Honda Monkey - 6 months ownership. The good & the bad

I've had the Honda Monkey for about 6 months now and even though I've not ridden it a huge amount, I've still been able to work out what I like and don't like about it.

I am 80 years of age ( really ) and just bought a Monkey and now have 400 miles on it. This is just right for me, for 9 horse power it is surprisingly quick and gets up to 45-50 quite well, super fun and easy to control and handles turns very good and the comfort level is just fine for me. A really good purchase and am very comfortable ridding this mini moto. Will leave the exhaust stock because I like quiet while ridding, did put mirror extenders on it for a better view to the rear.

I have 6 bikes. All for fun. Monkey I have done 4500m in 14months. 6ft 4 and OK comfort. Reasons to keep. Look great. Cheeeeep to run. Tax. Don.t take up much room. Main reason to keep. Big smile every time I ride it. 👍

I bought Monkey bike back in 2018, and so far made 5000km full of fun with it. (as my second bike). To me it is a keeper.

Thanks for your thoughts! Nice video. - I have ordered the new DAX ST 125, and I have been waiting for 6 months now for delivery.. it should arrive in july, so I'm super exited. I find it so hard to chose between the Monkey and the Dax. I have done a test ride on the brand new Monkey 2023, which has better suspensions than the previous model and it also has 5 gears like your 2021 model. Its just awesome, but the colors of the 2023 model are not as beautiful as your 2021 model.. If I ever should regret buying the Dax, I will be replacing it with the Monkey. I have not yet tried the Dax, as its nowhere to be found in Denmark at the moment, so I just ordered it without ever trying it. I think you will deeply reget it if you sell the Monkey!

I own a Monkey since 2022. Fantastic bike! Having problems with the battery due to its limited capacity and the fact that I do not use the bike a lot (second bike). The engine of this gem is incredible, economical (1,70 liters per 100 km) and full of response considering how small it is.

I purchase one 3 months ago and unfortunately I'm not really enjoying it (no fault of its own) basically the seating position doesn't suit me due to lower back pain( tailbone injury) my previous bike was a Benelli TNT 125 same as the grom it seems the slightly more forward position its ok for me! Does anyone know of any tricks the get the monkey into that position? Can the handlebars be moved forward or the seat be raise up or changed or something? Brilliant bike but ❤ if it comes to it I will probably trade against a grom or maybe a cub!

Er…. What’s wrong with an old person on a Monkey? ;) You’d love Thailand. £90 for a service?!!!! It’s a third of that here. The most expensive service on a Vespa GTS 300 is only £125 here. Yes! I’m a Brit living in Bangkok.
