I have been running the Honda HRX series and The HRC commercial series mowers in my landscaping company for 15 years the engines are great to me we change the oil ever 20 to 25 hours and stay on top of the air filters and have never had an engine problem.

My favorite push mower engine has to be the little Briggs engines where the carburetor is right on the tank there's only two bolts holding the tank on so you can take the tank right off and then there's only three screws holding the carburetor to the tank and then it's a diaphragm carburetor so there's like two passages that you can easily clear and if the diaphragm is stretched they sell them a lot of hardware stores

I found a free big wheel craftsman mower beside the road. I spent 15 minutes cleaning the rust off the magnet and coil. It now runs and I'm taking it to work to mow the lawn there.

Here in Michigan it doesn't matter how nice you fix up a riding tractor everybody wants to offer you $200 and they won't pay much more than that I've made the most money getting push mowers free fixing them up and selling them nice thing about push mowers you don't have to deal with batteries or starters or any of that and like what you're doing right now in engine swap is really really easy if you keep two or three push mowers around then you got parts when I run out of room I'll pull the motor and set it on a shelf and scrap the rest

You can’t go wrong with a Honda push mower. Personally, I rather work on tractors, but the right time of year push mowers do sell.

Those Honda ones rust worse than any other push mower type I have found. The last one of these I had was broken in half but then engine was in really good shape. My buddy wanted to trade me a home Depot style John Deere lawn tractor without a deck for it so he could power a mud mower with the Honda. Based on the fact that he says it works pretty well I would say they are a good engine.

When I’m bored I find a free mower and find out what it will run on, some of the explosions are quite impressive 😂

I once tried running a mower on lamp oil. It needed so much to run that it wouldn’t run when in the carb

On that little more you could probably just take that second blade off of there so it doesn't stick down so far or put bushings in between the deck and the engine

Pretty much did what you and I'll say that mower now has a Briggs and Stratton because when the Honda was good it was good but when it wasn't that's why I'm running a Briggs and Stratton.

I wish they made a gxv190 or gxv200 vertical mount engine

Agreed that is why I converted a predator to be vertical shaft.

Pretty much all the newer push mowers are a clone or variant of a clone of that motor from what I've seen
@josephbroussard58514 ай бұрын
I had a troy built with that engine hate them had a bent valve and was eating oil plus the dum design u can't easily change a valve like a Briggs because they have a timing belt in them
