Always the "nag" about the split window..... I drive it since 2007 and it has never bothered me. It also helps blending the traffic with head lights behind you. The standard rear camera helps but good and proper reversing is done using the side mirrors.

Yeah, I heard so much about this, it’s not a problem, it keeps the top part of the screen really clean, it stops glare at night from cars behind at night. Excellent review of brilliant little car, we have ours since 2012, has been a great drive and stands out in a sea of blandness especially on the Honda 18" alloys. The view out the back takes a little getting used too but the camera and good size mirrors help. Although the 1.8 petrol isnt going blow you away, the handling does, love the steering, firm ride and excellent grip on the bends. As the golf is mentioned in other comments, i must say the vw is a really good drive and yes i do like the interior quality, however, i personally find the golf a little bland in comparison to the Civic not to mention Honda's enviable reliability.

Nice review from Ms. Buckley. These are great cars, I have one and they are so much nicer than the equivalent Golf, Focus (and especially) Astra. The interior is great, don't listen too much to reviews as the rear view is ok, the spoiler actually shields a lot of headlight glare at night and the handling and ride are really good. The diesel engine is smooth, refined and averages well over 60 mpg (calculated, not trip computer). Honda always has been a left field choice for those of us that like to be slightly different.

How did you liked the car mate? Thinking about getting one
@alinutzalin63463 жыл бұрын
@@KisKano5 I tested a 2014 version. (I'm comparing it to my Honda Accord 2.0 petrol.) I thought that there wasn't much of wind noise when going up to speed. The acceleration was good for a 1.6 diesel and the gear box is nice and also simple to put it in reverse compared to others where you either need to pull a ring or push down the stick. The seats however, dunno how would they fare on a long trip, I only sat on it for 10 min and didn't seem like they would be that comfortable. It had automatic wipers and lights I think but I turned them off since I hate them personally. The stereo was alright, not too bad but you cannot call it premium. The back seats are a bit high and small I would say but that's a drawback of the magic seats I believe. The space in the boot was good with a decent opening mouth and obviously when seats are down flat, you got quite enormous space. The clutch felt really easy to press which impressed me. Also, the doors close just so nice, I have only seen such thing on Honda, I have driven in: (Audi, Volkswagen), Ford, Nissan, Hyundai, , Clio, Mini, Mazda, Peugeot and forgot if I did on anything else. The breaks however, need some work, maybe a bleed would've helped the one I tried, it was only topped when I saw the service invoices. Gas pedal is just what it is, it ain't a sport's car so nothing much happening, you just wait for the higher revs so that the boost kicks in. But overall quality materials, not even talking about gear change feel and transmission, Honda's are best in my experience, not opinion. Vw have quite nice Seats tho. Now, I really love the short shifter I've installed on my Honda Accord so I just cannot find anything better, I don't like long throw, non-tactile, hot butter feel like gear boxes, not even mentioning those Cable Actuated ones. I still don't like diesel's how they feel compared to a petrol, but I can only mention that this engine noise was non-existent when inside. And their economy is tops with 0 tax, what to hate on that?

I agree with the leg room though, no room for my knees, I'm short so clutch pedal reach and visibility require high seat and closeness to the windscreen. gusbandicoot I take it as meaning that if it can easily reach over 120 when pushed, then at 70 it will be quite relaxed. It's not a very relevant point to make since most modern cars in this class are just as capable, but if you think back to older or smaller cars that top out well under 100, such cars would be quite thrashy or uncomfortable at motorway speeds. On the other end of the scale a 150 mph+ performance car can cruise at 70 with hardly any effort from the engine.

blackcdnguy American cars are cheaper than European cars. And the reason for this is because of less taxation on cars. So it stands to reason that Americans can afford a more expensive car than Europeans in general. For example buying the cheapest truck in Europe would come in at about near to 40K and that would be with a 2 or three liter engine. In America a 5 liter truck could be purchased for cheaper. Trust me if you could afford a large car then you are more than likely to buy it.

@@itsallrobbish I actually bought a petrol 8th gen a few months ago and I'm loving it. The biggest negative with this generation ( probably mostly solved in the next gen ) is the harsh suspension. I truly believe it's the biggest flaw that could drive people away from this model.
@TRASHoftheTITANS3 жыл бұрын
No review of this generation of Civic I've seen has cited the rear seats as a disadvantage - I think that's the biggest letdown of the car. My mother has a 2012 Civic, and whilst it's a great car in every other way, I cannot get on with the rear seats at all. They're very firm, the bases are far too low, and you can't slide your feet under the front seats, so you always end up sitting with your knees in your face. I'm not particularly tall either, so it must be worse if you're 6ft +. It's not an issue of legroom, as it's a long car, but the way they've designed it means it's one of the least comfortable cars I've been in to sit in the back. I'd honestly rather sit in the back of my 3-door Clio on a journey than go any distance in the rear of the Civic. It's such a shame, as I think it's a truly excellent car all round. But what's the point in a family car that can't carry people in comfort?

Get a golf diesel and if you take care of it there will hardly be any problem. Japanese cars may be more reliable in general, but material is cheaper, paint is thinner and so they will rust earlier and lose more in value. And when you need a part from japan it may take some time and you have to pay more for shipping. However companys from japan are more customer friendly for sure. Both countries produce great cars, it's all about priority.

The Civic has a pretty awesome design, what I love especially about the 8th and 9th gen. hatchbacks is their slowly rising, extremely flat windscreen. If you take a look at a Golf you'll notice their windscreens are much more steep. The Civic's windscreen on the other hand is very sportscar-like, adding to that are it's very flat A-pillars. The two-tier instrument panel is almost as good as a real HUD like you get in a BMW 5 series, because the most important information is just millimeters below your view onto the road. However, Honda is missing some of the most important gadgets that customers today crave for, the most important being smaller, torquey Turbo-petrol engines and a DSG. This is why this Civic won't be successful.

Darren Loke Boy racers would do well to buy the upcoming Civic Type R - we're driving it this week! www.carbuyer.co.uk/news/138966/2015-honda-civic-type-r-price-specs-and-release-date

Can't wait Carbuyer. That is a more fitting car with this design in my opinion.

I don't think a boy racer could afford one of these, perhaps in 10 years or so, it will get the "boy racer" image when it's a cheap used car. Also, the interior is too nice for a boy racer IMO.

Back end is horrible, looks like they forgot about the brake lights since they stand out like a banana in KFC.

This new model is really ugly. I'd pick a Toyota Auris over this Honda any day of the week. :-)

It’s a competitor, it has to be mentioned for potential buyers.

This car looks ok but my only issue is that the steering wheel is on the wrong side, I'll stick with dodge because they build theirs on the left side Kappa Kappa

Kappa = I say something that is obviously untrue or fake but is funny because there is an ironic Kappa sign at the end

No. Quieter than a similar Golf I recently drove and much quieter than an Astra.

I wish they sold a hatchback version here in the States but I'm sorry that one is plain ugly! I actually bought the Focus Hatchback and its trunk space is small but I like it

The Golf is in a different level compared to this crap haha
@itsallrobbish3 жыл бұрын
😝....Each to their own, ride on the Golf may have the edge, handling, depends on what you like, but pretty much any other parameter, the Civic is superior.
@DimoBoychev3 жыл бұрын
@@itsallrobbish well i briefly had a 2016 civic for a few weeks as my brother worked in a dealership, and you just can't compare it to a mk7. everything about it felt way cheaper and nowhere near as refined. I'm a huge honda fan, but the golf is simply in a different league.

i find it funny how she says Volkswagen, anyway, not deliberating being negative but that is a truely nasty car, really awful styling and i dont know why new dumb European regulations are making car arses stick up higher and higher into the air, whats wrong with a massive, bad quality plastic dashboard delete option? there is so much junk styling in most modern car i wont bother with an of them. I'll have a late 60's or early 70's Cadillac or Buick convertible, but thats just my opinion, and its will be much less expensive to buy (nbot in fuel though lol)

NETnews so you like Fiat Multipla better ?
@Tambo749 жыл бұрын
NETnews That's a bit harsh, to be fair it's a smart modern looking car that is an acquired taste.. Definitely not the ugliest car though.. I'd rather this over a Dacia Duster any day
@net_news9 жыл бұрын
***** haha you have a point!! The Multipla is the ugliest vehicle ever created by man hands down (calling it a "car" is being too optimistic) ... and here in Italy the Multipla was a relative success so I'm condemned to see that atrocity every day of my life!! :( BTW the problem with the Civic is that it used to be a beautiful desirable car, they totally ruined it some years ago... it's a shame cause it's a good car, no doubt about it.
@net_news9 жыл бұрын
Tambo74 but Dacia Duster is shitty car who cares about it? Civic is a legend, in the past the Civic was a beautiful aggressive car... now It's so horrible that you cannot believe it's the same car. I don't know what kind of drug Honda designers smoke but what they've done with the Civic is a crime. Plain and simple.
@Tambo749 жыл бұрын
NETnews By the looks of it, they have went all "Eco Friendly" on the car and i feel that has had an impact on the styling.. however i agree with you that this is a classic badge and the Honda design team should be taken out and shot in front of their families
