Hooking up the Motorola MA1 to my 2018 Goldwing for the first time. Please excuse the sounds of my wife working out in the living room.

Honda NEEDS this as standard on the bike. I just ordered my MA1 and I hope it works just like this.

Any updates on how well this setup is working when it is put through its paces on the road? Will we actually be able to stop for gas and get back on the road easily with our Google maps on the screen? If it works as well as demo-ed then this is a game changer! Thanks so much for posting this video!

Well, it works ok on the road. Yes you can stop for gas and get back going without having to mess with it. But there are still random disconnects, like I got with a wired setup, so not a Motorola issue but a Honda one.

The automatic connection to Android Auto is a setting, both for wireless and wired. You must just have yours off for wired. I just got an MA1 and I agree it works well.

Hi could you please explain where the setting is for wired and how I turn on for wired please also any idea if the MA1 works for iPhone too. TIA

@@paulmarley754 There's no way the MA1 will work for CarPlay. For your first question: In Android Auto on your phone, check the Start Android Auto automatically option. Mine is "Default (set by the car)". Then you want to find that setting in Android Auto in your vehicle and set it whatever the Yes/Auto/Always option is. I'm not in my car so I can't check the name of this option.

@@sdanielsvt with the MA1 do you think it matters when you turn on your headset? In the video he turned the bike on when the headset was already on and turned it on in the middle of booting up. In the forums they're always saying you have to wait for your Sena to beep twice.

I’ll try this. The issue I have is with my Goldwing my phone is way in the trunk. To access it (at a stop not while riding) I need to get off the bike and open the trunk. Such a stupid design.

I had already ordered the Ottocast U2-x before I saw your video and because it supports masquerading as a carplay phone to your head unit in your car. My car only has wired carplay connectivity so this adapter let's me use my Android Auto phone in my car. I tried it on the Goldwing and had a similar experience as you did in your video but I did have some disconnections while the bike was parked. Seems to happen consistently between cables and devices. Not sure if it's worth me trying the motorola ma1 or not. I am extremely tempted in ordering one just to make sure I'm not missing the key to the one negative to an otherwise perfect for me bike.

Do you leave it out with the goldwing, or do you take it in the house when not riding?

Hello Zack. Thanks for the video! Question for you, and others who have watched this video and decided to do this… My question is, does anyone know of a USB splitter that will work/support all functions? I currently have this, but I cannot plug the MA1 into 1 of the for connectors as it says/pops up on the dash that there is an “unsupported hub device“ plugged into the USB. This splitter does provide power to each cord plug, but for some reason I cannot use any of them to plug the MA1 into. It powers it up just fine, but won’t connect to my Galaxy S10 unless it’s plugged directly into the 1 factory supplied USB port… Any suggestions, or has anyone else run into this and come up with a solution? Thanks, -John

I have a Samsung s20 fe and it will use about 25% of the battery life in a two hour ride with it running navigation and streaming music

Do you still have the phone paired to the bike or just the MA1?

Anyone able to figure out how to trick the GW into thinking you have a headset attached as well? I have tried several products off of Amazon and even though the Headset Icon comes onto the GW screen it will not display Carplay. I dont use headsets so looking for a cheap way out.

Hello. After 6 months is still working without problems ?
@rhodeszk Жыл бұрын
Just the random disconnects that I also had with the wired setup. Does not seem to have any rhyme or reason, just happens. Sometimes will work great for a two hour ride, sometimes it will disconnect 4-5 times. A Honda problem not a Motorola one l in my opinion.
@SzczeMarek Жыл бұрын
@@rhodeszk I bought a Motorola and I have the same problem, I can see that with Honda it's just the norm. Thanks Zack for the info.

Can you still play music via the bike speakers on android auto while you have your headset connected?
@Myrune111 ай бұрын
@@vincentho7050 Yes, just switch to speakers once everything is running. You do have to connect the headset first. (Stupid programming!)
