Good evening DervMan, fabulous to hear from you as always...Great choice of words there "right choice for most people, even if they don't realise that yet" Marketing sells us 170HP and 240KG as though that is the prerequisite for any type of riding. Yet these little machines can pretty much do anything, do it well and do it with little drama. And ragging them round bends, is a ton of fun! All the best, cheers, Phil.

Great video. Your videos always make me smile. Hired a Forza 350 in Tenerife this year, looking at possibly swapping my Tiger 800 for an ADV 350. Going to check it out at the bike show at the NEC this week.
@80eightReviewsАй бұрын
Morning Chris, thanks very much for your comments & hope you're doing well. That's quite some possible swap! One thing I would say with the ADV is that for me at least, it was quite a slow burner in terms of getting under my skin but now, I wouldn't be without it. It has a different more serene vibe to a bike but the ease of use means it gets used a lot and also for lots of different types of riding - it has a very wide capability spectrum. Also the economy is fabulous while premium tyres are 50% cheaper than say a bike like your Tiger. I'd recommend the Honda service plan also - £400 for 3 annual services. Anyway, let me know how you get on at the show and if you find out whether it has adjustable rear shocks, I'd be interested to know. Enjoy the show Chris, cheers, Phil.

As always, thank very much for your comments on the video - much appreciated! Good to hear that you managed to try the ADV, you enjoyed it and now have one on order 😀 A bit of me would like a little more power but then that tips you into the bracket of much more expensive and heavier machines so I do think the ADV is a great balance between all the factors and is in no way a compromise. And it certainly is a very effective distance machine. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on the 2025 model when it arrives. All the best, cheers, Phil.

Morning Gary, thanks for stopping by and yes, it was the same for me. In the first few months I was kind 'yeah it's OK' and (stupidly) comparing it to the experience of riding a bike. Hi Phil ,I get easily over 200 miles per tank from my Adv,I use E5 petrol and I overfill slightly,so when the pump clicks off I lift up the nozzle and pump a bit more in but nevertheless I’ve seen 240 miles on the range indicator and a constant 85mpg . But I don’t nail it everywhere 😊 Also the front suspension never “crashes out” that’s suggesting the fork travel is at full compression but in reality it’s just a firm/hard set up,the rear shocks are totally compliant and a softer set up but that’s just my opinion. Either way it’s a brilliant scooter and i absolutely love mine. Safe riding 🙏
@80eightReviewsАй бұрын
Good morning and thanks for stopping by. I'm getting a long term 77MPG out of mine so it would probably stretch to 200 miles but I start getting edgy at 180 😀 I must admit I'm a little heavy handed with mine - in a way that I wouldn't be with a bike! As for the suspension - I'm not very technical so it's probably the wrong way of describing it - as you say it doesn't max out in terms of compression it's how it (doesn't) react very well to high frequency bumps and ripples - it's like the compression damping can't react quick enough. Absolutely not a deal breaker though and as the bike always stays on line that works for me. Likewise - safe riding, all the best, cheers, Phil.

I've had 2023 ADV350, sold it at the beginning of this year and... bought once again just 1 month ago - I just missed its practicality and hope to keep it much longer this time. In terms of swapping, I fully agree with you. Although, I was gazing at Zontes 350E tests, however didn't go for a test ride on purpose, just in case if it would occur very appealing with it's better standard equipment, comparable practicality, bit bigger power and lower price. Perhaps this will be the next one? That's a pity, that vespa doesn't fit full face helmet under its seat, as this could be another one to think about. But beauty won over practicality in this Italian icon, so I also think there's no better choice in range of small 2wheelers than the ADV350. Thanks for sharing your rides and distance to life! All the best and safe riding :)

Hey Mikołaj, many thanks for stopping by and great to get your thoughts on the ADV and scooters in general. You're right that if the Vespa's could be a little more practical and have a little more power, they could be the perfect combination of style and practicality. Morning Jonathan - good to hear from you and many thanks for the biscuit endorsement 😀 As you say the differences between the Forza / ADV are probably not very much at all - the main reason I went for the ADV was that I wasn't doing any 'city' riding or commuting and I kinda liked the look of the bike-style front forks on the ADV. Whether or not they actually make any difference I've no idea!! My ideal scoot would be the ADV with the Forza screen and clocks I reckon 😀 Either way, just right! All the best, cheers, Phil.

Bought a PCX 125 two years ago as a commuter to replace my car and to keep my HD Sportster as a tourer… Since then I’ve seen how much fun even a 125cc scooter could be and how easy they are to use especially in the city… This said, the PCX with its 130kg is the perfect city bike with more than enough power… I tested an old Bergman 650 and a Silverwing 600, which would make great long distance tourer, but horrible city commuter… I think the sweet spot for doing both is in the 350 class and the ADV is one of the best of it - my only criticism would be the lack of weather protection compared to a Forza 350 as an all year daily.

Good morning, thanks for stopping by and good to read your thoughts and experience with the PCX. I have an ADV and a BMW C400GT. The BMW has that bit more power to make motorway cruising nicer and its extra weight makes it more planted BUT the ADV is brilliant too. I love the light weight and extra storage. They both need better rear suspension and a bigger fuel tank but otherwise the deal breaker for me is that the ADV does not have the sheer leg stretching luxury of the BMW and its speedo is laughably optimistic. Still, it was good enough for me to get Gold on my ROSPA three year retest so there you go. Oh, and of course, being a Honda it is utterly reliable.
@80eightReviewsАй бұрын
Hey Glendon, how are you doing? Two scoots - that's keen! I'm jealous! Interesting that the C400 could do with improved suspension also - I would have thought that's where BMW would have splashed a little more money to be honest. Absolutely cracking looking machine though and a little more power is always appreciated.... As for the speedo on the ADV, yes I noticed that when I was whizzing around Europe...Still, a little bit of optimism is possibly a good thing especially on the continent - I've been seriously bitten previously! Anyway, thanks for stopping by, great to hear from you, cheers, Phil.

Nice video. Well done. Have exactly the same and am just over 14000km and 18 months down the road. Share your enthusiasm and satisfaction except for a few very minor shortcomings. Windshield (larger size) is insufficient. I'm 184cms and head and shoulders are completely exposed. Rear suspensions are better than the like of the "Sh" but don't match the "adventure" promise. A handbrake would come in useful every time you have to park on sloping terrain. Not withstanding the use of earplugs and full-face helmet, engine noise is quite present and can be tiring after a few hours' ride. An extra 50cc would be awesome. So, in the end, nothing seriously against a very good value-for-money and reliable choice, but there is space for better fine tuning!
@80eightReviewsАй бұрын
Thanks for stopping by Maurizio and for your comments on the video - glad you enjoyed it. Those are all valid points you make - I'm a little shorter than you and after a lifetime on bikes with no fairings or screens, I find the ADV mostly acceptable from a weather / wind protection perspective - but I'm easily pleased! On the handbrake, absolutely - I now carry and use a cheap lever lock pretty much every time I stop - even on level ground - as you never know if the wind picks up....and ex extra 50cc / 5HP would be very nice. As you day though, there's nothing seriously wrong with the ADV and it is great value for money. I'm sure Honda will keep on tweaking it over next few years. All the best, safe riding, cheers, Phil.

Dear Phil,I have had an ADV for 9 months, I have about 10500 kilometers (6500 miles) on it. The only thing missing is a handbrake. Last summer I went cruising in the German Eifel mountains. Did you put different tires on the ADV?
@80eightReviewsАй бұрын
Hey Frank, how are you doing ? Good to hear from you & your trip sound fabulous! Yes, a handbrake would be good - I bought a cheap level lock which I used all the time and of course, the perfect place to store it is in the little glove compartment! As for tyres - I've fitted Michelin City Grip 2's - which are completely brilliant. They have have quite a lot more feel / compliance than the OEM tyres and seem to be lasting very well. Hope that helps, all the best, cheers, Phil.

I have about 2,000 miles on mine, and I concur ... it's an excellent machine; a real all-rounder (except I wouldn't dream of riding on seriously rough tracks) If Honda want to improve the scooter, they'll trim some weight. Oh, sure, it would be nice to have more power, but I'd much rather have the weight reduction. I DO look at other machines, both scooters and 'conventional', but I always end-up thinking, "You know, the scooter will do that nearly as well." And it does do an awful lot of things very well, so you get a bike with a very comprehensive skill-set. I do still own a conventional bike, but, by God, the twist-n-go is totally superior to a manual gear-box; at least for my laid-back style of riding. What I'd quite like is a conventional-looking mid-range bike ... with CVT. Retain the brakes on the bars, and maybe even the footboards. It would have a concealed under-seat fuel tank, and the 'dummy tank' would provide storage. I do miss having the contact with the fuel tank between my knees. I don't know whether it's technically-feasible for Honda to fit DCT to a medium-capacity bike; but I'd be very happy with CVT.
@80eightReviewsАй бұрын
Good morning and many thanks for your comments and insights. You're so right, the ADV just does so much and does it well, that it's really difficult to think of something else that could replace it. I particularly like the sensation of gliding around, quietly and being able to take in more of the environment - it's a very serene feeling. I do like your idea of a bike with a CVT gearbox though, that could be really interesting! Come on Honda..Or someone! All the best, cheers, Phil.

Lovely autumn summary of the ADV, I parked mine at Thirlmere in the Lakes last week on it’s side stand, as I walked away i heard a crunch 😢 broken left hand hand guard and front left indicator, surprisingly little cosmetic damage, the centre stand seemed to keep most of the bodywork off the road, phew ! Slightly skewed steering from the impact, Oxford parking break for Christmas 👍🏻 can I ask which top box/rack kit you have on yours, I’ll need one for touring next year, just UK. Thanks 🙏
@80eightReviewsАй бұрын
Hey Adrian, good morning and hope all is well with you. Ouch! Still, it's good to know the ADV didn't suffer too much damage - that's always a benefit of wide bars with guards I guess and the centre stand. I wouldn't like to think of the cost to replace the plastic panels 😱 As for the rack it's the Givi SR1166 and E47 Blade Top Box. Fits easy and well! Morning, Phil. Thank you for another warm, amusing, and beautifully presented video. Well, Im off to the Motorcycle Live Show at the N.E.C. tomorrow, where I shall be making a beeline for the Honda stand (amongst other major manufacturers). I've actually booked two days off work - Mon and Tues - as experience has taught me that trying to shoehorn everything into one day at such an enormous event is totally exhausting and, if you want to make an informed choice and ask all the right questions like I do, then you need to take your time, reflect, go back, ask a few more questions, and reflect some more. 🙂 I think you're quite right - from what I've seen on the Honda UK site, it looks as though they have indeed updated the rear shocks. You mentioned that you'll be taking your ADV 350 "....further afield" next year? I'm assuming that you possibly mean beyond the confines of Europe. I know from your previous video that you have travelled to N.Africa and the Arabian peninsula etc.., could that be on the cards? That really would be something special, and would put you right up there with Michael Palin, Phileas Fogg, Ernest Shackleton and, needless to say, the great man himself - T.E.Lawrence. 😊 I'll close for now. Take care of yourself, and ride safely. Warmest regards, Neil.
@80eightReviewsАй бұрын
Afternoon Neil, great to hear from you again and many thanks for your kind comments on the video. Hope you enjoy the show and if you do find out if the 2025 ADV has adjustable shocks I'd be interested to know the detail. Oh and should you find yourself at the Suzuki stand and the new DR-4's are there, please put a deposit down for me 😀 As for 'further afield' - The Middle East is out of bounds for obvious reasons so I think I will remain on the continent of Europe but just take a little longer to go further...I've got a few thoughts but will stare at maps over Christmas and also consult Mrs H to see what's er, 'Acceptable' 😀 As for comparisons - I think I'm more like Judith Chalmers these days except without the frock 😀 Enjoy the show Neil - let me know if anything really tickles your fancy! Cheers, Phil.

HI Phil, interesting video, I traded my '23 Forza 350 for the ADV in July for a big bike feel, arguably big bike road presence and better suspension. I find it colder than the Forza, not sure its as quick as the Forza, but, it is for sure thirstier. Granted the Forza was traded with 7k on the clock and thus far the ADV has 3k but I'm loosing 8-10 mpg. Even at town speed where aerodynamics would be less of a factor. I'm wondering if the tyres could be the difference, did you find a difference after fitting the Michelin's? ADV is getting 75-80 mpg but the Forza was getting 87-92 mpg with the same usage, mostly 60-70 mph.
@80eightReviewsАй бұрын
Afternoon William, good to hear from you and gosh, that's an interesting observation! It's difficult for me to answer as I've only ever had the ADV and with the OEM tyres AND the Michelins I'm continuing to get fuel consumption in the 75-80 MPG range. Like you, I can't believe the difference in the aerodynamics would account for much in terms of the MPG and both engines are identical and while the ADV is quoted as being a few KG heavier, again that's not going to account for much. Is it anything to do with use of the throttle and the ability to be more aggressive with it on the ADV ? If the ADV roadholding is better than the Forza say (I've no idea if it is) then maybe getting on the throttle earlier is a thing? All I know is that I'm so confident in the handling of the ADV that I pin it all the time! As for relative quickness, again I can't compare. Perhaps when you get to a similar mileage on the ADV things may become clearer? If so, I'd be interested to know! All the best, cheers, Phil.
@philipposkrizopoulos6597Ай бұрын
Didn't notice your name is Phil too😀. Maybe we '"desire" something else, but for sure we don't '"need" anything more than a adv350 offers. It can commute, it can travel everywhere, in every " reasonable" terrain and it can maintain highway speeds(110-130km/h on speedometer) with ease. I would add that 2025 model gives you the possibility to order a more cushiony seat. Also you could update yourself with the original smart key based top case. You will add 10+lt of storage from the one you have and the usability of easier opening/closing the lid 😉
@80eightReviewsАй бұрын
Good morning Philippos (I think I prefer your spelling!), yes, very true - the distinction between need and want is worth making. Like you say, the ADV pretty much does everything you might normally need aside from deep mud! It's a fabulous machine. I'll be interested to see how much the 2025 model suspension is improved and whether it is adjustable or not (some confusion here in the UK) while an extra 10L is always welcome! I think once my warranty has run out on my current bike I'll be heading down to the showroom. All the best, have a good day, cheers, Phil.

We've had one just over a year and like it, rather than love it. It has great storage and is a comfortable ride, but hate the screen. The new model has a colour one which for us would make a big difference. That said, we'll change for something different next time, you can only own so many scooters in this life.
@80eightReviewsАй бұрын
Hello, thanks for stopping by - yeah, it's definitely a serious like as opposed to love but gosh, it's useful and effective! I'm OK with the screen as it doesn't detract from riding and I'm not a fan of iPad like displays showing too much info but that's 'cos I'm old probably 😀 As I'm not a 'fan' per-se of scooters in general, I'm going to stick with what I've got as it does the job perfectly for me. Excellent review and video. I've had mine for 2 months now and it's so much better than the Suzuki Burgman I had in many respects. However I do get cold knees and I noticed that the 2025 version has some little "wings" on the fairing each side. If they become available as an aftermarket item I'll be fitting those. I've stuck carbon wrap on the parts I regularly kick as I do the awkward step through. I've also found a tunnel bag that fits like a glove - so much easier to get stuff without stopping and opening up the box or seat. Enjoy your rides - are you planning on riding through the winter? I'd be interested in you views on a rear hugger - mine gets muck all over the rear and the shocks.
@BikerDarren24Ай бұрын
I also would like to know about the addition of a rear hugger and if its something it could be doing with, cheers for mentioning that.
@80eightReviewsАй бұрын
Good morning and many thanks for stopping by. It's great to know you're enjoying your own ADV. And yes, I saw those little perspex wings on the 2025 model - it will be interesting to see what they do in real life - let me know if you get them. I'm used to unfaired bikes so I don't really notice the knees in the breeze but having said that, it is the knees that get wet first when it's raining. I will be riding through winter but not as a matter of 'need' just when I want to - I know what you mean about the rear of the bike though but I don 't know if a hugger (if there is one available) would do much as the rear of the bike is quite enclosed anyway? I don't know to be honest but I don't have any plans to get one. I find I don't get sprayed with much road muck plus the engine seems to stay quite clean which is a bonus. All the best, cheers, Phil.

Hello Phil, great to watch your videos, thanks. I’ve owned an ADV350 for just over a year now, absolutely love it. I also have an ageing 1200GS, which I have ridden over a lot of Europe and Scandinavia with, and since I recently retired I’ve been spending winters in Spain. This year I’m going on my ADV, so watching your trip into Europe was enlightening. Love my old GS, but I’m really excited about going on my scooter, and certainly better when I’m there for playing around in the mountain roads. These scooters/ bikes are a revelation, I’ve used it more than my GS this year…….it’s the future!!! Especially since most of the manufacturers are now starting to make “Auto” gearboxes….. and isn’t a “ quick-shifter” like semi-automatic anyway. Scooters are ahead of the game in my eyes. I do also have a Royal Enfield Classic 500 for back to basics riding 😂. Keep up the good work, ride safe.

Hey Mike, good to hear from you and thanks for your comments on the video - much appreciated! And they are good fun in a gentler kind of way even if the ADV can swoop around bends brilliantly 😀 Good to know you’re excited about your own trip - let me know how you get on. Safe riding on whatever form of two wheels Mike, all the best, cheers, Phil.
