I have CRV mk3 CDTI. When it goes into limp mode (usually after over revving) I tip a bottle of Kataclean (Halfords) into the tank. I then switch engine on and off three times at 30 second intervals. That gets it out of limp mode. To get rid of the engine management light, connect a diagnostics reader and erase the errors. Job done.

Maybe honda set the benchmark for a restriction lower than other manufacturers as a way of protecting the car. As we know some people would still carry on driving it like that. Hence no fault codes

Had the exact same problem with my Honda Accord 2011 model. Had to clean and force regen twice in 2 months with no other faults. Am going to replace engine oil after a flush to see if a better “low ash” engine oil will do the trick.

Hiya Jimmy, have ya ever had one of these that it'll start a regen with the computer plugged in but after around 3 or 4 minutes it cuts out, exhaust temperature was about 430c, I'm assuming it's not getting hot enough within the time limit. Not in limo mode just the regen required light on and as u say no fault codes

I’ve currently got this issue on my 2010 Honda CR-V I-DTEC EX. I’ve been told by a dpf cleaning place that I have a fuel injector stuck open which has flooded my engine oil with diesel and has knackered my dpf so it will need a full replacement and I will need to get the fuel injector replaced aswel. All in from a second garage I have been quoted 1500. I am taking it there next week for an initial diagnostic as I want a second opinion. Due to the cost I am debating doing the work myself and purchasing a reconditioned fuel injector and a used OEM dpf, but I cannot find any videos showing exactly where the dpf is located and how to replace the injector and do a leak off test. Could you or anyone reading this give me some advice / links to videos? Anything would be appreciated thanks in advance

The dpf is under the heat shield at the front of the engine next to the turbo. It is an all in one cat and dpf . I had mine deleted along with the egr

Have done about 5 forced regens on my 2010 honda crv ex, and put about 1.5 litres in total of the same liquid through the system. Could see the liquid made a difference, bit cant figure hiw to get rid of the the error picture (with the !). Any suggestions please?

Cleaning dpf or REGEN is a short turm solution and it’s costly best thing is just delete it from ecu and then empty the dpf problem solved for ever 👍

I cleaned the particulate filter but the error did not disappear. Through the computer I can not start the regeneration. PLEASE TELL WHAT PROGRAM DO YOU USE?

Have you found an issue, Gerodot? I’ve got the same error yesterday, will try to run regeneration from launch program, hope it helps. But I think, this after pumping a bad fuel, it was few weeks ago. I hope it won’t be an injectors. BTW thanks for the video @author.

@@TarasIukhymenko-grt ,mechanically cleaned the filter and then forced a regeneration. mileage was 170,000, the filter was cleaned for half a day, it was very dirty

I have a 2011 Honda CRV DTI EX. It has done 153k. I am sick and tired of getting problems with the dpf warning light & limp mode. It’s been regenerated at the garage about 5 times now, first couple were about a year apart. Now I’ve had 2 in a few months and now it’s come on again. Have been driving a lot on motorway last few weeks, so it’s had a lot of good runs. Am so confused & I read that it cost £1k to replace. How can you have a part that costs that much money? Other than this my Honda is brilliant 😢

Hi - Thanks for a very informative video! I'm having similar DPF issues and had it cleaned multiple times, but it still won't do the regen after about 700miles, so straight back into limp mode. A new DPF is about €4000 for my 2010 VRV IDtec, and both the DPF cleaning place and Honda garage (who cleaned with fluid) thought the DPF looks good.. so I'm thinking it's something else. Did you need to do a regen afterwards or clear any errors or did the error clear by themselves?

Is oil level too high? Change the oil and reset dpf and oil service reset

Hi, great stuff. This happened to my son's as he didn't do enough 'motorway' type miles (all around town). Do you think the quality fuels like Shell V-Power (with those extra detergents) would help prevent such problems?
