thats another reason why i stick to 90s civic because they have so much room around engine. you can literally see vtec solenoid and everything on back by standing near fender. whole k series longblock is like 6 inches or 1ft away from firewall.

Another good way I found to change the oil filter without making a mess on these engines is to use a piece of tin foil and bend around the axle boot and another piece on the back side of the engine in front of the axle boot. Tin foil are cheap, easy to bend in shape and oil would just slide right off and into the drain pan underneath
@jbaccord3 жыл бұрын
They actually sell something that’s called a flexible funnel, it’s a life saver! But I like how you were creative to get some tin foil for the same purpose as the flexible funnel ! 🤞🏽

@TheGerbsteve3 жыл бұрын
No, especially with the way i drive. I can see 8k, maybe 10k being more logical. Still change my oil every 6k though... I'm ocd with that lol. You have to think, if you constantly rev or race means increased rpm = more heat and imo will break down oils faster, making them dirtier.

Search up this part number: VSB02C000033 (Honda OEM Part used at dealerships) this is the oil deflector you seek for the crappy filter location. I use it and it works great on my 2007 Honda Civic Si. K20. Let me know if you have any questions. There is a hole at the top of the deflector that sits on a metal corner (on the car) to hold it in place.
