That 28" Honda track blower is roughly $2,900 around my area. The setup would be around $120 as done by Honda trained technician(s). If you go to Home Depot the guy assembling your snowblower also assembles other stuff and is not a Honda trained tech. Most of the Honda's that come back for repairs are NOT setup correctly resulting in breakdowns. Make SURE that whoever sets up your blower is more like a technician rather than someone who puts patio furniture together for display.

Beautiful machine ! Only thing I would have done different is the LED install. For safety I find it needs to be on a 5 to 6 ft pole and there should be a beacon too. Them LED's low down will not safe the operators life when you have 6ft windrows near the road.

If you put a bridge rectifier on the headlight circuit you won't get that 50-60hertz flicker. When you are out moving the snowblower around the flicker will become easier to see, when the snowblower is stationary it is less noticeable to the human eye. Awesome work!
@786334810 жыл бұрын
superedge99 Great tip. Someone else mentioned that as well. I'm going to look into that and see if I can figure out how to wire it in. There's four spades on the bridge rectifier so I need to research that. Much appreciated. Keep well.

Greetings from Norway, just across the globe a bit. Well, the world's a small place nowadays.. I came across your videos searching for snow clearing equipment. I'm starting up a similar business as yours next spring, and I find your videos both inspiring and entertaining. Hope you both have the time in the future to continue this great work. Will use the time from Planning on bying the new Massey 1758 or 1759 but I am not sure wether the HST is as reliable as the 12x12 powershuttle, and I'm somewhat disturbed by the squeeking noise I think it makes. Any comments on this subject from anyone is welcome. I also plan on pulling a 2.4 meters wide, 5 meters long road grader for the local forest and mountain roads (yes I believe you can do that with a compact using the right technique). Thought maybe the HST would wear fast under constant heavy loads?? Will now use the next few days "plowing through" all your videos. Best regards, Tommy.
@786334810 жыл бұрын
***** Hi Tommy. Yes it sure is a small world. Personally I prefer the HST especially for loader work. Fast and efficient. Our Kubota 5740 has HST Plus. Great transmission and very reliable. If I were farming pulling heavy implements then I think I'd go with the geared tractor. my 5740 is 60 HP turbo charged. It only has 200 hours on it but I love the machine. It's very quiet in the cab. the smaller tractors with HST do squeal a lot like our Kubota BX. Hope you enjoy our video's and thanks for watching.

Paul Short Thanks. Appreciate your response. I guess I'll go for the geared one and try to charge by the hour for the snowploughing :)

Just finished watching your latest episode on SRN (Specialty Repairs Network) on my big screen! I can't post a pic unfortunately here on youtube, but for those that have Apple TV (less than $100) you can wirelessly transmit your laptop screen to your big flatscreen. I will say the video/audio quality of your productions are awesome on a 60in monitor and 5.1 Surround sound! Wife really thinks I have lost it now... watching KZbin vids in style. Oh and the mods? Yes first class as usual. LED lights should be standard equipment in my mind as they now are inexpensive, bright, and efficient. I really like the GPS tracking ability. I will have to look into this for my more expensive tools and toys.
@78633489 жыл бұрын
Man oh man I don't know how I missed your post. I'm so sorry to have taken so long to comment. I too have Apple TV and yes we watch KZbin videos on the big screen as well. It sure is nice, actually better than being in the theater. Yeah LED Light's are the best thing since sliced bread LOL. We do all our videos in HD. One time it would take 20 hours to upload a 20 minute video. Now we can upload a 20 minute video in less than 10 minutes because of fiber opp so I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying the HD. Thanks for watching Mark and have a great Christmas.

Nice video again Paul. the snow-blower came out really nice. I guess it was worth the wait to see what this thing turned out like. I liked the lights you but on it that was probably my favorite mod or mods I guess you could say. I don't see any mounts on that for your drift cameras. You got to get one or two on there for when your using the blower to throw in a snow clearing video as a little clip.
@tylerdonovan492810 жыл бұрын
Also a quick question for you Paul. I have my lawnmower witch you may have seen in one of my videos. For a while now I have wanted to mount and LED light on there for if I was ever out at night cutting. There is no battery on the mower how would you go about getting a light on there, if it was possible.
@786334810 жыл бұрын
Tyler Donovan Thanks Tyler. I have a mount for the Drift. I had it on the push mower so I'll put it on the blower next. I didn't want to over do it on the blower mods. Glad you liked the lights.

I purchased a HS928 fifteen years ago today. If I have any advice for someone considering a Honda snowblower here is what I can tell you. I researched several brands before I chose the Honda. Other than the Yamaha, none of the others matched the Honda for build quality and features. ie: track drive and adjustable bucket height on the fly. I just had a hard time getting past the high price of the Honda. It was around $3200.00 Canadian dollars back in 2004. After 15 years, I have had zero problems or regrets getting the Honda. (Knock on wood). I know the high cost is hard to get past, but if you have the dough, go for it.

Going direct to the battery means that if you turn the machine off and leave the grips on by accident it would discharge the battery very fast and then if left outdoors the battery could freeze and require a new one. All accessories should be hooked up in such a manner that once the ignition is turned off the accessories will be off as well.

Hi Paul Is the "club" below the canister to unclog the auger? Honda website shows but doesn't mention. Thinking of getting 1" pvc pipe and clip broom holders to replace any old stick or shudder my hand on my mtd mach. Much cheaper to replace pvc than fingers (and hurts less). Thanx Pat R
@786334810 жыл бұрын
Pat Rothlauf Yup that's what it is. Your idea is just as good. Plenty of guys lost fingers not using it. Good thinking ;)

@danljohnston10 жыл бұрын
Paul, you did not dispoint on the mods, although I was expected some FLASHING LED's. If you don't mind me asking, what is the name of the alarm system you installed?
@786334810 жыл бұрын
Danny Johnston Thanks Danny. Ya the LED's is a give lol. The alarm system is made by "Bulldog" runs around $20. and they are worth much more. I've used them on many units including our Goldwing.

Never had an issue with this Honda tracked snowblower and if I did I’d simply use one of our two Kubota tractors to deal with the snow.

Thanks for the great stuff. Could you recommend a vedeo for my Honda S928 (2001) electric starter. Not even a cilck when I turn the key. Starts well with the pulley and everything else works fine when motor running. If I turn the key to the start posion, the light does not come on nor can I steer the chute. Does that tell you anything? Thanks Paul,, Paul
@78633489 жыл бұрын
Paul Doucet Thanks Paul. The first item that should be checked is your battery. I suspect that's where the issue is. also install a "Battery Tender" on the unit. You'll love it.

Hi Paul, Would you know if the newer formatted chute/ extended black hinged deflector add any height at all to the overall chute height? My concern is if I buy the newer snowblower whether or not it will ramp up into my truck with the canopy on. My 4 yr old honda (older chute design) makes it inside the canopy with 2 inches clearance to spare.

+True North I really wouldn't know. You might want to take a look at your local dealer to see.

Would the extension for the blower intake work on an American spec 928? I don't see that on the US Honda website for an accessory. I like the idea for the tube to put shear pins in, I am definitely going to use that one. Would the tube fit an 8 ounce ball peen hammer to get the shear pins out when they break off in the shaft like mine do?
@78633488 жыл бұрын
+tosainu1 Im not sure on the tube but they come in a larger size www.agrisupply.com/manual-canister-large/p/67670/ Ask these folks if the extent in will fit your model www.esfdirect.com/catalog.aspx?l=4&c=3990039526700059000&man=3989397585100055000
