Honda Keyless Entry Remote Battery Change

Welcome to my sixth video!
This video kinda ruins the timeline of videos I have backed up but whatever! Came home for the weekend and the CRV suddenly had a "keyless remote battery low" notification on the dash. I decided I would stop by a local drug mart and grab a 2032, 3 volt battery, to replace it. Sorry again for the bad camera angle but I really felt like making this video all of the sudden. Enjoy!

I replaced the key fob battery and now my Honda civic won't start. Jumped it off and two days later won't start again. What are the chances that key fob battery and car battery both died at same time?

Getting the battery out was a real challenge. While I was attempting to do it, all the buttons fell out. Putting them back together was a pain. I hate the design of this key.

Wait. Do all the 2032 batteries have that thin film on it? Is that why my key fob isn’t working when I walk away from the car?

I also learned today that 2025 batteries can work just as well as 2032 cuz only the thickness is different. At least for my key fob for 2017 civic.

That’s really good to know because I went to three stores looking for the right battery. there was a bunch of 2025s in every single one it only took the third store to find the 2032

If one key fob says low battery can I use my extra key fob I got from the dealer when I got my car and it will go away ? Or it wouldn’t sensor the 2nd one ?

It makes no difference to any car function which key fob you use

@@twizzian I’m guessing when I bought my Honda 2 months ago they didint program the 2nd key becuase it don’t even detect it at all it’s not dead just not programmed I guess

Make sure you take it apart carefully! My buttons fell out when I opened it.

Yes, I had this happen, I eventually just left the hold button off the fob.

It was like putting a jigsaw puzzle back together again. Even holding my other wireless key fob next to the one getting the replacement battery only helped a little in orienting the little plastic pieces correctly.

can you remove the keyless battery warning from the dash?? without replacing the battery.

I dont believe so but I havent tried. You can temporarily get rid of it by hitting the info button on your steering wheel though, but you have to do this every time you start the car

yeah,once you change the battery,you're screwed because the key fob stops working & one needs to reprogram it,that's the hardest part,not to change the stupid battery.
