This trick really worked, damnn!!!. I recently replaced the IACV on my 99 civic cause the engine was stalling when the AC was ON and the idle is low around 200-300. Then after replacing the IACV and cleaning the throttle body, the idle even got worse. The mechanic thought that the new IACV was faulty but i doubt it cause it was checked working. So I tested this ECU reset and idle relearn. And the damn trick worked! Hahaha. Thanks for this video saved me from a lot of worrying and money. These hondas really are tricky and sensitive when replacing some parts.

All I know is I have had the engine rebuilt 6 years ago or more, clutch and transmission rebuilt, new plugs, wires, gas filter, air filter, fixed the IACV, tighten the FITV, new Air filter, replaced all my radiator hoses, replaced some seals, O rings etc. etc.... and a few other things... it ran okay... it was good... but then 4 days ago I cleaned the Map Sensor and the Throttle body! Holy shyt! hahaha... Full Power Captain!! and my Gas Mileage went way back up to at least 41 mpg highway, 35 City... all I know is it's fun to drive my Del Sol now and I have had this car for many, many years.,.. wish I knew about this a long time ago!!

At first I was having engine hesitation, so I replaced the tps sensor. After installing a new throttle position sensor on my 97 civic I bought a multimeter to check the voltage on it since it was giving me the p0122 low input code. On idle it's not showing any voltage, however on full throttle it's showing 3.10volts, when I believe normal specs is around 4.5v for full throttle and 0.5v for idle. I tried resetting the ecm as well to no avail. I'm not really sure what route to take at this point on whether to replace the throttle body altogether or perhaps get a oem tps sensor this time around. Any help would be appreciated.

Really great advice. We have a '96 Honda Civic here in Thailand for whenever we visit from Australia (My partner is Thai). It has a rough low idle when the air-conditioning cuts in and no power until 4,000 rpm, then (for a little 26 year old 1.6) it pulls really well after 4,000rpm.

Let me tell you a little about the issues I have with my toy and then ask a question. I have a 95 ex coupe 1.6 manual. It’s had this idle issue going up and down for a long time. Some time ago I had the head rebuild and hoped that would help it, but problem continued. I replaced the IACV, cleaned very well the other valve that goes under the throttle, cleaned the throttle. And the issue was still there. So I noticed that the fan would kick in, checked the fuse, relax, and connected the fan directly to battery and it worked. Replaced the switch and still didn’t work. I replaced the thermostat and still doesn’t work and the idle issues is still there. Another Honda guy took a look on it and he said it has an air leak somewhere but couldn’t find it. And he told me that the throttle body is absorbing or suctioning too much air and it’s true. It sounds like vacuum when it’s working at its max. What would you recommend me to do? What to check? What to change etc? Thank you in advance for your help and time.

I always replaced the iac from a junk yard part it's usually original part,the other part on the bottom of the iac,that has the water hoses hooked to it is for the idle at operating temp that too controls the idle ,but yeah I usually just find one off a junk car at a pull a part .50/50chance,the fast idle thermo valve will cause the surging if the coolant is low too.hope this helps.id just replace the whole unit iac and thermo valve and all,and see.if u have an air pocket or the little hoses are kinked or clogged up the computer will take away injector pulse causing the surging idle ..so low coolant,air pocket or clogged thermo hoses, collapsed thermo hoses,or just a bad thermo valve could be the issue,air pockets in the system are hard to get out ask any Subaru guy.😂

@@ogairbender808 thank you very much first for replying. Because I’ve watched a lot of videos asked them them the same question and you’re the only one who replied. I’m get a junk yard valve and see what happens. For the coolant drain is a pain in the neck, but I’ve done my best to make sure it doesn’t have any air in. I might give it another squeeze and let you know how it goes. Thank you again.

@@ogairbender808 hi my friend, juts an update and thank you for your advice. I went to the junk yard, was lucky to find a car same model like mine, took the iacv out, gave it a really good cleaning, installed and the surge problem stopped right away. The part says “made in Japan” so I’m sure it’s the original. But it’s been almost 3 weeks now and my little toy is running like roadrunner. Thank you again.

Hey man I got a 00 Civic EX and has a really low idle once it warms up. When the car is in drive, reverse, or neutral it nearly wants to stall out but it doesn’t quite stall. Once I put it back in park the rpms jump somewhat but are still low (like 600 rpm). Do you think cleaning my IACV and throttle body would help resolve this issue? Or what do you think I need to do to fix this? Btw I recently did a tune up (plugs, wires, oil, filters, etc) not too long ago and it still doing this.
@MrTakeOne4 жыл бұрын
Anything? Did you happen to clean the IACV ?
@russyp4 жыл бұрын
I’d like to hear how it goes too!
@Eddie312.4 жыл бұрын
So I did solve my issue. I’m not sure what I did that made it idle normally but it was one of these three things. 1. I changed the fuel filter, 2. I drained my coolant (it was very dirty) and refilled it (make sure to get all the air bubbles out) 3. I noticed my oil level was low and so I filled it up. I did all of these on the same day and started the car after I did all of these things. The car now idles ~800 rpms and stays that way. My best guess is check your oil and look to see if your cooling system has air in it because that will cause idle issues as well. Also I did not have to clean the IACV but you could try that if these three don’t work.

What about when all these things are good? Could a bad Cat give you similar symptoms? Rough idle low acceleration no acceleration under load? God these cars are annoying.
@ogairbender808 Жыл бұрын
Yes they are that is why if you ever watch the fast and furious they are always working on a dang Honda🤣, the Toyota is of course superior.buy that aside it is possible a bad cat could be an issue especially if it gets worse when it gets warm meaning the engine reaches operating temperature,have you replaced the whole idal air control unit,I like to get mine from a junk yard aka pull apart it's a 50/50shot at working and it's usually an original part too I've had good luck with that, sometimes the distributor just goes bad .will it crank and run?
@brianhannon Жыл бұрын
@@ogairbender808 yeah I've replaced the entire IACV with a brand new legit OEM one previously. I usually get iddle serging when that goes bad. Distributor seems good I checked it. I thought about just replacing entire throttle body including TPS but I think it's the CAT. Bad smell bucking hesitation under load at low rpm. Definitely gets enough fuel at the top end and no clutch slippage or anything weird. Throttle cable is adjusted properly. I'm telling you that's one thing Fast and Furious got right lol it's literally one thing after the next with these things. Maybe it's just having over 200k miles. I bet the catalytic converter manifold has a crack and it's all poopy. Just gathering some research before I keep chucking parts at it. Thanks for response!
