Brings back happy memories from the 80's. I went from a Vespa P200E to the CBX1000 with a Marshall 6in1 pipe on it. Beautiful bike to ride except when I had to bump start it when the battery went flat!

I enjoyed the video. As someone who has owned CBX's since 1982, I agree that they are strong bikes. Servicing is time consuming and parts are costly, but they are beautiful. I restore and modify them for a living and agree with Paul, that you are best to buy a well cared for or well restored bike, as they are a money pit, if you are doing up a shitter. A good set up and maintained bike is a joy and is strong and reliable. I don't agree with Paul that they will ever get to six figures.

I picked up a low mileage 79 years ago. All those possible problems with the CBX almost makes me want to drain all the fluids out of mine, and put her in the corner of my living room. Then I could sit back in my chair with a cold one, and just admire the beautiful design of her awesome lines. I do that every time I walk by her now anyway !

The racer was designed in the 60's. Unlike the CBX, it didn't have chain drive to the camshafts, as you stated, but a train of straight cut gears. A little bit of research would have been appreciated. I loved my CBX!

I just started a full restoration on a 1985 vmax. This will be a labor of love. The motor is low miles and turns as smoothly as a new motor. The tank is trash, but have got big upgrades in the works. This beast still has the original tool kit.

Your enthusiasm is wonderful, your facts...not so much. It may have been inspired by the 250cc 6 cylinder racers of the 1960's, but it is a completely different design. Very few older motorcycles of any brand have had blissful lives - lets face it, at some point they were all out of fashion and often owned by uncaring and money poor riders who may have taken maintenance short cuts.

Couldn’t quite run to a CBX back in 1979, I had to settle for the new twin cam Honda 750 which was launched about the same time as the CBX. Never stopped loving the CBX what a bike, but I’ve heard whispers Honda have filed a patent for a new six cylinder bike we will see, great insight into the bike 👍

Had one in the early 80's. Oil changes every 1000 miles, no way! Oil overheating is the big problem with CBX's and that can happen after 10 miles! The toy oil cooler Honda put on the bikes is just a cosmetic add on, change to a ten row and change oil every 2500 miles. People think they only last 20k miles because they are all 40 years old and been clocked to the magic

I was wondering if there was a '78 model. That was the first year it was tested in the cycle magazines, but I only hear of, or see '79 models. The '78 has got the be the rarest model. Is your's red? As far as I know those two year models were identical. Starting in '80 the HP dropped, and '81 was the first year of the sport/touring model, which I think ruined the bike...

Gorgeous machines, a mate of mine had a black one back in the eighties. He was going down a mountain road in North Wales in the rain with me on the back one night and the back broke away just as you described. How he managed to save it before we went over the edge I'll never know. What I do know is that bike probably has a large brown stain on the pillion seat to this day...

How I never saw this video before is odd. I've been through a lot of older bikes, mostly Honda from the 80's. I've ended up now having a 79 CBX and an 83 1100F Super Sport. The CBX IS a pain to work on for sure. But, it's all about that big engine. Mine has a 6 into 1 DG pipe and the sound is, well, go look at other videos. In truth the 1100F is much better to ride and easier to maintain overall. I'd like to add a KZ1300, GS1150, 84 1000 Interceptor, 900 Eliminator, FJ1200.... you get the idea. But they've become so expensive for even fair condition bikes I'll probably never get any of them.

I met this guy years back selling what he called Pet Rocks. A very sincere gentleman who swore his product was a must have and that it was worth every penny he claimed it was worth...........OH! Nice to see you again. Those bikes were and still are, pure junk. Poorly engineered, tempermental, substandard in quality and very poor performers in the rideability category. The only thing they have going for them is their nostalgic appeal which is false flag as well and is just something you are attempting to create to boost the price. Six figures for a Pet Rock??? All I can say to that, is that a fool and his money are soon parted by the Pet Rock salesman. On Yer Bike!

Hasa Kavi E39M5 I agree with comment, the 1970’s Australian cars are worth big money now and I’m not just talking about the muscle cars - even the four and six cylinder cars are pulling mega bucks. Still remember the 1980’ s ford falcon - for a while it was not popular - now a good v8 example will cost you a house deposit. A 1971 Falcon GTHO P3 in exceptional condition $1 million +. Will these 6 cylinder bikes hit 6 figures - may be but they are coming very desirable.
