The CBR F4i is an older motorcycle worthy of taking a second glance at. Here is a long-term review of a stealthy modern classic.

F4i was my second bike, I rode it for 6 years and put alot of miles down. I then bought a 1000rr in 07. I just recently returned back to an f4i and realized just how wonderful this bike was. In my opinion, this is one of the best bikes ever made.

This is exactly what I did! I went from a Suzuki GS500F to the F4i, and now to a '11 CBR1K. And I'm looking to get back to the F4i now. It's such a comfy bike for tall dudes (I'm 6'5"), and it's got more power than comparable modern 600s, unless you're getting into the supersports.
@professorvoluck93113 жыл бұрын
Not sure how you do it at 6’5”. I’m just 5’9” and on the newer Cbr600’s the short wheelbase and the seat being so close to the bars, I find it hard to tuck. Is the F4i the same way? I haven’t ridden one.

The CBR600 F4i is actually my first bike. here what I have to say. The F4i is cheap, I paid $1,900 for mine, they are also popular amongst stunters, so when you are ready to sell it for a different bike, the market will be there. A 300 CC bike is wonderful, however I know I would out grow it quickly. The good thing about the F4i, it is actually somewhat forgiving. The heap of the power isn't made until the top end of the RPM range. If you take it slow, know your limits and respect the bike, the CBR600 F4i is a great beginner bike. Remember this bike take a level of maturity. If you are a need for speed type of person, wait a couple of years until you grow out if it. (I am speaking from experience) So if you are considering this bike as your first, don't hesitate.

Hey man I know I'm late but this summer I'm planning on purchasing my first bike. I have plenty of dirt bike experience under my belt so I feel as long as I can keep in mind the capabilities of the bike and refrain from being stupid on it, i feel like i could learn to ride on an F4i. I have been seeing them on craigslist and facebook for some good deals. Very excited.

I've had this bike for 10 years and, even though other bikes have come and gone, this one has stayed with me. I love this bike. Fast, comfortable, and linear power band. Fast enough that I still haven't felt like I've outgrown it, but forgiving enough that this is the bike my wife learned on. Now we both ride it and love it. Good review.

Am quite late to the party, but isn't this bike, really front heavy? I had a 02...for a few months, as an early second bike, I just couldn't get comfortable with it... Few months later, got a cbr 600rr and the front felt much lighter ....

i have my F4i sport bike and i love it, maybe i see in my opinion that it's more better than the 600rr one the F4i is more stable and better handling at the corners, the 600rr better for it's acceleration and hoursepower but the F4i is more Chilly bike, that will always be my comfort one. *** i think for any beginners to use the F4i as there first bike but at the same time must be careful, responsible and know ur limit.. this bike got a huge power and can be great one if you can handle it and get use to it. i love mine the red&black F4i

This was my first sport bike. Im 57 and rode since about 10 years old. I wanted a VFR750 800 but did not find a decent used one . I took it to the Track already took a lesson and laid it down on the 6th lap. Still don't know why it lowsided. I felt perfectly relaxed thru the 180 hairpin. I probably overolled the throttle. But could have been a dozen other reasons. Had bikes all around me in the turn another went down to my high side.....So, I have put 3500 miles in 7 weeks on this 06 that cost $3800 with only 11k on it. Looked new. It was well cared for. So I can go about 2.5 hours before hips cramp up. Im 6' 2" 190lbs so it just barley fits me. Great bike I think it would be to much for a first time rider. Unless you are very respectful of 105hp and the shitstorm u can get into on this or any bike . I been to 167mph, in thin air of Colorado.. STUPID, on mine with a little throttle left. But, had to see if I had a breaking point for fear. I don't. So, that could get me into trouble . Glad I got full leathers and armour. I am sure I will be down again as long as I keep trying to go faster on the track.. Planning on doing more track days and race style riding. Would like to ride an RR to see how much less comfortable the RR CBR is.

Pulls strong, decent amount of torque for sure. My speedometer reads 15 mph off though. Idk why? Maybe sprockets had been swapped? One day I swear it read 165 170 but it’s just impossible to look at your speed on the F3. Dash lights aren’t that strong and the numbers are to small imo. Still a great bike

@@davidfrom94 depends on which 300 or 250. A ninja 250 would be faster than a cbr 250 past a certain speed, but the cbr is EFI whereas the ninja has carbs. Ninja 300 is EFI as is CBR, but the CBR is still a single cylinder with less than 300cc. I would personally say the cbr has better build quality but it's slower than the ninja, the R3(The fastest 300 cc I think), and similar.

This was my first bike, picked up a 2006 F4i from a buddy I worked with for 2800. I honestly believe this is the perfect starter bike. It really is fast as fuck but still some what forgiving. The statement "bullet proof" is very accurate. I abused the absolute heck out of her the first year and have stored her outside mutliple winters, every single spring she starts right up with zero issues. It really is incredible. One thing to note is that there is no gear indicator other than neutral and no fuel level indicator until you hit reseve limits. Its a no nonsense tough sport bike that will really force you to learn every feeling along the way. Which I feel is a great way to learn.

Yep cant get over too far over without dragging pegs and boots but it is respectable medium track ride. Great it Canyons, comfortable for hours. I need to upgrade to braided brake lines, got the shorrty levers and damper on.... stock exhaust is bulky , banna seat is great...at 6 2 I can stretch a little on long straight tuck. I really think its a good inexpensive ride ...mine is 06 Yellow can se me coming a long way off. Video is right on. My top end exceeds 165 mph easy but only once on the open interstate I routinely hit 135 thru my tracks longest straight coming through turn 11 to turn 1 at about 65 mph. So 65 to 135 in about 6 seconds set up for a long right at about 80mph it is plenty for an old guy but need more lean. Second bike coming this spring.

Where did you go? This is a great review. Other considerations of an f4i is how heavy are you factory they are sprung for a rider about 150lbs. Swap out the springs in the forks and while you’re there go for the race tech gold valves. The rear spring is obsolete but race tech does sell a conversion spring plate to get you into customizable springs. This video is spot on about the cam chain tensioner but keep a sniff of your oil. If your oil is smelling like gas and the exhaust is rich your fuel pressure regulator has died. I have gone through two. Other than that this bike and engine is second to none. The engine was so good that when the 600rr came out they used the same engine. If deep into triple digits isn’t your thing and you don’t care about a little buzz on the highway I highly recommend dropping one tooth on the front sprocket ⚙️ if you do you will need a speedo healer to recalibrate the speedometer but power wheelies will come effortlessly in first and slight clutch will lift and carry the front wheel in second. I have really shocked a few newer sport bikes that think they are going to walk on the old cbr. Eventually they will after 120mph but they are going to have to work at it.

Just gotta say thank you for the well made video and info on this bike, it helped me decide to get the F4i as my first sport bike. Found a 2004 with low miles. This is going to be an experience since most of my time on 2 wheels has been in the dirt.

@@TheMotoRidin MT 09 is very lively, in a good way, but throttle is a bit on off at low revs. When you go back and ride a cbr it will feel so smooth and easy. I kept my cbr as well as they don’t fetch a huge amount for the great bike they are.

Don't understand why Honda stopped producing this model.
@Titaniumparts5 жыл бұрын
Rhetorical question or do you really want to know the answer to this? Basically because customers stopped buying them. As the 2000s progressed the 600 class became more extreme, led by headbangers like the Yamaha R6 and Suzuki GSXR600, with their seductive race styling and track-focused pedigree. By mid-2000s CBR600F sales had tanked. Then the market changed, mid-size, razor-sharp race reps went out of fashion. At which point Honda reintroduced the CBR600F - although to many purists it wasn't a real CBR but simply a Hornet with some, admittedly attractive, bodywork. Now that has evolved into the CBR650F, which has changed a lot from the Hornet-based model. Reviews say a lot of good things about the 650F. Incidentally, I own a 2004 CBR600F and I love it.

They still make it but as 650. It's basically the same with a different name and compliant with new regulations.

That looked a lot like HWY 1 between SF and Tomales.
