Another great video. I am actually looking at a D16Y8 motor for my EF sedan which has 1.4 Dual Carb and i dont know why in the world i thought it would be a straight forward plug and play but now i know.

Watch the video, I talk about ecu in there.

Do you sale the light or plan to make more

What light? The only light used in this video is my Makita work light. You can buy that wherever they sell Makita tools.

What if you just keep the mpfi manifold and put it on the y8 engine
@BudgetGears11 ай бұрын
Yes, you can do that. Not sure why you would want to though. The Y8 manifold is supposed to be the best stock manifold for a d series.

@@BudgetGears idk I have an mpfi swap installed already, figured it’d save me time re wiring plugs
@BudgetGears11 ай бұрын
@@michael48990 You wouldn't have to re-wire anything. Everything plugs right into the manual Y8 manifold. You can just use the injectors from your mpfi and resistor box (if you're still running one) and you're done.

if i already have a d16y7 wiring harness could i use that because i have a base model crx which is dpfi and i want to skip as much wiring as possible
@BudgetGears3 ай бұрын
No, as I emphasized in the video, use your original engine wiring harness and modify for changes. Using a d16y7 engine harness is going to be a nightmare of wiring. The easiest way is orignal engine harness. Or you can buy a tucked wire harness with the correct subharness.

@@BudgetGearsalright, what about the transmission because thats one of the reasons im doing the engine swap, its a 5speed crx and im putting a 97 lx transmission in it (aswell 5speed)
@kalebkroeger30972 ай бұрын
@@BudgetGearsanother thing is the engine is a d16y7 bottom end and i have a d16y8 head i’m putting on it what are some suggestions youd have
@BudgetGears2 ай бұрын
@@kalebkroeger3097 I'd recommend reusing your original cable tranmission if you can. Much easier to just reuse that. You can use the 97 lx transmission, but you'll need the hydro mount and t bracket and a hydro to cable kit. Much more costly to run and the lx transmission is not a desirable transmission. Unless you prefer a longer gear transmission. Most would want a short gear transmission from the Y8.
@BudgetGears2 ай бұрын
@@kalebkroeger3097 No suggestions here. It should run pretty much the same as a stock Y8. Personally, I'd prefer to run a complete Y8 instead of a mini-me d series because you can usually pick up a complete Y8 for cheap.

If you live in Ca dont waste your time. Stick with D16Z6 OBD1. Much easier and just as good.
@BudgetGears27 күн бұрын
I totally agree. If you can get your hands on a good D16Z6, that's a much more preferable engine. A p28 ecu just plugs right in and doesn't require tuning. It's also a stronger engine than the D16Y8.
