@@rideordie6886 That's precisely the reason I'm getting one. I love scooters they are loads of fun, but I'm digging the ergonomics of a motorcycle with the simplicity of a scooter mashup. Scooters are fun to upgrade and much cheaper than modding out a Grom or other small bore. I'm not sure what color I'm going to get yet but I asked for the nut brown or ranger green. I'd take the color you have too if that's my only option. Anything but red lol I actually have a 22 Grom SP shipping out this week for me too!

Can you please explain what are the results in practical terms. Lighter weights results in longer time to reach high speed and more torque? I would like to lower the RPM and possibly have more end speed. Just like adding a bigger pinion in a chain transition. Thank you for all your videos 👍🤝

Jam a 21mm socket in the starter teeth to hold it while loosening and tightening the variator nut, it works great! Just did it myself yesterday:)
@lanleyc
@lanleyc 8 ай бұрын
What do you mean by this? Where do you jam the socket in?
@JVBNorway
@JVBNorway 8 ай бұрын
@@lanleyc you place a socket in between the teeth on the variator while the flat side of the socket is flush with the crank case so that the variator does not spin when you need to loosen or tighten the variator nut (most sizes will fit, not just 21mm). When loosening you need to place the socket up against the top of the crank case and the variator teeth, and when tightening you place it on the bottom of the crank case and lock the teeth to stop clockwise rotation.
@lanleyc
@lanleyc 8 ай бұрын
@@JVBNorway hmm. Thanks for the info. I understand the concept but my socket won’t sit on the crank case and still touch the teeth of the drive plate to lock in. The drive plate is just a bit too far out for it to sit right
@JVBNorway
@JVBNorway 8 ай бұрын
@@lanleyc Damn, I thought it would work on the navi:/ I have a Honda Vision 50 that uses the same tooth mechanism to crank the variator and I have used this method without fail several times, but I see that the variator on the navi is pertruding further than mine is. Perhaps you would have an odd piece of hard metal you would have laying around that might do the trick!
@lanleyc
@lanleyc 8 ай бұрын
@@JVBNorway yeah I figure it was out too far the concept makes sense. I actually have a variator locker tool that has 3 teeth on it and I was able to jam it into the crank case and hold it tight enough to get the nut off… I am just having a really hard time torquing this thing to 69 foot pounds. I feel like I’m cranking down and the damn thing won’t click and since I’m holding that piece in there I feel like maybe I’m just not getting enough leverage to get the torque wrench to click

I went with the lightest weights possible with the S23 kit because I go about 240 and the Navi was struggling up hills. Lighter weights in the variator are better for faster response for heavier riders. At least that is what I have heard. I also replaced the clutch with an S23 at the same time and it made a huge difference. Makes me wonder if you ended up doing the same.. I will look around at your videos. Not sure what a stronger contra spring will do for speed and power etc.

That cvt looks just like a gy6 honestly. I would try either a ncy or oko or bang jing variator for a gy6 150cc. They also make them for the honda np50 but I would try the gy6 version first. Just match them up if it isnt the same size send it back. All the gy6 150cc variators are the same size and I think that will match up honestly. Youll only be able to use the back end parts not the front drive face since yours has those gears for that to work with the bendix and kick starter. And I would try Dr Pulley sliders instead of rollers just measure the size youll find what you need. Ive done a ton of experimenting and researching on cvt tuning for the gy6 setups. It is a noticeable difference in sliders vs rollers performance. You should also look into the clutch springs as well. If you want the clutch bell to engage sooner get lighter rpm clutch springs. Should be 3 of those in there. Stock might be 1500 rpm you could drop down to 1000 rpm for quicker engagement.

Much appreciated!

Hi I can only achieve 51mpg with the SSP-G PERFORMANCE CLUTCH KIT and the MALOSSI VARIATOR KIT (12) roller’s FOR the HONDA NAVI. What’s your thoughts on the break in period? I currently have 197 miles on it. I’m wondering if it will go faster after the break in. Thank you

Unfortunately with the mpg it will never be vary good on less then a gallon of Petro in the the tank, it’s a constant full throttle kinda toy… Yes you will start to see things loosing up I personally think the malossi variator is a waste. I would go with 13 gram roller weights and a lighter clutch cover that’s more lighter and breathable. Also a 1400rmp clutch spring. Mines pretty quick with out changing out the factory carb but remember if you want faster just buy a different bike lol good luck

@@rideordie6886what’s up man thanks for the videos. I got a Navi for delivery and want to hit a consistent 50mph even in winds with 25mph. Usually in those weather conditions I top out 45mph. Also would like to accelerate faster to that speed. What I’m thinking of doing is getting weights and deleting the rev limiter? I’m really not at all a mechanic but I’m willing to learn and try! Any tips or advice would be great. One of the old Honda guys told me 30k miles should be doable for the Navi before any serious mechanical issues. If I could keep that 30k estimate and do these upgrades that’d be great. I suppose the 50mph would be best as I don’t like slowing traffic down. They can wait for me to get there tho lol

Basically the roller weights change how much rpm the bike can spin up to. Heavier roller weights gives the bike more low end torque and the lighter weights give the bike more top speed. You need to test different weights to see which one you prefer.
