2005 Element with replacement motor bought from my 78 year old neighbor for under 2K, having the same issue. Thank you for sharing, going to do the same. My vtec solenoid looks like its new, but I am going to check the connections and also clean the screen on the solenoid and the one behind the power steering pump. Like your channel, it has helped me more than once.

Honda element is the Biggest pos I have owned , fresh synthetic oil 5w20, all filters new , clean engine, replace the connector 3 times , wires checked, ground checked, checked the oil sensor itself, it has been replaced like 10 times in 4 months and nothing appears to fix the stupid problem, it is a 2003 , EX , only 145k , I’m the second owner and to add insult to the infamy also have the code indicating the knock sensor bad 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Did you check the ground thats under the battery tray, did you replace the sensor on the side of the engine too ?

Did it fix the VVT? I have the same issue, compounded when it rains it seems. Any info would be great!

It did for me! I did notice that there was water corrosion in the old vvt part, so I really believe my problem was a short when water got in the connector. I did also sillicone seal the top of the connectors to keep water out as well, and so far so good! Thanks for watching :)

I had this issue after walmart changed the oil and filter. I changed the vtec and still having the same issue

ah, it could be a few other things as well, related to oil. have you checked oil level? ive heard that the oil type and pressure can cause it to have this problem too. Good luck! Thanks for watching!

Element VVTs seem temperamental. I recently had the VVT replaced on my 2003 Element as a way to fix a big oil leak. My mechanic first used two after-market VVTs to save me money, but they both failed. They made the malfunction indicator lamp go on and my car would suddenly stutter and almost stall while I was driving or it would slow down when I was trying to accelerate. Then they put a Honda OEM VVT in. Oddly, the light and all of those weird issues have come back twice and then just went away. My mechanic is perplexed. I don't think it's related to heavy rain, but I'll look for that!

They do! I've gone thru 2 aftermarket ones as well. There's just a lot of issues that it could be, and they all seem to come and go! There's likely a pattern involved, maybe it comes right after an oil change, or weather, or something! Good luck on the search! Thanks for watching :)

I think I heard it from somewhere but... the VVT of the HONDA ELEMENT sits under where the waterline is under the hood. Water tends to get to the electrical wiring on it because it probably drips from there. Almost every where I search online, all element come to this P2646 problem. Just pop the hood and look where the waterline that's mounted under the hood.

@@DavinnaJo Here's where I got it from. I've looked into this problem and I've seen a lot of Elements come across this problem online and they can't pinpoint the reoccurring problem when different model Honda cars with the same K-series engine don't have this problem. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4rbl617ntN4jrM
