This is the kind of testing that the bike world needs more of! More getting geeky and less subjective analysis is so helpful.

I'm glad you think so, I'm not a natural comedian so I tend to adopt detailed / nurd mode, hopefully not to dry but useful. :)

DBs are not the only criterion. It’s also at which frequencies the sound is produced. What difference did you notice from inside your helmet? Was it easier to hear?
@BikingChap
@BikingChap Жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree, the challenge with something like an exhaust check you can either give a carefully considered, honest opinion or go down the technical route with thousands of pounds worth of dB meters and spectrum analysers, a bit beyond my budget! :) On the move, inside my helmet, I felt that without the baffle it was fine pottering around but under load it would get a bit tiresome with a hefty bass thump. With the baffle in it was only a little more noticeable pottering but still noticeably louder under load. I could live with over distance. As is often the way the most impressive is the oem silencer for having a good bit of character when starting up and pulling away but controlling the noise well when under load / larger throttle openings.

11:45 Magnet(s) in a stocking/sock to remove it. Had to use this trick for a lost part inside my carbon framed bicycle. Nice comparison. A roadside drive by would have really given a third party comparison but overall a decent can! If this fits other bikes and someone gets it they're in for a treat. Sadly I've only got a CB125F🤣

A nice trick, I like it! Helpfully Black Widow use stainless nuts / bolts / screws so it won’t work here, in reality it only took a minute to pop the can off, give it a shake, and retrieve the bolt. Twice. ;) I’ll try the drive by in the next video, I agree it would an improvement. As for the CB that was my first review 7+ years ago, although I never videoed it I did try a Scorpion system and it fitted nicely and was fruity but inoffensive with the baffle in. Good luck!

I fitted the full system to my 18 plate, i love the sound it makes not run it without baffles then it will be loud.not noticed any lack of power or increase but to be fair didn't expect any,fuel about the same down a little bu not much .loks way better than stock in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback Tony, I imagine without the baffle it would be pretty deafening but interesting to know the full system still doesn't mess up the fuelling in any way. It seems a pretty forgiving engine eh?

@@BikingChap yer it seems OK to me was only getting about 180 before fitting I would say the same after,what I really want is a better rear shock,so if your planning getting and fitting one for your channel then reselling then I may be your man ? Lol
@BikingChap
@BikingChap 11 ай бұрын
That's an interesting thought, trouble is if a better shock makes all the difference as everyone says they do, I wouldn't want to take it off lol.

@@tonywilliamson4512 If you have a google YSS certainly offer something and there's a shock from an older Honda 600 that's a straight swap and a good upgrade.

Hi, I have a 2015 dct model, with SP Engineering 300mm can and Black Widow decat pipe, definitely louder! Running it without the baffle in, not sure when or if I’ll put it in, by the way, what is the screen that you have on yours? Is it better than standard? 😎🏍👍😁
@BikingChap
@BikingChap Жыл бұрын
There is a video comparing 200 and 300mm can with and without the cat, the cat makes a big difference in taking edge of the noise. The 200mm and decat was just nasty lol. Screen is standard, just needs a damn good clean. :)

I have to say I remain to be convinced by these for a number of reasons. The ones I’ve seen are well over a hundred pounds /dollars and consist of little more than a resistor in a box and seem to be no more high tech than making the bike think the engine / air is cooler than it is leading the ecu to run a richer mixture. At the very least I’d want to see what the mixture looked like on a dyno because while we all know modern bikes are setup very lean it’s hard to tell what a simple device and a richer mixture will do long term to a bike.
@johncummins3860
@johncummins3860 Жыл бұрын
@@BikingChap they are a little more than a resistor they have an external air temp sensor - how much was that stainless steel tube you fitted for no gain ! As for " richer mixture " read correct mixture. I was sceptical before fitting but the low rev snatchy on /off power delivery was unacceptable after a Bandit 1200 - now is vastly better (manual box ) ride safe !

Aha, I stand corrected, just reading up on how the ECUs will only take notice of it when in open loop mode which makes more sense. I feel a test and tear down coming on! Thanks for straightening me out! 👍

@@BikingChap hi again, if you find any information on how to up the Rev limiter or disconnect it i would be eternally grateful !
@BikingChap
@BikingChap Жыл бұрын
I’ll keep my ear to the ground, I assume it’s part of the ecu firmware so the tuners may be able to re flash it to raise the rev limiter slightly.

I agree and even with the baffle out it wasn't obnoxious or likely to upset anyone but might be wearing on a long journey. impressive for the money imho.

It did make me realise what a good compromise the stock silencer is, even if it’s not very pretty. I’ve currently reverted back to standard too.
