Watch me fumble my way through the replacement of a clutch master cylinder on this 2008 Honda Civic Sedan. This will be the same from years 2006 all the way to 2015.

This made changing my CMC soooo much easier. Thank you. Mine came with 2 roll pins instead a new U shaped pin

The one I was looking at on rockauto had the roll pins as well. Was it easy to get them in? How has the part held up?

this is one of the BEST repair vids I've ever come to. I too was thinking chase those clip holes out. Many thanks, excellent camera work too!

Thank you so much!!!!! I didn't need to take out the brake part, or battery, I struggled a lot but I eventually managed to get the part in and out and avoided removing extra parts but I wouldn't have done this without this video.

The "tray" is called a cowl tub. Great video!

I've done this job 3 times now and never removed half the stuff you removed in this video lol. My advice would be Dont bother removing that tray and all the stuff underneath it, and also go ahead and delete the air box and install a CAI. Makes access way easier for the future and you're already removing the box anyways. Also have a new pin ready for the master cylinder. It's always broke. If you don't have a vacuum bleeder, bleed the system before installing. Much easier that way

Make a video and show how you do the replacement. I'd love to see.

Aw man Im struggling with that snap pin as well !! That thing is a pain in the ass, ima have to drill the hole a little bigger that’s a good idea. Should’ve got the oem instead

Somehow I noticed that your brake pedal is slightly near to the gas pedal. Did you adjust it?

I think my cmc has failed on my 07 si. Gonna attempt this job asap. When you use the vacuum bleeder.. are you just opening the bleeder on the slave cylinder and turning on the vacuum?? Or do you need to push the pedal when you're doing this???

Also how has this held up ? No issues with the after market besides clip fitment?

I replace the CMC on my 9gen civic and I still can’t go into any gear… why? Yes the fluid is clean and yes the clutch pedal acts how it supposed to act but there’s no pressure

Sounds like the clutch may be damaged. Often when the clutch springs become dislodged, it does not disengage fully. I would suspect you need a new clutch.

how do you bleed the clutch after replacing since there’s no pressure in the clutch?

Vacuum bleeder is almost the only way. I have had luck pushing fluid back to the master by pushing in the slave too.

I tried the second way and blew out my brand new slave cylinder. Just buy a $15 bleeder kit lol

I opened the slave bleeder and ran fluid through the system till it reached the slave and thought this meant the system was full, but my clutch doesnt work it only makes weak pressure and thats why im watching how to replace the master but the master not holding air would explain my symptoms perfectly so thanks for these comments im gonna vac the fluid back through from the resevoir and hope i pull out some air and not have to do this ridiculous cmc replacement.
