For me the big disadvantages of this (nice looking and specs) bike is that production is in Thailand. Made in Thailand and made in Japan is two different worlds. Cheers

Sorry but dont say shit. I got 2020 cb650r japan made and rest of cb650r are thailand made, and what? Absolutely no differences. All the parts are still thailand made. It doesn't matter where it's made, it matters how good materials used in this are. Every idiot can screw a screws in production line. Still thinking to switch from cb650r to cb500x.. 500x is much more versatile and cheaper in use

@@1Mcoach naah, go and watch how shit made tenere 700 is rusting (japan made), africa twin 2020 had paint peeling off the frame near rear passenger footrest, r1250gs had unpainted frame everywhere, multistrada shit made v4 and v2 have front cowls flying off issues, ktm had all issues x3 in every therm, 890 for example have clutch issues etc etc. For hondas 650cc theres only 1 rusting point like 2 hose clamps for water pump because they are made from recycled material and they are not hiding it (spray some fertan and nothing will come). Every bike is shit nowadays like cars and everything. Beside of that all I can say is to get japanese brand only bikes.

@@1Mcoach I've got 2016 CRF250L from new, made in Thailand, only parts I replaced except for fluids were the ones I broke on rocks offroad, havent even checked valves at 27 000km it runs perfect as always. Other people took CRF250L around the world, you can google that. Popular itchy boots on youtube rode hers around Africa this year. There just is no reported quality problems and that is the reason people chose them. CB500X is made in same factory and is also considered quality made bike. There are some already 8 year old examples on the road and you can check yourself how much issues it has regarding quality.. none.. When they make a 250cc bike and give it a 12 000km service interval and a factory 2 year warranty, that tells something.. same goes for 500s. Also worth noting, Honda Thai factory is 100% Honda factory running same standards. BMW uses engine from China manufacturers, KTM bikes sub 500cc are made in India in a factory thats not KTM but 3rd world bikes factory. So there are huge differances there regarding quality assurance process if the factory is "yours" or you just made a deal with somebody.

I have traction control that you can turn off on my KTM 390 Adventure and love it, got a blue jay in the chest and went off the pavement on to some wet grass, on a tight corner handled it great. Between the traction control and the Dunlop TrailMax Mission tires stayed up wright with very little effort on my part. I was doing just over 80 Km per hour. (50 Miles per hour ) That is the first bike I had traction control on and loving it, also the fact you can turn it off for a more power going up loos dirt steep hills.

No traction control, rider modes and the rest of the gimmicks, full power all the time. That sounds like all positives to me. No stupid apps, keyless shit etc. also positives. Last Saturday I had a test ride on a new cb500x, tenere rally and tracer 900. Honda hands down is the best bike out of those. Tenere wasn’t bad but a big no no for the right hand side of the engine that is sticking out straight into my tibia. Yamaha even put a protector on it. Also handlebar angle wasn’t great and there was much more vibration than on cb500x. Tenere 660 was horrible in that aspect. As much as I like the tenere style and function is not as good overall as that little Honda. And I am not a beginner, I worked as a race motorcycle mechanic and in a bike shop. Rode a lot of them including RD500, Zx10r, ducatis, r1s busas, zzr1400, blades, bmw gs1250, Honda rune, Harleys, gixxers, benellis, katanas etc. You name it. That little Honda is a good bike, so good I am buying one new next month.

Thanks for your review. Couple of friends and I have just finished the NC500 on 125cc units. Mine a XT 125 X Yamaha. What a blast. Seeing the route at a much slower pace and the agility of the smaller bikes have made me think that bigger is not always better. I am considering changing my 850 for a lighter more agile bike. The new CB500X is on my test list. Looking forward to it.

All expenses paid press reviews shot in beautiful locations are such a waste of money to manufactures, does anyone really take them seriously? Similarly the long term loaner reviews are turning from 5 things I love, 5 things I hate into rambling gushing spew. The borrower's ( can't really call them reviewers) unable, more truthfully unwilling to find fault, so that manufactures keep them in the loop. Prospective buyers now have to wade through piles of gush and wait untill an owner reviews his own bike, to find anything like an honest to goodness truthful review. By which time the more gullible have invested their life savings on something which, surprise, shock, horror has serious mechanical, technical or Quality failings. This particular bike suffers from a deathly wobble at the front end at higher speeds, which according to honest owners isn't rectified even after all the new improvements 😕

@michaellilley6725
@michaellilley6725 5 күн бұрын
@@IndigoJo Like I said I think the latest version of the 500X has upgraded suspension which will have eliminated the problem. Your best bet is to watch a longer term review by someone who owns each bike. Neither is a bike I would want to own although I did consider the 500X until I found out about this issue. I still like my bikes to have a bit more power, adjustable suspension and impeccable handling. The point I originally made two years ago was that there was a period when bikes weren't available for test rides and had to be pre ordered in order to get one at all. During this period many people bought bikes on the strength of reviews made by people sponsored by the manufacturer or a dealer. These reviewers almost never discuss anomalies in order to keep in with their sponsors. Those who bought bikes blind so to speak learned the hard way about quirks like vibrations, poor brakes, soft suspension etc, etc. If you can, try the bike you're interested in yourself, only you know your needs and what you expect from the bike, what doesn't suit me might very well suit you.

Great upgrades in 2022; congrats Honda. I have own & love my previous bike, a CB500X, from 2017 to 2020. The biggest con for me was that the first gear was way to short. Does the 2022 CB500X still have a very short first gear? The second con was that it’s only a 471cc engine that rev very high over 100 km/h. I would have love to have a CB600X with a more long first gear. Since 2020, i am a Tiger 900 GT happy owner.

All it needs is a 20 liter gas tank, to give it some real range , Honda was saying 500 Km per tank but if you are only getting 300 Miles that is only 483 km per tank That is 17 km short, the KTM 390 Adventure with a 14,5 liter tank gets me around 420 Km per tank of gas. For some of the touring I want to do need 500 Km + per tank. ( 500 KM + reserve.) so I do not have to carry extra gas. Going to be a hard decision to make the trade for only 63 Km more per tank of gas, plus the fact that it takes 3 more liters to do it. So close but not quite a home run.

If Honda added suspension travel and spoked wheels to this bike Africa Twin sales would be cut in half over night. The Africa Twin is a high margin bike so Honda isn't going to let that happen. With that being said, 440lbs is entirely too heavy for this bike considering the base model AT is 499lbs and it is an 1100cc bike with a heavier frame and suspension. The CB should be at 400lbs.

I doubt it. This doesn’t have enough torque or power for most adventure riders and is only 27kg less than the CRF1100L despite the massive power and capability differences.

Dose seem a bit on the heavy side, my KTM 390 Adventure is only 350 lbs., 90 lbs. more for 100 cc. seams a bit much. The KTM also has many more bells and whistles, for less money. Only thing the KTM is lacking on is the 14.5 liter gas tank but then it still gets 400 + Km per tank of gas. (Best so far I had is 420 and still some gas left in the tank ) Honda wins with many more service spots when you get away from the main centers.

Just sold my 2018 model. Great little bike. Sure you are limited by 47hp so you have to make greater use of its gears and revs, but if fuel costs are a concern then its probably a wise buy. I traded mine in against a Vstrom 650 as pillion comfort and a bit more power was needed ( and who doesnt like a new bike day ) . The bike was used as a bike to ease a pillion into riding, but if I was a commuter on roads up to 60mph then I would certainly have kept it.

Just picked mine up a month ago, got 1800 Km on it and liking it a lot. Very nice road bike, but definitely not for off road, My KTM 390 Adventure was way better off road than the CB500X the CB dose not even come close, Also the KTM was much better off the line and would pick up and get pasted cars much faster on the back roads. On the KTM I keep having stupid little problems with it and took three or four visits to the dealer to get each one straightened out, ( Bent front disk that they blamed on the tires witch still looked like new so put the stock tires back on, problem still there, finally after five visits got the disk changed problem gone; warning light would keep coming on ever 2000 to 3000 km reset it, but keep coming back finally reprogramed it but by that time because of having to go back so many times, traded it in for the CB500X.) Hoping the CB 500X will be problem free I want to ride not sit around the shop waiting for my bike to be fixed. I wanted the green but had to settle for red or weight and hope for a green one. I also love that I can get over 500 km per tank of gas one great selling point for me. Do not think I will ever buy another KTM or BMW will be sticking with Jap Scrap, I want to ride not sit around the shop waiting for my bike, to be fixed.

It's a great bike, comfortable and economical, allrounder. Engine might feel little bit boring because it gives the feel of power being stretched throughout whole RPM band, it feels like you get same power at any time., which for 47bph might feel bland. Also because it tops at 9k rpm acceleration characteristics feel like a car sometimes. Only one thing that was a big minus for me is spark plug change - it's adventure bike yet Honda engineered bike such that in order to replace spark plugs (both) you need to remove whole seat, tank, unplug electronics and few other things. In let's saly SV650 plug job takes max 20 minutes for someone who did this before, where as in CB500X it might take 1 hour+ and can give a headache.
@oldaxehead655
@oldaxehead655 2 жыл бұрын
Every bike I've ever owned required removing the seat, gas tank, disconnecting electronics, etc... So I don't really see that as a minus, that's standard motorcycles from the last 30 years, and spark plugs get changed ever 16,000 miles not every oil change.... hardly something to worry about.
@DonPrecedens
@DonPrecedens 2 жыл бұрын
@@oldaxehead655 Every Bike I owned did not require more than 15 minutes of work to get access to plugs. Although all required removing tank, all of them had some kind of workaround for you to be able to be able to remove plugs without stripping bike of electronics. My point is engineering of CB500X does not go well with adventuring. This bike would be close to perfect if they made accessibility easy. Also, CB500X is supposed to be adventure bike, it would be nice if plugs were easily accessible where you can change them on the road with basic tools if something happens, which with this bike is not the case. For example DL650 1st plug requires removing tank , pushing cables aside and disconnecting fuel hose, second plug requires pushing radiator little bit forward without disconnecting it, you only need folding plug key. Some bikes even have plugs on sides of cases which does not require to disconnect anything.

Yeah definitely. I started on a BMW G310Gs and within a couple months of riding it I wish it was just a little more powerful. The CB500X has about 40-50% more power I believe, which would be perfect; you would just have to be a little careful with the throttle. It's also has a lower seat height which is nice for new riders.

For a new rider I would go with the KTM 390 Adventure, many more features that help a new rider like traction control you can turn off , ABS off road and road mode. I also like the gearing, and once you get some time on it you can ring its neck and get some pretty good power, Keeping the rev down you get fair power, much better for some one learning, but get it rev up it will take off, be a long time before you grow out of this bike, I put some Dunlop TrailMax Mission tires on from new, traded the stock tires, before it left the show room. It will handle 2 up and not loos any thing or you put hard bags on and load them down. I ride on 80 and 90 Km per hour roads and get over 400 Km per tank of gas on a 14.5 liter gas tank. It will cruse all day at 100 - 120 Km but I have not done much of that as the speed limit hear is 90 Km. on the island.

I think it would be a good first bike. Not too much power, but enough. Does everything well onroad from all reports. IMO, a 650-700cc bike is too large for a beginner and they have too much power. A beginner could get into trouble too easily on such a bike. To be very honest though, if somebody has the option, IMO it is much better to learn to ride offroad than onroad. You would learn great bike handling skills that would help you later when street riding. So perhaps a dual sport bike might be the best - allowing you to spend more time offroad at first, then onroad later. But if offroad riding is not an option, and it probably isn't for most people - then this CB would be a great first bike for onroad riding.

a twin, so lacks power low down, a slow armchair on wheels, it doesn't have sun lounger cruiser seating of an American cruiser so won't be offering much comfort after an hour in the saddle. A lot of money for an arm chair, legs will be first to feel discomfort and pain. if you ride typically less than hour and like plodding around sitting up right this will be ok for you

Wind buffeting in this video when he is on helmet cam looks seriously bad, his head is going left-right obvious wind movements, too fast for intentional. I already researched this and its easily fixable for about 90€ with Puig windshield extender. Also some ride this bike a lot on gravel roads/trails and some have damaged the oil sump with rocks being thrown at it from the front wheel, so it also needs at least some cheap metal plate there to spread the impact and soften it, but one that doesn't take up much ground clearance like RR one that makes sense only with rest of their kit which lifts the bike, sump guard alone just makes you hit stuff with it more often, that you would have not hit without it. But generally the best bike for that price, just needs immediate add-on of 90€ for windshield extender to break the buffeting and about 200€ for some cheap closest to engine as possible sump guard, so ends up being about 8000€ bike once you do that and also add on some strong metal handguards that will be first to touch the ground in a case of a fall, but that 8000€ is still good for what is then essentially well sorted, protected and comfortable light duty adv bike.
