Glad you like them! I am working on recording the whole process. I hope they get better

I hadn’t thought about a tow set up. I was a bit surprised how much of the bike I ended up taking apart just to get to the maintenance items.

My mufflers seemed to be seized onto that turtle-like part in front of them. I got the muffler clamps off with great difficulty, but I didn't have the courage to twist and shimmy the muffler off with force like you did. I didn't want to break that front part. I was able to bend them slightly down just enough to get the the axle out. Thanks very much for the video.

Good job! I’ve learned to be very careful with the older plastic. You keep the videos coming as I am always looking forward to your next one!

Boy oh boy this was a fun job! 😒 I just did this to my 88 and it had a towing frame on it so I had to take that off before I could remove the wheel and back it out. What a mess haha but fun to learn.

I just had to come back in here from doing this because it didn't look like I was getting the gear pushed in all the way into the drive, I took the whole thing off twice ( it;s over 100 degrees in my driveway right now lol ) to see if there was something pinched somehow. looking at the drive side where the wheel goes in i was seeing a really shiny ring all the way around on that drum lip and I thought it must not be all the way in, but looking at yours here the ring lips in the right place , same as mine when I thought it was not all the way in there. turns out there is debris build up on that piece of plastic and it appears now to me that the debris were polishing the aluminum making it look like it was not exposed to the elements. ( A Chore you say? ) Ha I am on the center stand as well and to do this over and over seemed more like a punishment! I mean for doing something terrible! whoo hoo though, it;s starting to get dark and a little cooler now, I am going to go do this 1 more time! Thanks for teh video man, really helped.

On the driven gear did you use The Moly 60 or the M77 MolybPaste or regular grease?
@claytongerber6 ай бұрын
I used regular grease.

Way easier to lay the bike on its side in the grass.
@rickdff625 ай бұрын
Not a criticism but an observation, you really should have removed the entire final drive assembly and greased the final drive internal splines since you had the rear wheel off. If you end up doing that at a later date only use Honda Moly M77 paste. Cheers.

That is the complete wrong way to do it!!!!

Goldwing docs has a much more professional process. Removing the under panel on the trunk makes everything easier. Just swivel the mufflers down. Rinsing the rear end is a good idea.

@@camelkins9688 Maybe he's referring to the "streamlined" process where the trunk and bags are left in one piece and pivoted up. I saw the Honda mechanic do that (back when the dealers still worked on GL1500's). Seemed pretty straightforward and easier than the piece by piece disassembly. Still, a snarky comment, if you ask me. Guy takes the time to share his wrenching exploits, we can at least offer alternative ideas in a nice way. After all, we all love our Wings. Haven't checked out Goldwing docs method, but will do so.
