yes we were. hopefully I’ll be able to get back on this project in the next few weeks. there’s a lot of other stuff like the primary chain needs replacing which I don’t think helped with trying to turn the engine by handAll the best for the new year too

Thanks for making these videos. I am preparing to disassemble a 79 GL1000 motor, but I haven’t been able to find any relevant videos. I believe the GL1000 and GL1100 are essentially the same motor, but the 1100 has a slightly larger bore.

I love the level of detail to your videos guys. What a battle that was!

Thanks mate. As I say in the video this was a seized engine and I’m sure if everything was free the casing would just pop off ha ha😊 you see loads of videos with mega tidy workshops etc. I’m sure a lot of bikers only have a limited amount of space like us and not every specialist tool in the world 😊 I’m glad there’s enthusiasts like yourself who appreciate what we’re doing. Happy New Year to you Tony and I’ll be trying to sort out some more soon. I haven’t forgotten the neutral switch 😊 cheers

Hi Tony how did you get on with the neutral switch?

@@wreckedemmotorcyclesbikepr8097 funny you should ask, it was this weekends job. I went out there yesterday and tried firing the bike up. The cold nights have done the lead/ acid in. The battery is on charge now in the shed. Ill fit it again next weekend and have a go. Thanks for asking though :-)

@@tonyk6172 No problem Tony hope the batteries ok too. I have a Vmax I was riding over the summer/autumn that's the same. I need to sort it out next weekend as it's due for an MOT mid February.

The other thing to do if a piston is all the way down is to hone the rust from the cylinder wall before trying to get the piston out

Thanks for the info Edward and yes that’s a great idea however we were trying to move the pistons downwards as the casing was moving upwards so it was difficult to be able to try a d clean anything out and at the time I didn’t know why the engine was seized. I’m hoping to have this channel producing videos again very soon I’m just in the process of sorting out a bike for a mate which seems to be taking a lot longer than expected. I wish you and everyone else for that matter a very merry Xmas and a Happy New Year take care

If anyone else is in this position, try pouring vinegar down the bores for a day or 2, cleans out the corrosion/rust
