Would you happen to know if this exhaust would be compatible with the Kitaco Honda Monkey Skid Plate fitment wise? Tnx for any info.
@UnknownOverLand4 жыл бұрын
Amazing timing on your question because I was literally looking at that this morning as well. I believe that it should. The way that it installs it's meant to cover the stock headers (including the cat) which hangs a fair amount below the engine. The RS3 header has a bend much closer to the engine which seems like it'd keep it nice and high, and away from the skid plate. The one worry I have, though, is the side of the plate where the stock exhaust comes "up"; because the stock exhaust header has the cat, the bend upwards starts further back whereas the yoshi exhaust comes almost immediately up the side. This might be right where the side panel of the kitaco sits, but I'm not sure.
@findingneutral4 жыл бұрын
@@UnknownOverLand That's exactly where I think the Kitaco bracket will interfere. I already own the skid plate and just ordered the same exhaust as yours. I was freeze framing your install trying to catch the angles to see. I even called Yoshi but they said the did not know. I get my exhaust later this week. I'll update you on the outcome and thank you for sharing your insight and great videos.
@UnknownOverLand4 жыл бұрын
Yes, please let me know how it goes. I know there are a few other skid plate options out there, but this was definitely the one I had my eye on.
@findingneutral4 жыл бұрын
@@UnknownOverLand Will do.
@findingneutral4 жыл бұрын
@@UnknownOverLand Well the skid plate did not fit due to the header pipe, without me doing some handy man mods to it. I will say I went ahead and drilled some new holes and bent the sides out a bit and made it fit . In a nut shell on the plate itself drilled two new holes as far back on it as I could go where it attaches to rear bracket that get mounted up under the engine near the kickstand area. Then I had to flex bend outward the side flare parts that come up on both frontal brackets that connect on the sides of the engine on both sides. This made more width to accommodate the header pipe coming outward more on the exhaust side. Then I had to cut out a piece of the bracket arm on the left. Where I bent and flexed the plate outward it looks a bit shabby even though I protected it with tape and a rag, but i was not about to not try since the skid plate was almost $200. It feels solid in place and doesn't look cockeyed either. So all in all I'm happy with my rigging and feel confident I could take it off and on for any maintenance needs. I do not think knowing what I know now I would buy the plate knowing I was going to have to mangle it to fit though. But I also hate hearing "tink tink tink tink" as pebbles smack my engine under side. I'm sure you could make it work with your skills if its something you really want. I looked for other plate options but did not see anything except under cowlings. If you want to see what it looks like installed on my bike shoot me your gmail and I could send pics. I'm not a creeper or anything.

The Lambda probe can simply remain in the cylinder head ... you don't have to screw it into the exhaust!
