Today I want to show you my way of extending the rather limited fuel range of our beloved Super Cubs. It's not elegant, it's not very cheap - but it does the job! 250 kms (155 mi) become 1.113 kms (691 mi), no kidding!
Equipment used (this is not an advertisement; I don't get paid):
- Givi Trekker Outback 42 liters + Givi carrier SR1168
- SP TAKEGAWA Side Bag Support left + right
- KITACO Center Carrier
About me: I've just started this channel to share my passion for riding 125cc motorbikes around Germany, France and Switzerland. There's nothing more relaxing than cruisin' secondary roads with low speeds :-D

I was the same. So I bought a FuelFriend 2.0 Litre Jerrycan and kept it in my topbox. I haven't used it since I filled it and it makes everything in box smelly.😀

On vacation in Spain, I rented a Piaggio Liberty scooter. I rode 770 km with it. The tank holds 6 liters, but the consumption was 3.3 liters, so I also refueled every 190 km.

3.3 liters is way too much for that machine. Italian junk :-D. I own a Honda Vision 110 scooter which consumes 2 liters. I always found the tank size of the Honda PCX impressive, with 8.2 liters and 1.9l/100km consumption.

I have had the same experience with fuel consumption and have run out of gas twice and had to push the bike. The highest fuel consumption I've had so far was 2.2 liters per 100 km (with luggage), and the lowest was 1.65 liters per 100 km. Most of the time, the average consumtion is around 1.8 liters per 100 km. I don't have an explanation for the fluctuating fuel consumption, but I have the impression that routes with a high proportion of long full-throttle rides lead to higher consumption, while city rides, despite traffic light stops, result in lower consumption. I always refuel after about 185 km and then add about 3.4 liters. The tank holds 3.7 liters.

Have you had any engine oil burn while full throttling for longer periods? Will be doing the Route des Grandes Alpes next week. Hope the weather won't be too bad..

@@yoshi125cc Because my Super Cub is new, I take it for regular maintenance and oil change every 6000 km. I do this to avoid any trouble with the warranty. Within the 6000 km, I have never had to top up the oil myself, and I check the oil level only about 3 to 4 times during that period. The oil level is always the same as right after the maintenance, and there is no noticeable oil consumption. The oil looks fresh, like dark honey. However, this can vary for each Super Cub; I also broke in my bike gently for the first 1000 km - never exceeding 80 km/h and avoiding short trips under 20 km. Nonetheless, during long tours, I always carry a spare oil bottle just in case, but it is still new and unopened. I also bring chain spray, which I have only used once during a tour. The chain is protected in a case and doesn't require as frequent maintenance as an unprotected chain.

I'm guessing you definitely don't have fuel anxiety now. I love your Super Cub.

No range anxiety anymore :-) In fact, I only take the 1,5L jerry can on longish trips nowadays as the 5L can stains the top box smell-wise. I very thoroughly fill up the 5L can, still stinks like hell. Smell takes weeks to disperse. If one doesn't carry anything else in the box, no problem. But with clothes, food etc... no recommendation.

Any thoughts on whether a front fender rack would be a good or bad location for a small fuel canister? I am really looking forward to more of your journeys around Alsace and the surrounding areas. Thank you.

A front fender rack is not available in my country but I believe it might be slightly detrimental to steering, as you have additional weight on the fork/handlebar. But then again, they put elephants on Cubs in Asia... 😄

Motorleistung) ?
@yoshi125cc
@yoshi125cc Жыл бұрын
Werde berichten :)

Fuel is heavy, I carry my extra 5L gas on the right side and my tool kit on the left. The top case is reserved for light clothing and my helmet.

How much can you load on your side carriers? The ones I have are only allowed to carry 2kgs unfortunately... But yes, the top case is for fuel and food only.
