Good video Adrian, especially for those who may be faint of heart and fearful of such relatively minor work on their machine.... It's worth mentioning that when re-inserting the plugs, whilst holding the socket as level as possible and applying a light pressure inwards along the axis of the plug, turning the thing back the way first until you feel the two thread starts "click", then turning clockwise to screw in, should prevent cross threading and subsequent damage to the alloy head!

Thanks..I just got an NC750X, and now I know the plugs are so easy to get to. In Canada we get a long winter, so pulling the plugs to oil fog the cylinders is a good idea. My last bike I didn't, as the plugs were buried.
@AfricaTwin-Stuff7 жыл бұрын
Garth Howe - yep. Know what you mean. My wife has a Honda 500x and that’s a real pain to get at the plugs.
@garthhowe2977 жыл бұрын
My trade-in on the NC750x was a CB500F ... so probably exactly the same to get to the plugs.

Great video as usual.....I prefer to watch/someone to show me how to do jobs then I feel more confident than reading straight from a manual......thanks for posting👍

Thanks for your useful videos!!. Official dealer tried to charge me 200 USD to change both spark plugs at the 12k service. I just said no way, and now I se I did the right thing. They warned me that this could void the warranty if future problems could be related to this "bad maintennance".
@AfricaTwin-Stuff6 жыл бұрын
Mr Fechu - and they wonder why everyone complains about poor service ! It’s why I decided to “take the risk” and do all my own maintenance from day 1.

I remember the days when you changed plugs every year 😱 You should put a tripod on your Xmas list as doing stuff over handed looks awkward! Great video 👍🏻

Thanks as always. Nice and easy job but it least you didn’t have to replace them. They almost look brand-new. A bit of a brushing and I would’ve been happy to put them straight back in.

On aluminum blocks I always put a bit of Anti-seize on the threats before I screw them back in by hand. Then torque them up in stages to the final setting.
@AfricaTwin-Stuff6 жыл бұрын
bigwheelsturning - yes. Like you, I was in the habit of lubing. There is a lot of contradictory argument about whether to lube or not. I was finally convinced not to lube by an article by the plug manufacturer. But I haven’t seen any harm in using appropriate lube.

Gday mate ive just recieved a set of iridium plugs for the cb the 100,000 km is why i bought them as you will know why . I found this mob on the net in australia called spark plugs online and they worked out at a reasonable price for the two express post 9.00 delivered the next day cant beat that .
@AfricaTwin-Stuff4 жыл бұрын
Wow. That’s cheap. Wendy’s bike didn’t specify iridium but given how much of a pain they are to change, it’s a good move to use iridium.

@oscaranton44006 жыл бұрын
Did you use an adjustable torque wrench to make sure you get 22Nm? Read somewhere that excess of torque may damage the engine block in the medium term. Thx!
@AfricaTwin-Stuff6 жыл бұрын
Oscar Anton - no I didn’t. But it’s best to use one if you are inexperienced or unsure. I’ve been maintaining my bikes for 46 years so my arm is my torque wrench for everything other than engine head bolts.

I currently have 62000+ miles (100,000+ Km)on my original plugs and still going strong. Do have replacement plugs available if/when my fuel mileage starts decreasing...Today's plugs should be good for 100,000+ miles or longer (especially Iridium plugs).

@davidleoncampbell Жыл бұрын
@@burakaydn4553 I did change my plugs at 64000 miles, doe to I was moving a thousand miles. Kept the old plugs as backup-they we're still good. After the move, I changed the plugs in my car at 160000 kms.

keith AU - yes, unfortunately most bikes are like that these days. It’s one of the main reasons I chose the NC (ease of maintenance) over my other possible choices of the V-storm or Versys.
