THanks so much. Have 'repaired' both our sliding doors, about 8 months apart. They both would close, and then relax and let go, allowing a lot of road noise in. All i needed to do was lube all the mechanisms. First door took me about 3 hours, the second about 1.5 hours. Zero cost. Thanks a million Dustin. Your fix was spot on about the little blue switch being bad. We bought 10 of them on Amazon for $7. One thing we would like to add is how to do a reset when everything's done. We got ours put back together, and the door was getting absolutely no power. So we took out fuse #7 and replaced it after a few minutes. Then we turned the dash switch for the power doors OFF, then opened the door-in-question ALL the way, then turned the dash switch back ON, then went over to the door and activated it by lifting the handle, as if to close. And, viola!, it DID close -- and has been working flawlessly ever since. We can't thank you enough for saving us the $1200 the stealership wanted (and which we were never going to pay). By the way, we also cleaned the rear latch really well, like many threads suggest. Good luck all you Ody Owners!

Jules Shepard great! I’m glad you saved some money and fixed it yourself. Thanks for the note on the reset after the repair. This video is awesome. But before doing ANY of this - try the following first. Click the power door switch to off (cover the red dot). Open the door MANUALLY. It'll be stiff, but you can do it. Close the door MANUALLY. Do this a couple times. Switch door back on (so you can see the red dot). Try operating the door normally (electrically) now. BINGO! Worked for me! It's been about three weeks now...

Since the worst case scenario was $250 for a new latch, I said what the hell, and opened up the microswitch. I found a lot of powdery corrosion on the contacts inside, and packed full of grime. Gonna clean them up tonight and see if I can revive the switch.

The metal parts inside of switch is stainless steel and should work if it is clean. I cleaned it very well, and put the cover back. I also used a little silicone to seal the gap on the below the cover to prevent future dirt from getting in. Reinstalled everything back. Now the door works perfectly.

Nice video 👍 Our 06 Ody keeps draining our new battery within couple of days. Pulled the #7 fuse and amp reading went from .32 to 02 ma. The wife previously mentioned that there was always an audible constants beep once the car was put into reverse or drive. Turned out to be the door alarm warning that indicated the sliding door were open and no warning in the instrument panel. I think this micro switch might be our culprit. For now I have the fuse removed, but, we lost our interior lights when doors are open, remote keyless entry, and our security. Told the wife we’ll have to deal with it until I can perform this task. Very grateful for this, BUT some caveats! I got the b2088 code and subsequently installed the original recommended switch. After the repair, my right door worked intermittently and in different fashion (when closing it took longer to do the last pull in bit), and my left door stopped working, altogether. I was not happy. Resolution: b2088 code was still showing, hence switch was still problem. It needed the arm to be bent out so it was more easily activated. Left door issue was the typical occurrence of where it needed to be reset: set dash sliding door switch to manual and then back to electronic, and press both door close buttons, or whatever the procedure is. So, I would highly recommend you get the direct replacement switch from Digikey, if you have the time. I didn't and needed to fix the issue quickly. Thank you, thank you!

aprieciate the vid. Figured mine out. In many cases its not the switch but a tiny spring loaded lever that activates the switch. White greas thickens over time so it will not spring back all the way into place. Main levers, servos and reset still work but the rear latch switch does not activate because the tiny lever inside is stuck. Just shoot good old wd40 way up into the rear latch assembly and walla... all is like new again. Hope this helps somone. airplane george not sure what you’ve tried, but I’d try to manually unlock it from the inside (don’t rely on power locks). @DustinRogersinMO6 жыл бұрын
Alonze Theodore there’s a cable that runs from the inside handle back to the latch. It’s possible that the cable is either broken or seized in the cable housing. You’d have to pull the interior door panel off to verify one way or the other.

Just fixed my '05 Odyssey driver side sliding door. They sell the micro switch on eBay for $30, exact fit, no hole drilling. After 2 days for driving, the light hasn't come back yet. Yes, the window track is pain in the neck to squeeze the latch assembly thru, even after I took off the bracket.

If I remove the #7 fuse without fixing the door will that stop the battery from draining?
@DustinRogersinMO2 жыл бұрын
I never had the draining battery issue. It’d be worth a try, but I’m not sure if the switch that malfunctions which causes the battery drain is on that same circuit, or a different circuit. If you have a multimeter, you could test it to find out. You basically need to remove one of your battery cables and connect your multimeter between the cable end and the battery post and set the meter to measure amps. Note the reading. Have someone pull fuse #7 and see if the amperage reading decreases (meaning the faulty switch can’t draw current anymore). Keep in mind that unhooking the battery cable will cause the radio to lock and will erase your preset radio stations, etc. So make sure you have your radio unlock code handy.

I just took the window track bracket off but can't get the latch out. The latch has a wide piece of plastic that's behind the window track and the track doesn't flex much. The video is a bit light on detail there. Any help appreciated.

gabe barth ideally you wouldn’t have to bend the switch at all. The switch will get pressed as the latch mechanism moves.

So the button is not engaged until the open button is pushed and the lock mechanism would engage it. Or is the button not engaged and as the mechanism moves it then engages the button.

Thanks for your video it's so interesting and clear. I have a slightly different issue if you can help me please. After i reset the fuse, the door works fine for one time only (open&close), but after getting it closed the "slide door" light shows again and the door gets stuck from new. And when i reset the fuse 7 again the door works perfectly with all possible senarios (using the driver button or the handle from outside), so do you think it's a switch problem too? Model 2005 Thanks in advance

2010 Odyssey. Left sliding door closes, then "pops" ever so slightly back open. Red light is always on on dash. Door seems to always cycle thru closing then opening. Pretty sure it is the cause of battery drain. I was psyched to find your video. Only problem: I'm only getting code B1222, which has something to do with rear climate control. I'm not getting your codes. Anyone have thoughts? Will very much appreciate the help.

Hello there, great video did same thing works great both doors work now. However I noticed that when the door closes there is now about a 3-5 second delay before the latch motor pulls the door to latch. Both doors were having the same issue every 3 cycles would stop. I changed drivers door latch motor switch first worked great but with delay, the passenger side (before I repaired it the door would close and maybe 1 second then would latch) After replacing the switch works but it also now has the same delay. Any idea whats causing the delay?
@DustinRogersinMO5 жыл бұрын
Don Brown not sure what would cause the delay, as a switch is just a binary device. It’s either on or off. This particular switch is basically a limit switch to signal when that gear has reached a certain position. The circuit is closed until that gear activates the switch, at which time it breaks the circuit.

I think I figured it out. Ill go back and make a change and let you know.

Ken Simon you’ll need to check which error codes it’s throwing. If it’s one of the codes I show in this video, this repair should fix the issue unless there are multiple codes being thrown by your van.

Hey Dustin! I am heading to the pick and pull parts tomorrow. What is the exact name of the OEM switch that’s malfunctioning? Thank you
@DustinRogersinMO5 жыл бұрын
Albin Lagartera Honda doesn’t sell the switch separately. It’s built onto the sliding door rear latch assembly. You can purchase a nearly identical switch from Amazon (see link in description). If you buy a used latch assembly, be sure to do the continuity checks on the micro switch before you install it.

Chomp this will only fix the error codes shown in the video. There are several other things that affect door operation. Do you have any error codes?
@chomp543217 жыл бұрын
I have not checked for error code. I think I'll let my mechanic have to a look at it. It is too bloody cold outside so I'm not really in the mood to spend a couple of hours outdoor.
@jeffsoetmelk35666 жыл бұрын
Our 2008 Odysseyis similar, but the passenger slider wont latch the last catch. Neither switch will make it operate. It manually moves harder than it should. Wondering if it's the latch issue or main motor/closer motor?
@DustinRogersinMO6 жыл бұрын
Jeff Soetmelk if the SLIDE DOOR light is on, use the process I demonstrate in this video to check to see what the error code is. If it’s not one of the codes I mention, it’s likely a different issue, but searching for the code you have may show you how to fix it.
@jeffsoetmelk35666 жыл бұрын
@@DustinRogersinMO I have done all the fuse pulling, resetting I can find. I used your video to try the body codes. It said NO. Just the red light to say it not closed all the way. I'm at a loss, but guessing it's the main closer motor....??

There is another round sensor (switch) with two screws mount on the latch. It has three wires. How does it work? Mine always open no matter the latch positions. If I remove it and move the lever pass it's range, the switch will close.
@DustinRogersinMO6 жыл бұрын
Jimmy Chao I’m not familiar with the switch you’re referring to? Is it on the latch assembly? You may check out the forums on Odyclub.com. There’s a lot of good info over there. Unfortunately we no longer own that van, so it’s hard for me to reference things on it anymore.

Thank you, your video was a great help, I had code b2088 and the problem is now fixed. I'd like to add that I was able to open up the original blue micro switch and clean it out. The stainless steel arm is able to slide out and once you do that the switch pops open in the middle if you pry it gently with a small screw driver. Once its open you can easily clean the electrical contacts. Mine was caked in dirt so the contacts would barely move. I used a small needle and some brake clean spray to clean it out and then I sprayed some silicone spray to lightly lube the contacts. The micro switch parts easily clicked back together. Tested with ohm meter to verify it worked properly before putting it all back together.

Nice! I hadn’t considered attempting to fix the switch. Thanks for the technique.
