HONDA EU7000I VS YAMAHA EF6300ISED Fuel Efficiency Test | Carburetor vs Injector

In this test I drained both generators completely out of gas then added only 32oz to each tank.
Let's see how long they will run with a 1000 watts load.
HONDA EU7000is
The Honda EU7000iS houses a 389 cc Honda GX390 EFI OHV 4-stroke engine, which provides 120/240V, consumes gasoline and delivers a running wattage of 5500W along with a peak wattage of 7000W. In addition, the device is parallel capable, can be linked to a similar or compatible unit for added power.
With a full tank, the EU7000iS can operate for up to 16 hours (fuel consumption around 0.32 GPH), thanks to its fuel capacity of 5.1 gallons.
YAMAHA 6300ISED
The Yamaha EF6300iSDE's engine, 357 cc Yamaha MZ360 OHV 4-stroke, fueled by gasoline, can deliver 120/240V. It provides a running wattage of 5500W and reaches a peak wattage of 6300W.
The fuel capacity of 4.5 gallons allows the EF6300iSDE to operate for up to 13.3 hours with a full tank (fuel consumption around 0.34 GPH).

Not surprised that they're so quiet. Both are slightly under 20% capacity. For a more practical test I'd have them with a 50% load.

Do not ever buy Honda, it is 2 1/2 to 3 times more money always. U can buy 2 or more of the other brand & it will always outlast Honda forever. A few minutes more is never worth $3000 more. Most generators made in China nowadays, included Honda.

Have been a Yamaha guy all my life, I couldn't go blue for the Generators. From what I've seen it's $350-$500 difference and, to me, the Honda wins in fit, function, looks, capacity and capability. Both Honda and Yamaha need to offer more for the buck. I also feel the Yamaha is dated at this point.

Great vid, You should do fuel economy shootout Honda EU7000is against all the large generators eg. Genmax, Duramax etc... fuel usage can certainly be a factor if you're using your genset a lot.

good test.. i know some people only fill up after a generator completely runs out .. but could you run those test again with the fuel system already primed and ready to run with the tank sucked out .. thus alleviating any difference the priming process might take away?!! thanks for the work you put in ..

Now I'm curious about the runtime with a Eu2200i pulling 1k watts with 32oz. I'm guessing it's longer because of the smaller displacement even though it's carbed not injected

Honda hit gold streak, again, with 7000. With all of the problems with utilities, as quiet it is, and being Honda (= they never f.... basics). Honda is among last companies in world where ENGINEERS has any say on what is presented to consumers.

When I bought my Honda 7000 3 years ago I also looked at a similar Yamaha (I think it was this model). At that time the Yamaha did not have a backup pull start. Is this still the case? If it is why on earth would someone buy it?

Wait.. didn’t the Honda last 42.5 minutes on 32oz against the powerhorse? And now nearly 50 min on 32 oz against the Yamaha? That’s a 7 min difference with same amount of gas and same load.

Can you run a pure sine wave inverter in line with a regular generator and hook up sensitive equipment to the inverter to charge them, is this possible 🤔. I have a brand new generator but it's not an inverter built in and I'd hate to have to buy another generator with a built in inverter to replace it.

You could have at least filled them both up just enough to run, let them run out THEN add 32 ounces of fuel to each one for a demonstrably fair trial. I don't and won't own either one, I just can't call this a test.
