I changed my alternator two weeks ago, had the car running for about an hour and the car just shut off. I grabbed my scan tool and it said eld high voltage. I ordered it and put it in yesterday. Apparently it was never plugged in since the car was manufactured. I found it weird. I only got the car 8 months ago and now fixing what needs to be fixed piece by piece

What if the camshaft position sensor is replaced and then 3 hours later check engine light comes on.. now I have the same codes to replace the camshaft sensor and cylinders 2 and 4 are misfiring now.
@hardlymovingpro4 жыл бұрын
Ok ... Sounds like you are dealing with multiple faults. I'd continue by replacing all the plugs with either NGK or Denso Iridium plugs. Then swap out coil coil packs 2 and 4 with 1 and 3. Reset the codes and run the car. If 1 and 3 get error codes, then those coil packs need to be replaced. Recently had a similar problem with a BMW. Replacing all the Bosche plugs with Denso Iridiums fixed his problems.

Curious do have any info on the voltage at the plug where it connects to the sensor? I been having some sort of shortage at (assuming) at high temps. Because I check everything. And wind up waiting until engine cools then there is no problem for a while. Been very difficult to check for continuity after a p1361 then car breaker down. I feel like by the time I check the shortage fuse back somewhere.

Does the brand of the new sensor matter. Im doing this same job and my new tdc/camshaft sensor wont work. My buddy says its because its a duralast sensor and not AC Delco. Any thoughts?

Possible that a no name brand replacement part can be defective from the get-go. Haven't had good luck with AutoZone parts.

Hello Hardly Moving, I learn something new today from watching your video. Never know the ELD existed in a Civic and looks a ton of work just to get to it. Questions: Do Honda cars need to adjust valves after about 90 or 100K miles? I had an issue with my 2000 CR-V with 80K miles that stalled on me when the engine cold in the morning, my mechanic fix the issue after he adjusted the valves, now the CR-V runs well. And how about the timing belt and water pump kits if your Civic is due with 90 to 100K miles. Aisin TKH-003 timing belt and water pump kits cost $120 big one at Amazon, and it's a bargain if I know how to do it. And I think the '02 has an interference engine, hopes that help!!! Please keep more videos rolling, THANKS!!!

Japanese engines rarely require an adjustment of valves if you change the oil on the recommended service intervals. You can hear a lot of tapping noise when adjustment is needed. Haven't done an adjustment in a long time. Unusual for a car with only 80k miles. Here's a link to a recent video I published on how to do a timing belt/water pump replacement on the Civic: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6OxpKpuaLial68

I've got that p1362 code but my motor is the DOHC I believe that sensor is part of the distributor. Should I just replace the whole thing?
@hardlymovingpro3 жыл бұрын
It's you camshaft position sensor. Should be somewhere next to one of your camshaft sprockets.

Hello! My car is showing the p1361 & p1362 codes. Every time I'm driving and make a speed change the car produces a sound while the RPMs increase to make the change, after making the change the sound disappears, usually happens more when I'm at a traffic light and I'm going to start. Do you think it’s because those two codes? I drive a Honda Civic EX 2002
@hardlymovingpro4 жыл бұрын
Hard to say. Take it one step at a time by fixing the cause of each code. Driving while ignoring the codes addresses nothing.

Thanks for sharing this. My A/C died and I keep getting a check engine light P1361 when I I drive in traffic on a warm 70°F day. I experience loss of power and sometimes rough idle. I’ll let it cool and the issue goes away. I thought the issue was fixed when I had the compressor replaced (which failed again within a few weeks) but haven’t had a chance to bring it back in. Today while smogging my car, the CEL came on while car was idling for 10 minutes. Loss of power. I let it cool for an hour and I got power to drive 20 miles home. The CEL stayed on. I was able to reset it. Would this still be a TCD sensor? Again, it seems to be triggered by stop and go traffic. No overheating and the fans kick in. Ironically when I had the A/C replaced along with transmission, the battery died. It was only about 3 years old.

Sometimes electrical sensors fail sporadically which can be deceiving. I would recommend you replace the TDC sensor. Had a similar problem in another car where the oil pressure sensor would trigger the low pressure lamp only after engine warmed up but shut off in higher rpm's. Problem solved after replacing the sensor.
